I have never seen the Hui comedies before when I was still in Hongkong but I knew of them and seen them on TV.

Sean Lau did a very good approximation of Michael Hui who came out for a cameo at the end...and gosh, he hasn't even changed too much. Michael Hui was always portrayed as the smart guy, quick on his feet, and speak slower than his mind. Lau has the expressions and gestures but not the canniness of Michael unfortunately.

Louis was OK, but his Bruce Li mimic was good, and so did Sean Lau when he used the sausage nanchuku.

Jordan did look like Ricky Hui....but he was in it only for the first 5 and last 5 minutes of the movie.

I think Francis Ng stole the show with his Shek Kin impersonation....absolutely brilliant....Francis looked and sounded and acted exactly like all the Cantonese movies that I saw on TV in the 60's that had Shek Kin in as the proverbial bad guy.

The other good one was Lap Sap Chung, the litter bug. The kids and I were having so much fun watching a recreation of the Jurassic Park kitchen scene. The litter bug in HK used to be 10 feet tall walking around the Tsimshatsui area in Kowloon on promotional campaign days to remind people not to litter or else a $500 fine.

The Twins are so cute acting as the Chopstick sisters, 2 singers one called Minnie (thinner) and the other Sandra (fatter - she played the crazy woman who kept singing in A Moment of Romance and was one of the foster moms of Andy Lau in that movie), I think, who dressed the same and sang at shows. That song Kowloon, Hong Kong was one of their popular hit. But the exaggerated hairdo....hahaha. Does anyone of you have a mom who has a one foot tall hairdo before? My mom did once.

Ronald Cheng did a good rendition of Sam Hui's song TALENTED OR CRAZY.

At times the movie is really slow and slapstick, but at times it was good. So for $12, it was worth a laugh.

I believe it was when Cecilia was looking at the picture she took with her handsome cousin and Andy was in the pic instead of that green thing...

i thought this was a wacky movie to begin with and that was furthered reinstated when the stuffed dinosaur cecilia carries around came to life and started leaving around pink (shall we say) droppings.
the twins sported some kind of beehive hairdo that reminded me of the '60's/'70's which made me wonder what the plot was altogether...
i must say, some parts were funny, like the one where francis is playing mahjong, but at points, i found myself saying, "what?" and, what is the point of this exactly?
i saw no plot in this movie whatsoever even though the actors played their role very well. even an all-star cast can't brighten up a dead script...

I disliked this movie, maybe I didn't know how to enjoy watching it. Anyways, I really liked the part where Cecilia and Lau Chin Wan's brief conversation regarding how Ceci was going to go through the door. That was the only part that I liked.

:loool:

This is a re-enactment of the hui brother movie... many thing in the movie have references from the 70s of HK. Read it from Lovehkfilms

One of the best comedy's that came out of hong kong cinema in years. I think the best movie of 2004. Especially for those that have seen all the films of the Hui Brothers. Lau Ching Wan did a superb job imitating Michael Hui and of course not to forget Francis Ng as Shek Kin heheh...

Well I did not watch a lot of Hui brothers' classics so I might not get all the parodies here. I think I only laughed twice during the whole movie...The semi-cameo of Andy Lau is rather amusing. :lol?:

I wouldnt say this is a parodie of the Hui brother classics. This movie is more like having couple of them in one. This movie was very funny. Twins definitely cute. Francis Ng he is a damn good actor..

I agree with kalunchan that Lau Ching Wan did a superb job imitating Michael Hui. But I still prefer the old version over the new one.

the cast is great but the storyline is kinda lame. it seems like the whole point of the show was to squeeze in as many stars as possible. the big bug thing was just silly. i was kinda disappointed after seeing it

i think nowadays the acting of chinese actors is really lousy..... and this movie is a good example of it....... i'm not saying all chinese actors are bad.......... but look at twins...... they should better keep at singing....... because acting is not really their strong point

I highly recommend this movie because it's just damn funny unlike most HK movies out there. It will also appeal to the older generation since they were in that period which the movie was filmed.
