The immensely popular “Goong – Sassy Princess” is scheduled to begin shooting its sequel in October. However, it was still unclear whether the original leads will continue their performance. On the 15th, when director Hwang Inroe accepted an interview, he finally revealed and confirmed that “Goong II” will have an entirely new cast. The four leads Ju Ji Hoon, Yoon Eun Hye, Kim Jung Hoon and Song Ji Hyo will not participate in the sequel.

Although many fans of “Goong” were filled with anticipation for the confirmation of the four leads, but they will have to be disappointed. Hwang Inroe, who is responsible for the shooting of “Goong II”, expressed: “Both Ju Ji Hoon and Song Ji Hyo have decided to do another work. Yoon Eun Hye has another reason, but the three of them have told me that they were unable to film the sequel. Only Kim Jung Hoon has promised to accept it. Therefore “Goong II” will be shown to the viewers with an entirely new cast as well as a different plot.” Regarding the fact that he has to prepare four new people to take up these characters, Hwang Inroe could hardly conceal that he feels abandoned.

Hwang Inroe indicated that “Goong II” will continue with the theme of a fictional South Korean monarchy, showing how tradition and the present can co-exist together. The plot will also be tied to the first series. The ending of “Goong” revealed that ultimately Lee Shin and Lee Yul didn’t inherit the throne, leading to the temporarily ascension of Shin’s sister Hyemyeong. The sequel will thus continue with this plot as the palace discovers the existence of a royal grandson living among commoners. In turns out that he have absolutely no clue about his identity. After he graduated from high school, he works as a delivery boy. He didn’t know until the palace invited him to come and he suddenly became a member of the imperial family in one night. Upon his entrance in the palace, he began his training. He will be groomed to become emperor. The inspiration for this plot came from the true story of the Joseon dynasty where a commoner became the emperor.

Currently, the drama team of “Goong II” is building a new scenery nearby Hwaseong, Suwon. They are also diligently trying out different filming angles. After the new leads are confirmed begin October, they will immediately start filming. It will then be broadcasted next year in January.

aww i dont know if i want to watch it now since the whole cast is different and all new people...the cast befroe was great sadly they wont come back

i haven't watched the first one yet, though many people said that is was a good series
hopefully when i have time i will watch it
my friends that watch this series will be happy to know there is a sequel ^^

the first one in my opinion really wasn't that great, i've yet to finish it. and i've had it and started watching it about 4 months ago. dunno, it's a interesting plot, but it's sort of long winded

i agreee...... i don't feel like watching it now seem it's different pplz.. i wanna see kim jung hoon.. he so CUTE!!!!!!!! sigh.... they should just give a different name... instead of goong II...

i thought it was confirmed that the old cast would be in goong 2. arg this is so frustrating! i wonder why yeh decided not to film. i know she wanted to.

I hope Goong part 2 will have the same characters and if they change it,I don't think it will be good.Many people like the characters in part 1 and it will not be very interesting.

NOOOOO! the orginal cast are not coming back for the sequel. i was hoping that the sequel will continue with the first one cus i really wanted to see how they will take care of the baby! the 4 new lead makes me not want to watch it but the plot seems interesting. dunno if i will watch it or not now.

I am not sure if I still want to watch it cause I really like first sequel of goong 2 and the old cast. hope Goong 2 won't be disappointing to watch.

At first I didn't like that the original cast was not coming back. But maybe it's a good thing because if it turned out awful than it would be like another Meteor Garden. Actually I'm looking forward to a new cast.

i think he's making a wrong decision by filming a sequel without the original cast members. might as well name it something else then. it's no longer a sequel but just another series with a similar synopsis. i really wanted to see the whole cast again. too bad =/

awww...darn! but this kinda sounds like goong but a male version where they trained yoon eun hye to be the future queen...maybe ill watch it....depending on if the guys are cute!!

aww... i was looking forward for the same cast. since its a sequal i would want them to be the same people. Like in how goong ended. It would just seem odd for them to change cast. But oh well. I hope this sequal is as good or better than the first one!

wow....sad to know that the main leads from Goong aren't gonna be in the sequel. wish them luck in the sequel though

Aaarrrgghhh! : I can't believe that the original cast is not participating. : Like everyone else said, I want to see how they will raise the baby and how their marriage life would be. Not only that, I was hoping that yul will find a new love and be happy. I'm sad to hear this. : Replacing the old cast, might as well replace the name. I don't know if this will be like the first sequel because it took the original cast to make it what it was. I'm really disappointed, but I think that I will still watch it, just to see what happens.

OMG...i LOVE Kim Jung Hoon in GOONG!!...too bad he's not gonna be in it anymore =(...o well...at least the 2nd movie has a "new" plot to it instead of setting ppl up with arranged marriages...altho the "new" plot sounds A LOT like princess diaries...but i liked princess diaries so i support this new change =)...hopefully they'll find a lovable guy to play the part!...lol...because i didn't really like the main in this one

woah! i think i expected and trusted too much from what they said about they would love to go back for the sequel...guess what?! SHAME on them!!! this is soo frustrating..after what? how many months of anticipating that they would come back and this is all we end up?? i hope those casts who refuse to take the role could find something(project) that will surpass GOONG. wow this is just like mike he and rainie's thing. Flake actors man! this was the series that shot them to stardom and yet they're abandoning it for "other projects." I mean come on talk about being ungrateful to the fans and makers of the series waiting for the sequel. ridiculous!

Too bad...It won't be the same without Joo Ji Hoon and Yoon Eun Hye. They're probably busy with other work after the success of the first series so they weren't able to film this series or they're afraid it won't do as well as the first one.

WHAT?! I thought it was ALREADY confirmed taht the original characters were going to be in it!!! WHY??? WHY?? WHY??? OMGOSH! -sighs- Then again, as much as I'm angry about this, I think that it's a pretty good idea that they are getting new people for GOONG 2 because if they were going to go with the original characters, then I think the plot of GOONG 2 would be pretty boring because Shin&CG is already together at the end of it---what else can the producers do to write about their lives?? another person that will get in their way?? haha, too cliche, don't you think?? And, hehe, I really like this new plot idea!! I think it sounds very interesting and cute at the same time! oh man...noooo I was hoping for the old cast as well! I think it's better if they just called it another name other than "goong 2" since the plot is totally different and the ppl are different...there's totally no relationship to the first one! the new plot sound nice,but i still ike the old cast.since kim jung hoon is not in it anymore,i dont see myself anticipating goong 2 that much anymore.hahhas.

Very sad to hear that the original casts of Goong will not be acting for the sequel.
Hopefully this sequel will be as good as the 1st part.
