A few things have happened over the weekend and into this week regarding the publication of candid photos of HK entertainer Gillian Chung.

1.A televised press conference was held yesterday, "Privacy and Dignity: Hong Kong people's business". Many HK stars were in attendance to show their support for this ideal and for Gillian: Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, Simon Yam and Daniel Wu were among those in attendance.

2. Prior to that Chung filed a lawsuit againt EasyFinder asking for the publication to hand over all source materials of the photos in question.

3. Jackie Chan and Tony Leung Ka-fai led a silent walk to government offices as a demonstration against the incident. Jackie Chan handed over a signed petition asking for tighter restrictions on coverage by the press. "As public figures, we should allow our pictures to be taken. If we crash our cars when we're drunk, it serves us right. People should scold us. But for a girl to be photographed when she's in a changing room, such a private place, is despicable behavior," he said.

4. Despite protests from the press that restrictions are a threat to press freedom the HK government has promised to review privacy laws when they recovene in September. "I agree with the criticism of the photo," Tsang told reporters. "I believe there is a need to strike a balance between press freedom and privacy. We will launch fresh round of discussions (on privacy laws)."

glad that all this has happened but I don't think it's enough...Malay govt already banned that issue...but in HK, it's still selling off the charts...they shouldn't wait that long to act...

i think the hk people need to speak up to. like is this really want you want to see in magazines? if the magazine doesn't think the photos would sell, they wouldn't print it.

I dunno why all the hype is still going around!

OK it was unethical for the paparazzi to take those photos - but we should ask society it self - why did that particualr copy sell out so fast that a second eidtion had to be rushed out??

Im just thinking get over it! its not like she was totally naked right!! (correct me if i'm wrong) she had a nude colour bra on! So the photos were unflattering,

I just think find the culprit let justice deal with him and just move on this news is getting boring!!!!

I don't agree with the "all we can do is accept it"
Wat they are doing is more than suing, they are pressing the government for stricter privacy laws that would protect celebrities from having their privacy violated. I dunno wat the picture is like n whether she was totally naked but the point is not on whether she is naked or not but that the pictures were taken in the change rooms. Hong Kong reporters are going too far in their quest for a good cover story. I mean wat is next? PLant a hidden camera in showers that celebrities use or even in their home?? Yes I agree that the reason they take those pictures is because society is attracted by those but does that mean celebrities have to just brace themselves and accept it? no!! I mean yes as a celebrity they would lose some privacy but that should only be wen they are outside. They still need a place they can call sanctuary and places they can be safe from the scrutiny of the public.
