Susan Boyle and Simon Cowell Coming to 'Oprah Winfrey Show'

On May 11, 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' presents the world's talents, ranging from China's chart topper Jane Zhang to recent YouTube sensation Susan Boyle.

Coming to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Monday, May 11 are two icons of "Britain's Got Talent". Judge Simon Cowell will attend the talk show in person while contestant Susan Boyle will pop her head via Skype. The episode is under the theme "The World's Got Talent" and is packed with talents around the world.

Simon, who is also the judge in "American Idol", will set the record straight on the rumor of him leaving the American singing show. Meanwhile, to accommodate the sudden fascination of Susan Boyle, host Oprah Winfrey will get to know more about her personally. The 47-year-old will be beamed via satellite from her house in Scotland and she will give Oprah a 'tour' around the house.

According to the press release, Simon will also be there to "debut the artists he calls 'the next big thing'". Also featured on the episode are singer Jane Zhang from China, Germany's "Alex Swings, Oscar Sings" who appears via satellite from Hamburg and a look at Afghanistan's top talent competition.

This is awesome. I feel so proud of Jane. I feel really happy for her. Finally, this is her chance to show her amazing vocals to the world :).

I really hope she will choose the right song to sing at the show. A song that can do her beautiful voice justice. Preferably no hip-hop, fast tracks or mainstream.

This has been one of my biggest dreams for Jane since discovering her on youtube back in the summer of 07... to appear on America's Oprah Winfrey show...and who would have guessed that it wasnt a wish but more a foretelling of what the future has in store for Jane.

I know there are millions in China and for Jane to be on OW would not really matter to them but for us Asians in America, its like this huge inspiration because OW is a huge household brand, its literally stepping into International Stardom officially.

True, Jane may have not set herself up for international but it is definitely knocking at her door, for those many Asian artists who want the chinese world of music to be noticed and appreciated, here is one colleague who is definitely going to take you all there. (I'm not Chinese)...

Best Wishes To All!

darn if i knew i would have bought tickets for the show and a flight ticket to chicago....so mad!

it comes on 4 oclock eastern time here in NC!

true brightlight, we may as well be soulmates lol

I was tempted to write oprah about a million times in regards to jane but once jane got to work with david foster I kinda figured I'd let fate take its course with Jane by word of mouth in regards to international recognition. I think god works in mysterious ways....the saying goes true for jane....obey your parents and you shall inherit the world.

susan boyle is AMAZING!! <3 so yay for her!!
(but seriously, due to the time limit, i'd wish simon off so great ppl like jane will have enough time...coughcough)

susan is huge in the US. everyone's talking about her nowadays. but admist all that, i really really wish that the show will have enough time for jane. like susan, the world NEEDS to hear and love her voice. maybe monday night will bring huge success to her(crosses fingers)!!! i want her to sing a powerful song. not just any song. it would be ideal if it's a song the english-speaking population all knows. like susan's I Dreamed a Dream. well-known and popular.

looking forward to monday night! :D

Jane Zhang and Susan Boyle invited to America's top talk show

Jane Zhang, who just build her own music company <Xiao Cheng Shi Dai>, came to Chicago, America a few days ago. She was invited to the talk show of world’s top host Oprah Winfrey. The episode featured guests from all over the world, including Britain’s Got Talent’s Susan Boyle.

The topic of the episode was “The World’s got Talent”. American Idol and Britain’s Got Talent host, as well as producer Simon Cowell appeared on the show to discuss about talents from all over the world who received fame through talent contests. As a top talent, Jane Zhang shared her experiences on how she started with music and how she idolized Mariah Carey's voice, which eventually led her to train English songs.

Jane Zhang used English during the whole process and conversations with Oprah. She performed the Chinese song <West Impression Lake>, which is directed by Zhang Yimou and composed by Kitaro. She also performed a jazz song from her newest album <Celebrate>. Her wonderful performance stunned all the audience and the producers on the show. They even invited Jane Zhang to perform <Loving You> at the end of the show. When she reached her famous dolphin sound (whistle register), all the audience gave her a standing ovation and applause, including Oprah and Simon Cowell. When the performance was over, Simon declared that he will keep in contact with this music talent from China. Oprah Winfrey also hugged Jane Zhang twice and expressed her admiration.

Jane Zhang went backstage, when recording was done. The producer of the show gave her his blessings and appreciation. The person who was in charge of this episode expressed that Jane is a world’s talent, and he wished Jane success in America.

^actually, she sung Impressions West Lake Rain, which is an equally beautiful song. She also sung Celebrate, which I didn't feel showed off her vocals as well...she also inserted a line of Mariah Carey's "Heroes." Supposedly, she sung Loving You, but that was cut. T_T

=====================================================
Jane Zhang Excerpt from Oprah.com - The World's Got Talent

Jane Zhang is a Chinese Superstar

Growing up in Chengdu, China, Jane Zhang set her sights on becoming a singer. After her father passed away, the 15-year-old took a job singing at a local pub to help support her mother, and quickly developed her own local fan base.

In 2005, Jane was one of 120,000 hopefuls who auditioned for a new talent show, Mongolian Cow Sour Yogurt Super Girl. After singing Mariah Carey's "Hero," she was instantly chosen to compete for the title of the next Super Voice Girl.

Four hundred million viewers tuned in to see who would take home the title, and although Jane didn't win the competition, she became the show's breakout star. With 15 number one hit singles, Jane's been named China's Best Female Artist three years in a row. She's making her American television singing debut on The Oprah Show!

i think just the fact that jane can converse in fluent english on a world-renowned show-oprah winfry's show--is incredible!

i certainly can't do that w/ my 5 years of french basis!

bravo jane!!!

(yesterday's show had to get through so many ppl that jane's segment wasn't all that long. so i bit disappointed there but nonetheless! it was a fantastic debut for jane in the US)

lol i was nervous for jane when simon greeted her XD i wanted to answer for jane haha

lol, me too.

I was worried something like Jade might happen... Even though Jane's English was a bit muddled, she pulled it off well. She was so confident and sweet that even though some of her answers didn't make perfect sense, no one would've minded.

I do wish she sung more of Impressions West Lake and less of Celebrate, though.

here's a better quality of her segment on Oprah.

I liked her song choice, but I just wish she could have sung the first song longer because that song really could have showcased her versatility.
