The names of major cast members of Oscar-winning director Ang Lee's "Lust, Caution" were finally released on July 17th after much speculation. The actress is Tang Wei, a new film star in China's mainland.

The mystery was unveiled by Ang Lee through David Magdael & Associates. Tang Wei had just entered into the movie circle, still endowed with an air of simplicity and purity, and happened to have a similar nature with the main character Zhang Jiazhi in a short story by the renowned late female Chinese writer Eileen Chang. Just as quoted by Ang Lee, the reputation is less important, and a pure quality is the key feature.

Ang Lee expressed in a press release article that Tang Wei had already shown her talents in her previous movies and he was convinced that she would be the best actress for the part.

Based on the same-named short story by Eileen Chang, the story of "Lust, Caution" is set in the Japanese occupied Shanghai during the Japanese aggression of the 1940s. The main character, named Wang Jiazhi, is a college student with progressive thoughts and a pure heart. Tang Wei, graduated from Directing Department of China's Central Drama College, has an innocent face and a lively personality. She has acted as a volunteer for the college students'drama festival several times consecutively. Therefore she possessed the most similar background to the main character.

Ang Lee, after winning the Oscar for the best Director for his film "Brokeback Mountain" this year, has begun the preparation work for filming in China's mainland. The selection of actors and actresses of the new movie "Lust, Caution" has lasted for a period of time.

Can't wait for the movie, it seems to be good. ANg lee is one of the best directors.

A new face. hmmm. i thought Ang Lee would have gone back to using Zhang Zhiyi. Maybe she costs too much or maybe he wants a new face.

Yeah at first I thought that she looked like the gal from My name is Kim Sam Soon Costar and star from Which Star Are You From?.

That member is very rude and mean for saying those things. Ang Lee really represent and did great works for the Chinese movie and performing arts community. He is very talented and he has a very loving family and worked very hard being where he is at. He worked from the bottom up and he would never do those things like Jackie Chan and Wong Jing. You would only see those things in Hong Kong, ppl who brought down the quality and qualifications of the movie industry.

I look forward to this production because Ang Lee is able to capture and bring the best of ordinary actors to make their best performances.

Keep up the good work! Hope these actors would live up to the expectations of fans and potential western viewers. Wang Lee Hom should make a breakthrough performance. He has a deep rooted performing history even when he was in New York and his previous movie appearances was a disappointment. Working with Ang Lee should help his performance shine.

Glad that Ang Lee got a new face for this role. And she doesn't look bad either! Best of luck to this movie since from the brief plot summary we've been given so far, it sounds really interesting.

A new face! Good I"m looking forward this movie, Ang Lee is a very good director, he will certainly help this young actress improve her acting if needed.
I'm also glad to see that Tony Leung Chiu Wai is the male character.

ooo so glad they "unveiled" tang wei. she's alright looking. I am excited to see how Ang Lee does with all this hype and fame that comes with an oscar.

That girl in CTHD only had one movie to her name when Ang Lee picked her. I wouldn't call that whole lot of experience. Another words, we should give Tang Wei a chance. Ang wouldn't have picked Tang if he didn't think she had what it takes.

ang lee has made some really great movies, so no doubt, he found a great actress for his vision, even if she is still a beginner

I don't know who this girl is but she does look pretty and she has a very natural look. I think Ang Lee definitely is becoming more and more known. Wish them the best of luck with this new movie.

After being so successful in America, it's great that he's going back to China to direct.

can't wait til the movie comes out, she looks a lot better now in this picture then the one posted before in the other threads.
