Summary:
Entering the period as a man hits forty...
What is it that causes the greatest pain, the greatest agony, the greatest fear?

Three flatmates and good friends: Wai Fook Wing (Alex Fong), Chan Ping Gei (Chin Ka Lok) and Lo Ka Fai (Cheung Chi Kwong) are about to meet the psychological barrier of middle age and each has their problems with "Men at Forty"...

Once a legend in the advertising creative world, Wing's performance has not been as strong as it once was and his position is gradually being taken over by his younger and brighter superior Kwan Tze Kei (Charmaine Sheh). Kei is a perfectionist with her work and often criticises Wing, but when the two are alone, she becomes a very reliant and vulnerable girl, putting Wing into the unprecedented position of confusion and concern...

Gei is the king of the tutoring world and on the outside he portrays a playboy who sheds his love without a though, however the only one he thinks about is his former wife Yuen Siu Mui (Shirley Yeung). One day, a girl arrives claiming to be his daughter and causes this player in the world of love to become totally helpless...

Fai is dedicated to his acting and will not inherit his father's business, causing much friction between the two. In his love life he has failed on many occasions and his career is not seen to be getting anywhere. On a charity performance one day, he meets superstar Mok Hiu Nam (Anne Heung) and they argue their way to friendship...

i'm a huge fan of charmaine so i really enjoyed this series. at the same time though, i was a little surprised this was released in hk because i didn't think people in hong kong liked this type of series. is anyone here from hk? how did it do in hong kong?

personally, i thought charm did a really good job! it wasn't her usual character (the brattier type like in country spirit, 7 sisters, PONR). she was lots more mature in this one. it was a great look!

btw, whats the name of the girl that played chin ga lok's daughter? she also played natalie from TITS..

oh mann, i rented this series because i thought that Charmaine looked really nice in it, and when i started watching the first few episodes, i almost died of boredom

this series is highly NOT recommended because its boring, draggy, and theres no main plot..

if your renting it because you like one of the characters, rent another series theyve been in because im sure any series asides from this one would be more entertaining

definitely a boring plot...

charmaine and alex together was kinda weird...

that guy with anne too...

and the other guy with shirley? (even though you don't really see them together)

ahh!! what's with all the pairings of couples with huge age differences?

the ending was okay though....

i dont like this ending!!! i only liked charmaine's cause she actually ended up with alex fong. the rest either died or married some other lady. it seems like the story is just trying to EXTEND it. cause they keep on getting together, then splitting, then getting together again. it was just so boring

it doesn't really have a story. it's not a great series but if you're in for some time to pass - i say no harm.

i didn't like the characters of this show. they all sucks except chin kar lok is real funny.

however i hope anne heung will get together with the character lo kar fai.

This story itself wasn't very impressive what more about the conclusion. The conclusion sucks big time!!

It was the worst ending.

I hate the part where Chan Peng Kei (Chin Kar Lok)rejects the idea of getting married and later finally did. It was so stupid and unfair to Ah Ling.

Then of course with the death of Lo Kar Fai. That's so sad - the part where his father and friends attended the show he was starring in.

Most unfair of all they have to make Kelly Kwan (Chaimane Sheh) having a divorce from her husband. That's so cruel.

May i suggest that...if all these guys were so mean they better off make them all single in the end and be responsible towards what they have caused to these ladies.

It was so unfair for Ray Wai (Alex Fong) to get back with Kelly Kwan after how he treated her. He certainly do not deserve her. Indeed they should make Kelly Kwan being happily married. Then perhaps Ray knows where went wrong with him all along. They should have make him responsible for his pass mistakes. The part of Ray being jealous with Kelly Kwan and accepted the love from his boss is worst. He knew he didn't love her - then why hurt someone's feeling? I do not like the character Ray Wai. He's just not a trust worthy man a girl could depend on. Who cares even if he only love Kelly, he's a failure when he can't give in his pride and ego.

On Chan Peng Kei's character. I like that Ah Ling have moved on and to even start a family. How can he be so irresponsible? It's quite sad that his r/ship with Ah Ling ended and i still can't forgive him having rejected Ah Ling's idea of marriage and somehow got married later on. But at least he's got a funny character in this show furthermore he's loyal to his ex-wife Siu Mui (Shirley Yeung)

On Lo Kar Fai's character. Yes I admit he's weird but the part on him finally realizing his feeling for women is a very nice part. Do you really think that a woman could actually turn a gay man straight again? I doubt about that in reality - anyhow he's quite a good man...at least he's responsible for all his actions unlike Ray Wai and Chan Peng Kei. Maybe it's true what they said that a gay man are more sensitive. It's sad that he died because i was hoping to see him being with Anne Heung. It's a sad sad loss for him in this show.

LOLZ, LOVED THIS SERIES, most hilarious and stupid comments, and really made my day. Must admit, the series did seem abit crap because there wasn't much meaning to it. The cast really suited their chracters. Alex looks really good for a 40year old haha! Shame there wasn't a theme song to the series, just crappy music. The ending was not good, it seemed like it wasn't the ending, it seemed like it was going back to the beginning? If you get what I mean?

In the begginning, this series was interesting where we can see the love story between the three male and female develop. Basically, it is quite funny in all of the love story. but some part was quite boring.

I really didn't find it as bad as many of you think of it.. I can think of a lot of series that were worse. My entire family enjoyed it.. maybe it's just not appealing to younger viewers. I absolutely love Anne's character in this series, which actually pulled me away from disliking her altogether, and Claire did a better job than I have expected as well. The ending between Charmaine and Alex was fine, it reminded me of 'Turn Left Turn Right,' although I have never seen the movie, it's what I picture it would be like. Overall, I would say this series is average, nowhere near bad.

Yeah, I really think the same as you "mmhmm," they should have used young male actors for this series. Alex and that other guy (not ka lok) are just too old.
But then again, the series won't make sense if the guys were young, because how would you talk about guys life after forty. So maybe they should have chosen more mature female actress instead. At least it will go.

I'm not really against old people dating younger people (maybe ~5 years apart), but don't make it look like its a huge difference.......

But overall, i just find this series was a waste. I cast may look good but the story was kinda nonsense. Just didn't know why they made a series like this.
