![]() It was close but didn’t happen. It was revealed that Jang Geun Seuk was a prime candidate for the role of Goo Joon Pyo during the initial casting for the roles in KBS Boys Before Flowers, but Lee Min Ho got the role in the end. Boys Before Flowers went through a long period of casting and auditions last year before beginning its broadcast on 5th January. Many were concerned over the casting for the popular adapation of the Japanese manga which has millions of readers worldwide and had been made into a drama in Taiwan and Japan over the past few years. But the initial casting stage wasn’t plain sailing. According to someone from KBS, Jang Geun Seuk had been a prime candidate for the role of Goo Joon Pyo but he wanted the role of Yoon Ji Ho instead. Group Eight, the production company behind Boys Before Flowers expressed that SS501 leader, Kim Hyun Joong had already been pre-selected for the role already. And this explains why there was a long delay in confirming Kim Hyun Joong for Boys Before Flowers even though there were rumors then. Thus, a competition started brewing between Jang Geuk Seuk and Kim Hyun Joong for the role of Yoon Ji Ho. At the same time, fans of Kim Hyun Joong started leaving messages for Group Eight, expressing that Hyun Joong was most definitely able to portray the character and also sent in photos of Hyun Joong which resembled Yoon Ji Ho a lot to strengthen their case. In the end, Jang Geun Seuk gave up on the role automatically after failing to get a definite response from Group Eight and took on Beethoven Virus. source: coolsmurf |

I definitely love him in Beethoven virus, so I'm glad he eventually took on that role instead of Boys over flowers! But I would support him either way... no matter what role he portrays, he does it well~

so it was Jang Geun Seuk the prime candidate for the role of Goo Joon Pyo.
but still, I'm happy that he didn't accept this role because he fits in Beethoven Virus. and Min Ho fits his role in Boys Before Flowers. ^^ |

I just finished Beethoven Virus and after seeing that, I wish he HAD taken the role of Goo Joon Pyo, because I bet Boys Before Flowers is a MILLION times better than Beethoven Virus. I was really disappointed in BV, but absolutely LOVED my JGS in it.
I'm thinking he probably didn't want the role of Goo Joon Pyo because it would have been too much like his role in Hong Gil Dong. The hardass who has a soft spot for the girl. It would have been awesome if he could have landed the Yoon Ji Hoo that he wanted, but JGS would have been such a freakin' FANTASTIC Domyoji Tsukasa though! However, Lee Min Ho really does look the part impeccably! I can't wait till this drama is complete so I can watch it! <3 ~Tiffiany~ |

yah... JGS would have been great as jun pyo... but he doesn't like the role... sad... but that's ok, he is good in BV. very good in deed... but i don't think he'll fit better than hyun joong as yoon ji hoo, although he's a very good actor, he's physical appearance fits better as goo jun pyo's and not ji hoo.
and i'm loving min ho too... he is charming... that adds up to the very charming and interesting character of goo joon pyo. haha i'm currently in love with min ho too xD BUT Jang Geun Suk IS my love! He should have taken the Goo Joon Pyo character!!! Why does Geun Suk always play the hot character that never gets the girl T___T AHCK! but it's okay lol. Min Ho is good too what? min ho's laugh sounds fake, haha yes a bit... but don't you find it cute and charming, especially when he's very happy... it seemed natural to me, for the character of goo joon pyo, weird but it definitely suits the character, you'll see the very opposite side of joon pyo when he laughs. haha |

Im already liking Lee MinHo as JoonPyo.
Jang Geun Seuk would have been a good So Yee Jung, because he is so goodlooking, he has a sexy face, which would have made him a convincing ladies man. But Kim Bum got that part. I honestly thought Kim Bum suited Yun Ji Hoo's character. Because he had an expressive face. Judging from his previous acting stints, he does it very well either as a naive, kind boy and a tough strong willed character. |
