Hmm this movie will be released in early December I think. I think it's based on the Journey to the west story but it's very different. But it really is a tall story lol

:yeah I Found thus information^^ :yeah

A Chinese Tall Story tells a little-known tale about the Tang Monk, Tripitaka, before he embarks on his arduous journey to bring the sacred sutras from the west, and achieves deification after successfully negotiating Eight-One Tasks to prove his faith and resolve.

As we see them for the first time, the Tang Monk is leading his three disciples into the city of Shache. No one would know that it is here that the boyishly innocent Tripitaka will meet his greatest challenge.

After a fierce battle, his disciples are captured by the evil Tree Spirits. Tripitaka luckily escapes. Undaunted, he sets off on his own to find a way to save his disciples, only to fall into the hands of the Lizard King and his army of Amazonian imps. Tripitaka is placed in the custody of Meiyan, a young imp who is the personification of ugliness. Meiyan falls in love with him at first sight: not for his flesh – which brings immortality if devoured, but for his passion. So from then on, the love-struck imp stalks Tripitaka every hour of the day. Not only does she make fun of him, she also sets a love trap for him. Unwittingly, Tripitaka falls into the trap and violates the Heavenly Code.

In the ancient and mythical past, not only are spirits plentiful, so are forms of life from unknown sources. Princess is one of them. She is quite a rebel even by today’s standard: resisting a pre-set marriage, and turning herself into an inter-galactic runaway. Like so many before her, this unearthly beauty falls at once for the cool but handsome Tripitaka. Meiyan instinctively senses competition, picks a fight with Xiaoshan but loses. She warns Tripitaka off her, but the Tang Monk will have none of it. Harshly branding Meiyan a love-cheat, Tripitaka decides to side with Xiaoshan instead. Meiyan is deeply hurt. In the meantime, Xiaoshan tries to help the Tang Monk rescue his disciples, but is no match for the Tree Spirits. As her alien army is about to be routed, a brave warrior selflessly throws herself into the fray. It is a brand new Meiyan – an ugly duckling no more. The war is won in spectacular fashion.

After Meiyan risked her life to rescue Tripitaka and his disciples, she gives herself up to be judged by the Temple of Heaven. Tripitaka is torn between passion and righteousness, and is forced to raid the Heavenly Palace for the gallows-bound Meiyan. After an epic and bloody struggle, the two are pardoned and sent back to earth by a benevolent Buddha. There they commence their westward journey with the Tang Monk’s three disciples – Meiyan in the form of a white mare as token punishment – striving to accomplish the Eighty-One Tasks and save the world.

i watched the trailer for this and it does look a little bit corny... with all the costumes and everything. plus, a movie with so many EEG stars... how good can it be?

and the love story sounds a bit typical... charlene is the really ugly girl that has a good heart but a sad life... nic's the good looking (of course) guy that falls in love with her despite her looks.

however, because i am obsessed with nicholas tse, i will definitely watch this! this is his first real comedy and he always tends to make me smile :blush

Ive seen the trailers for this movie. Its set to be release in december. Honestly, Im a nic fan.. yet i dont even know if i wanna see this film. The trailer looks ridiculous and theres alot of special effects. Its like partial based on Journey To The West, However, they didnt stick to the book. They made it more humorous.. O_o the humor just doesnt seem amusing to me. I rather see something more on the lines of the book.. If it was more like JTTW the tvb version wen dicky was the monkee.. then I think id enjoy it more. Plus most of the EEG pple are in this too.. besides twins and nic.. BOYZ' are in this..

Is the story about the monkey god or is a mixture of story.

its not about the monkey god. its about the monk Tong Jun.. So its kinda how all the demons are tryin to get the monk and such.. and some how charlene's charector is like in love with him [ nic as the monk ].. This movie has alot of special/sci- effect in it along with that they threw in some humor into this movie as well..

wow the official site is actually really nice. its in english (well you can choose for it to be in english) and theres so much information! theres also so much stuff to look at/watch. it has 2 mvs, 3 making ofs, and 1 trailer. the movie looks sooo weird after watching these. i don't get how jeff lau managed to include aliens and UFOs in a story about the monkey king but we'll have to wait and see.. maybe it'll come out nicely. i have faith in nic! =D

can't wait to actually start working on this movie.
in case, some of you haven't noticed, I've collaborated with Joy Sales and EMP recently with the production of the dvd release of Jackie Chan's "The Myth" and translated the commentary, some of the interviews and special features. my 2nd collabo will continue with the eventual february dvd release of this film. (i have a feeling that it'll be early march but from what Joy Sales hinted to me, it's february) Once again, I will translate the special features for this DVD and if Jeff Lau has the time to record, i'll have to do the translations of the commentary as well.

buy it, folks before you say something dumb in here like downloading it. we're lurking the forums.

i had seened this yesterday. its quite nice. really funny at the start and touching at the end. comparing this and the promise. the sceneries and directing and nic's image is nicer in the promise but storyline wise, definately a chinese tall story. perhaps cos i had too high expectation for the promise.

wad i dislike about this movie is that there seems to be a little too much computerised scenes

spoiler:
especially the scene where the aliens are fighting the tree spirit.

but the story between nic and charlene is really touching. although charlene;s character kinda disgust me a little at the start with the shameless lines claiming nic and all but i find myself rooting for her all the way towards the end of the movie. one sentence nic said in the stroy really touches me alot. it goes: 世界上最遥远的距离不是我就站在你面前你却不知道我爱你,而是明明相爱却不能在一起
(the furthest distance on earth isn't that i am standing right infront of u yet u do not know that i love you, but we are actually in love with each other but cannot be together) =CCC

i'm now working on translating the interviews for the DVD release right now. (make sure you get the Hong Kong release by Joy Sales, folks! my translations will be in their release)

i've been trying hard to keep it consistent with the english names as accordingly to the english names given in the movie's english subtitles. it would help me a great deal if somebody can give me a list (private message preferably) of the character's names and etc. include their chinese names attached to their english names. this would make me work much faster because translating and double-checking for accuracy takes a hell of a long time and we want this released ASAP if you know what i mean.

thanks!

the progress so far: Corey Yuen's interview is completed, Chen Bo-Lin's interview started (incomplete).

i aim to watch the mainland dvd first to avoid being spoiled. i usually frown on watching mandarin dubs. but being overseas and unable to watch this in theatres, i have no other choice.

This is a weird story..!! Twisted tale ! I liked it though for the fact that Nicholas is pretty delicious as a bald monk as well as the special effects. Also I always liked a girl aka Charlene who is not afraid of playing a less appealing role for a woman.

I reckon just watch it for the fun of it. Ohhh did I mention delicious Nicholas..!!! hehehehe

But one thing tat sucked for me was the mandarin dubbing. Would have prefered the cantonese version. Hah... Can't have everything can I???

yeah....i'm back with some updates ont he DVD relese of this movie.
it's pretty much confirmed to me that it's targeted for a February 9th release. i'm still busy as hell with the translations of interviews. too much slacking off. and i still have a commentary to handle after the interviews..

there will also be 2 commentaries on the dvd. i'm guessing one from director and one from the cast.
the director commentary will be hard. because i've just finished the director's interview today and man....it was hard. he states alot of terms that are hard to translate. i even left a small amount of it untranslated.

I agree. Everything was just in a complete mess and what's with the spiderman costume?? I thought the whole outerspace thing was like irrelavant too. But NC was just soooo adorable inside though haha. The only thing I loved were the NC moments inside =) I don't like the guy who dubbed Nic's voice inside...it's so yucky.

I watched this movie and it was so funny!!! If you ignore the fact that they messed up the original story haha. The best part of the movie would have to be the part when Nic encounter those yew guais that Charlene use to trick him. The part with "I will use love to deal with these people" was so funny, they got beat down one after another and then got chopped haha. That ride armor thing was unexpected and so messed up.

i didn't really like this movie

it's definitely different from what i expected in that it is a comedy and it takes place relatively after the series journey to the west 3, i think, since it's after the monkey king falls in love with the saint

most of the movie i found pretty ridiculous though it did have its moments when it was funny or even a little bit touching, but otherwise, i think this movie was a waste of time minus the cool graphics

the cast was amazing yet i don't think there was enough going on with the plot for the actors to show off their acting abilities, espcially with nicholas as he is the leading actor i don't think he really got a chance to show off what he can really do

thus i find this movie a waste and a total disappointment, i wouldn't recommend watching it unless you're a major, major fan of the cast

This movie is so funny, and I mean really funny. I think it is one of the funniest chinese movies out there. I laughed a lot while watching this movie. Also don't get surprised when u suddenly see spiderman in this movie, haha.
I watched this movie with chin. autotranslated subtitles, which was really autotranslated. I couldn't wait to watch this movie so that's why i watched it even without the proper english subs. In the end i could follow 100% of everything. But I will definately watch it again once the proper subs are available.

I recommend that people just watch the MV of 爱 by Nicholas Tse and Charlene Choi, it's much better than the movie.

I watched it yesterday and realised, what a load. It barely relates to the original Journey to the West, only in character names. The movie is more Sci-Fi than Fantasy/Legends. As my brother put it, most of the scenes (fights) were all CGI, someones playing a game and thought they should show us how good they were!

I have watched this movie. It’s pretty good. Better then I expected. There were parts in the movie that mad me cry. It has been a long time since I have watched a movie that made me emotional. The chemistry between Nicholas Tse and Charlene Choi was great. I really believed that Charlene loved Nicholas very much and Nicholas eventually realized that he cared for her too. This is a must see. :yeah

I have to admit the tagline "A movie about a monk falling in love with an alien" does not immediately give me the impression that it is a movie I really want to watch but I have to admit it does make me curious and I will probably give it a go soon.

But i don't like Patrick Tam and Esabella Leong's characters. They acted gay in there lor, especially Patrick Tam ar.LOL... This is just my opinion. Hehe...no ofence ar.

I just didn't enjoy this one at all. I would say it's even worse than disappointing. I kind of want my money back too! lol I didn't understand the movie, and about halfway, I seriously wanted to turn it off.

I admit, the graphics are really eyecatching and pretty, the nature scenery is nicely done, and the instrumental music is nice, but other than that I don't find anything worth praising. The beginning of the story was alright and possibly a little funny at times, but then it was just dragging from there. I think Twins Effect II was the draggiest HK movie I have ever seen, but I think I have to hand the title to this one lol. They should've made more use of the other cast.

I usually enjoy watching Nicholas, but this time, I have to say I didn't care much for his character or acting. I was drawn more to Chen Po Lin as the Monkey. Charlene was her usual cute, bubbly self at the beginning, and I find her a little annoying when she talks, but I liked her character when she changed.

Perhaps little kids would enjoy this movie, but I didn't enjoy it. From the movie to the special cd (I wanted the cantonese version MV, but it was Mandarin MV of 'Love'), I was extremely disappointed.
