Synopsis: Inspector Wing (Jackie Chan) is the Hong Kong police’s resident super cop. He’s the best of the best, cracking every case he handles in record time. Fung (Nicholas Tse) is a rebel without a cause, a typically disaffected but street-smart Hong Kong youth who wastes his life in video game arcades.

Talk is cheap, and no one talks cheaper than Fung. Due to his family’s criminal background, it seems that Fung can never become a police officer, and follow in the footsteps of Wing, his all-time idol. Finally, Fung gets the chance to realize his goal of becoming a detective. He tricks Wing into joining forces with him on the trail of a truly vicious band of enemies: The Gang of Five!

Frank goes back to the police station where he meets the beautiful policewoman, Sasa (Charlene Choi) who immediately develops a crush on him. She helps him with the case and finds out the enemies are addicted to X-Games and online video games. Frank discovers the gang's actions against the police have been made into an online video game, and Sasa must play the video game to find their next move. (Credit to: moviesonline)

looks good with jackie and nic together, but i dont get the video game part.. <_<

Basically, the men that terrorize the government are led by Daniel Wu. They don't really have a reason to terrorize, they're just rebels without a cause. Maybe they don't like cops or something. They're addicted to video games, so they treat the situation like a game. Maybe they're so addicted that they try too much to act like they're in one or something because then they turned their attacks and move into a video game, showing how they kill the cops and stuff. And in order to find out what their next motive, move, or attack is, the police must play the video game in order to catch them. The reason why Jackie wasn't able to catch them was because they are really tricky and he doesn't know what they're capable of doing next. Now Frank realizes that all the stuff that happened in the online video game are incidents that happened to Jackie and his crew, so since Sasa is an expert at video games, she has to play it in order to find the enemy's next move. Hope that helps... kind of lengthy though, don't you think? ^_^'

the plot doesn't sound that good, especially playing video games to catch a bunch of criminals............um.......
it's kinda weird to put this kinda storyline into this series...
i really hope the action scenes are as good as the first 4 movies...

I haven't yet seen the older Police Story movies, but I heard they were really good. Well I have high hopes for this movie as well. I hope it'll be a good film, but maybe the video games part will somehow interlock into the movie to make it good. Anyhow, there isn't too much comedy in this movie except for Charlene+Nic sometimes, but Jackie is really serious...as well as Charlie, so this isn't going to be another one of Jackie's comedies if you find them lame :lol?:

UPDATE

Read the following for Jackie Chan's new VIDEO for this movie. The song is called "September Storm". Other downloads include the 2nd trailer for New Police Story as well as the "making of". Enjoy watching.

The song "September Storm" is in Mandarin. As you all know, Mandarin is the official language of China, therefore, it's more than likely to have a Mandarin themesong. However, this film is from Hong Kong and is Cantonese, but I doubt there will be a Cantonese themesong unless it is like TTE II with both languages =) If there is, I will be sure to add it to this thread.

Comments about the movie and clips are welcome.

Kind of offtrack question - has Jackie left hollywood now?

No, he just wants to return to doing an HK film for once, so he'll only be gone for a while from Hollywood. Since he did so many HK films before, he probably misses it and wants to part from Hollywood movies for only a bit, I'm sure he'll do other American movies in the future.

don't think that this movie will brake his career cause this seems to be a great movie. Yup saw 80 days, it was not bad after all. B)

Nope Jacky isn't doing Rush Hour 3, not for atleast 3 years, he wont be doing an American movie in a LONG time. Possibly never again.

I can't wait til this movie airs in Toronto on TV...

Really? Won't JC make any more American movies for a long time? Where did you get this info?
What a wonderful news then, if it's true! Hope he ditches US and returns full time to Hongkong :)

I really hope New Police Story will have some kind of decent ending fight scene, it's been a while that we've seen a seriously made ending fight(s) in a JC movie.

I haven't seen 80 days yet, but could somebody just give a tiny hint? Is there any kinds of "ending fight" in that one?

I saw the preview of this movie not too long ago. Well, not much of fighting...probably Jackie is getting old for this stuff. Anyway, the movie is tehnd to bring back Nicolas Tse to the industry, right?

They spent 120 million HK on this baby, so it better be damn good. Or else I'll be VERY disappointed in the HK film industry. There's been an obvious decline... and I need my faith reaffirmed....

i agree with you and jackie chan's movies since he moved to hollywood has been un-impressive. I heard this is the 1st of many big budget hong kong movies for him, so if he can pull this off, i can't wait for the others.

I am a little dissapointed that they use Jackie chan again in this movie. They should move on and use a new generation of moviestars. Jackie Chan's time is over. His latest movies these 2 years are all crap.

Yeap. Just watched the movie. This is definitely one of the better movies that Jackie did lately. Lots of action between bad guys and two good guys. A tinge of romance as well. However, unlike Jackie previous movies, there's not too many pretty young girls. ;)

this information was already posted in the main post :tricky: but thanks for trying to help others hehe

And yes, to whoever that asked (too lazy to check) when the movie comes out on DVD/VCD, it WILL MOST LIKELY have English subtitles no matter where you live because... well... if your place sells Chinese DVD/VCD, then most likely, it will have English subs. If not, it's more than likely u can d/l subs off eMule or something clapclap

I heard the movie is not bad at all. There are some cool fighting scenes (the usual Jacky Chan's stuff, but slicker this time...). Heard there's drama in it too...so it's not the typical action flick. Police story is always a classic, so i guess this one lives up to the expectations. I shouldn't be saying so much now since i haven't seen it myself, but i've heard only good things about it thus far. Definitely looking forward to seeing it soon. Anyone knows when the dvd is coming out?

I heard Jackie Chan, next movie is Rush Hour 3, that will be his last cause he wants to be a 'real' actor and no more stereotypical Asian roles in hollywood. So back to HK i assume.

All those links that are posted gives me a black screen and sometimes it'll tell me audio but no video.

Does anyone know what's the "rumour" concerning Nic and ah Sa? Apparently, I saw on Jade Star Biz that during a promotion in Beijing or Shanghai (not too sure) there was an incident that made Ah Sa get so embarassed. Just curious to know. The answer was in Mandarin and without subtitles it's very iffy for me to understand. :)

I don't like Daniel as a bad guy :(

u don't? but he's so much more hotter as a bad boy then he is as a good guy! (2 b honest, im sick & tired of him playin a good guy *eyes-rolled*)
i have been looking 4ward 4 Daniel 2 play a sexy bad boy again ever since Gen-X Cops, which he was soo freaken hot in there as a bad boy!

from wat i have heard, Daniel is gonna pair w/ Coco Chiang (again). i think thatz HOT, c0z both of them r hotties, so they're gonna make 1 HOT COUPLE!

I'm pretty dubious of how it can get.. donno.. but it seems like Jacky's losing it already... Hopefully the director is some Hong Konger... because the last Hollywood movie i watched with him in it is REALLY stupid man.. 'around the world in 80 days'.
Just pretty much slapstick humour, pretty stupid story line and even worse acting from all members. Sigh... Disappointment.

I certainly hope that his story is better this time...(i know it seems better.. but we'll never know man...) I really loved his films when he's younger though.. esp the Police Story series... itz REALLY good.. THEN that is...

Good entertaining movie. Any movie that keeps my 2 & 1/2 year old god-son still in his seat for majority of the 2hr long movie is a good movie.
But seriously, it has its moments especially during some parts where the audience I saw the film with was truly engrossed in the movie. You could hear the collected gasps, sigh of relief and the guffaws of laughter at some otehr parts.
I enjoyed it and hope that those who went did too. B)

You should read the previous posts before asking this. People who watched it have already posted their opinion. Yes, it is already aired and that's why many people have watched it. The VCD/DVD release date IS on the main topic to provide you with information. That's what it's there for. Just so you don't have to go all the way back, the releast date is December 27, 2004.

Yeah over the 1 - 2 years, he has been concerntrating on hitting the Hollywood market. No doubt it was a success but really wanted to watch him in some HK production and hopefully this movie brings back some good stuff...

Its a good movie, way way better than his recent Hollywood ones. However, I find the show slow going at times when Jackie tries to show he can be a serious actor in some dramatic scenes..

At least the stunts are real, unlike the computer generated ones in his other recent movies.
