On the Best Hit Song Awards 2009 aired through Japan TV on the 26th, two of Korea's favorite male idol groups received the Gold Artist Award. They were none other than Big Bang and TVXQ.

This has actually been the second THIRD time for the senior TVXQ boys to claim this glorifying title, whereas it's a first for the rookie Big Bang boys who only debuted in Japan five months ago (though they have released many ENG songs in 2008)

As many already know, TVXQ is still in a dispute with SM Entertainment regarding their unfair contracts. Due to this reason, the special stage for this event was extra special for the fans who have waited a long time to see the five boys come together as one again. U-Know Yunho expressed during rehearsal, "I really want to go up on stage. I am very happy to be awarded the Gold Artist Award."

In contrast to TVXQ, Big Bang does not have many achievements in Japan yet. However, after releasing their first single My Heaven, their popularity skyrocketed in Japan, reaching up to the second place on the Oricon Daily Charts. In addition, their second single Gara Gara Go! successfully climbed to third.

even though the 5 are standing on the stage... something just not right watching at the rehearsal interview they look sad, even though they keep saying they loved each other much in previous interview but i'm sure because of this lawsuit Yuhno and Changmin have sorta distanced them-self with the trio... can see the trio sorta have no words and eye contact :unsure:

The 5 members are closer than many siblings and the whatever bad feelings they are having right now (obvious through body language) hopefully will be ironed out quickly just like how siblings make-up really fast and they'll be laughling, joking like before. They need to be kind to each other for the fans' sake. Because if they don't unit, they are making fans having to choose...:( Personally, my favorite is Jae Joong.

First of all- congratulations to Big Bang for receiving this award! They have certainly earned it. I wish them more success and wonderful music in the future.

As for DBSK/TVXQ-

Although I'm very happy to see all 5 of the boys on stage, you can just feel the tension between JaeChunSu and HoMin, not only by body language as both groups were standing a little further away from one another, but the fact that JaeChunSu were just looking down or looking around the place. Even in the beginning of the clip, you didn't see any of the members smiling, just looking very sad and there was some awkwardness between them. It's rather painful to see them not acting all brotherly towards another- like between Yunho and Jaejoong.

I hate that this lawsuit has caused such a rift between them, but they need to continue staying strong and support each other if they want to continue as DBSK/TVXQ. I'm sure that they know how much the fans want them to be together again and personally, I think they would like that as well.

Always keep the faith.

i agree with jacloud9....such a pity that although TVXQ or DBSK was singing their song..unfortunately, the lustre of the song got lost through their indifferent way of singing...there's absolutely no joy on it...all the members look sad and unhappy...i thought that after living together for almost 10 years, these boys will grow to care and love each other...that there is a comdradeship or bond that is hard to cut..i guess, i am wrong...i think when celebrities say "i love you" to their co-celebrities...it's only a lip service...can't they just be like their old selves?...if they can't do it in real life...they can always ACT it out...PRETEND for God's sake...for the sake of " the show must go on..." and to think that these boys want to branch out to acting...if they can't do it aa a group...no wonder they flop in acting as individuals...SAD, SAD, SAD....what a WASTE of talents....

I've been waiting and anticipating for this award hoping that they can perform well and sing well and dance well. You know, give it all that they've got since its been a while since they all saw each other. I can see the tension and the feel the awkwardness in this song. This is one of my favorite song of theirs but I just don't feel the love in it. I just hope that they stand by each other and work it out just like this song. Because they've got tons of fans behind them rooting them on. I just hope that they can settle this and move on. TVXQ, always keep the faith cause thats what I got for you guys. <3 I love you guys. Next time sing us a song thats fill with love. <3<3<3

so i stayed up until 6:00am WATCHING DBSK STAND as FIVE during the BEST HIT KAYOSAI and i was worried & somewhat disappointed when i saw just how awkward and sad they looked when they were being interviewed and singing STAND BY YOU. but damn. now that i think about it. IM JUST SO PROUD OF THEM, EVEN MORE!! /sobs

i would have called it FAKE if they SHOWED up SMILING and LAUGHING with DBSK members, so im glad they didn't do that. because DBSK is the MOST REAL artists ever. since we ALL know there is some tensions btw SME & jaechunsu. T_T

i pray the members somehow secretly WORKED it out in Japan, because SME did NOT ALLOW them to really TALK to each other at all in japan, doing their best to keep them all apart DDDD: /sighs

okay im rambling. sorry. anyways still SO GLAD to HEAR them SING in JAPANESE again (: despite them being so sad, DBSK never FAILED TO STILL SOUND SO AMAZING :3 & i can't wait to hear them again next week :D

CONGRATS TO DBSK for WINNING their 3rd? GOLD ARTIST AWARD and CONGRATS for BB for wining their first (:

it was too bad I didn't get to watch the BB performance because at that time the tv streaming program i was using failed for almost everyone so no one really got to watch BB perform live! :\ i watched their performance later & it was goood too bad they didn't perform "Let me Hear your Voice" xD lol


but DBSK please don't BLAME DBSK for NOT PRETENDING to SMILE and BE HAPPY. they can't. DBSK is their EVERYTHING & it's something you just can't fake it no matter what :'((( they did AMAZING for a group that hasn't performed for LITERALLY 3 MONTHS! :DDDD

always KEEP THE FAITH, even when it's hard. SME is trying to bring us DOWN. but we won't let them okay?? >:D

OMG! I think this is Big Bang's first award from Japan. I'm so proud of them!! TOP looks hot, i love the part when the girls screamed when he started his rap. LOL. xD I wonder if they only performed one song? I so love Big Bang!! More power to them. :D

Congrats to Big Bang and DBSK! They've both worked really hard to get where they are.

*sigh* DBSK looks so sad onstage, though. I can't believe SME wouldn't let MinHo and JaeChunSu talk to each other :( No wonder JaeChunSu just kept mutely glancing over (or in JaeJae's case, mostly just staring sadly at the ground).

i miss the part where BB performing (streaming problem) and i thought they didn't perform...
actually the grand award went to EXILE, in 2007, they gave them a trophy but then 2008 onwards, they don't. only the grand award get atrophy.

not sure if they give them behind the stage...2007, when thsk won gold artist with summer dream, they get a trophy. but 2008 with doushite, no trophy anymore

Tohoshinki - Gold Artist Award

The five members of Tohoshinki finally stood together again, standing together on the same stage after the start of the problems.

At 7o'clock on the 26th, the three members who were in a turmoil with SM, along with the other two members approached the "Best Hits Festival 2009" stage together in Japan.

This day, Tohoshinki was awarded the "Gold Artist" award, and was the 19th artist to perform out of the 21 performers. The five members appeared in white suits on the stage, and received a lot of the audiences cheers.

Leader Yunho spoke as he held the award, using his fluent Japanese to convey his joy and feelings of thanks towards the fans. This is the first time they stood on stage after the release of their 28th single . [T/N i'm not too sure about the "first time"..]

On the other hand, apart from Tohoshinki, artists like Big Bang, Koda Kumi, JUJU, AAA, EXILE and others also attended.

not to mention that HoMin and JaeChunSu feel awkward but they really are..i agree with Lavender Rain..i rather seeing them awkward than put a fake smiling on their face.But it sad though seeing them like that.i hope the best for DBSK.they really working hard to got what they have now.Just keep the faith!

After watching the interview and performance, I can't listen to DBSK music the same as before. The passion is lost; hell they're not even singing in tune!
