Lulu Ng Caused Distressed Woman’s Suicide?

ATV actress, Lulu Ng Lu Yan was allegedly involved with a wealthy married man, Fung Chiu Chak and implicated in his wife’s recent death. Married to Mr. Fung for 20 years, Emily Gu Lai Wah (younger sister of retired actress, Gu Mei Wah), was distressed by her husband’s infidelity. Emily had a failed suicide attempt in December 2008 via air injection with a needle. On May 2, 2009, Emily committed suicide and died by hanging herself at home.

The Night of the Suicide

Since last year, Mr. Fung moved out of his home with Emily and lived at Lulu’s apartment instead. On the day of the suicide, Mr. Fung played golf in the morning. Lulu normally accompanied him on his golf outings. However she had to attend Sing Pao’s 70th Anniversary celebratory event that night. Thus Mr. Fung returned home to have dinner with his wife, Emily at home.

According to Emily’s close friend, Lulu called Mr. Fung numerous times and claimed that she was drunk [and needed a ride home]. After arguing with his wife, Mr. Fung left the house to meet with Lulu. Left alone, the emotionally distraught Emily committed suicide.

At 11 PM, Emily’s body was discovered by family members. Mr. Fung sent her to Queen Mary Hospital, where she was certified dead. Emily’s parents and elder sister, retired actress, Gu Mei Wah, arrived at the hospital to see Emily for the last time. Gu Mei Wah said in grief, "We do not want to talk at this time."

Alleged, after Lulu heard about Emily’s suicide that night, Lulu immediately called metaphysicist, Ng Pui Fu, for advice. Lulu was afraid that Emily’s disturbed soul would be revengeful. Mr. Ng said, "LuLu did call me. I told her as long as she had a clear conscience, then Emily’s spirit will not bother her. Usually, suicide victims who die by hanging themselves possess a very angry and vengeful spirit. Their soul will only be pacified if they drag down the person who caused their death. I will be conducting some spiritual ceremonies to help pray for her [Lulu’s] safety and change her luck.”

The Wealthy Fung Chiu Chak

The 53-year-old Mr. Fung is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Tysan Group Holdings Co., Ltd. Mr. Fung is engaged in building property foundations and his main business customers are the Buildings Department and the Housing Authority in Hong Kong and Macau. He also has property development and investments in China. Tysan Group has a market value of about $430 million (HKD), of which he possesses 8% of the shares. The property that he shared with Emily is worth $ 41 million (HKD) and he owns another property valued at $ 15 million (HKD).

The Funeral

After Emily passed away, Gu Mei Wah wanted to handle the funeral arrangements. However, Mr. Fung insisted on handling the arrangements. On May 3rd, Mr. Fung was spotted driving his car from the apartment he shared with Lulu. Since numerous reporters were waiting for Lulu to emerge from the building, Mr. Fung parked behind the reporters and waited until the crowd dispersed. Afterwards, he went to the funeral parlor and purchased the coffin for his wife’s upcoming burial.

Reporters clamored to take photographs of Mr. Fung when he emerged from the funeral parlor. Mr. Fung appeared tired and uncomfortable, often using his hands to shield his face. To avoid reporters photographing his car, he took a taxi when returning to the apartment he shared with Lulu and did not go out again that day.

Lulu and Mr. Fung’s Affair

In the first half of 2008, Lulu was still dating Cheung Hung Chi, the son of the founder of Biao-Hua Group. At the time, she told friends that she intended to leave ATV and get married with Mr. Cheung. However, soon afterwards, Lulu fell for the 53-year-old Mr. Fung despite his marital status.

In December 2008, Mr. Fung’s wife, Emily attempted suicide for the first time via air injection into the veins. The suicide attempt received wide coverage and it was also at this time that Mr. Fung’s affair with Lulu was exposed publicly.

At that time, Lulu adamantly denied her involvement with the married Mr. Fung. She was also rumored to have received an abortion then. Emily’s sister, Gu Mei Wah, publicly criticized Lulu and their war of words was featured in the daily tabloids. Lulu burst into tears and said to East Weekly Magazine at the time, “Does she [Gu Mei Wah] wish to push me to commit suicide?” Lulu’s mother accompanied Lulu at several public events and defended her daughter, “Lulu is a good girl. I trust her and fully support her.”

In fact, Lulu apparently has a way in charming men. Although she has only known Mr. Fung for half a year, she persuaded him to move out from the 3,000 square feet house he shared with Emily. Afterwards, Mr. Fung purchased the current apartment he shares with Lulu in the Grand Promenade, as well as the Audi that she currently drives.

After Emily’s first failed attempted suicide, Mr. Fung dispelled the idea of obtaining a divorce. Although Lulu said, “Mr. Fung and I have not been in touch for a long time,” the pair continued to live together. Since Emily was emotionally unstable, Mr. Fung visited his wife daily. Emily’s close friend revealed, “Mr. Fung will sometimes will eat breakfast or dinner at Emily’s apartment. Or he may go there to change his clothes, then he will go back to that woman’s [Lulu’s] apartment to spend the night.” It is understood that Mr. Fung enjoyed going out to have fun, but still respected his wife. It was not until he met Lulu that he [moved out], thus leading to Emily’s tragic death.

Lulu’s Mother: “We Are Not Money Hungry!”

After Emily’s suicide, Lulu has been depressed. She took a temporary hiatus from ATV work arrangments and aside from her mother, Mr. Fung, and ex-boyfriend Cheung Hung Chi, Lulu has not met with other people. Originally, Lulu intended to attend her younger sister’s university graduation ceremony in the USA, but the plans have been cancelled.

The third day after Emily died, Gu Mei Wah publicly criticized Lulu. Gu Mei Wah said that Lulu and Mr. Fung continued their affair despite Lulu’s public denials. In a telephone interview, Lulu said, "What can I say now?” (You are not going to defend yourself?) “During this phase (Emily’s suicide), no matter what I say is meaningless. This is because everyone will believe whatever Gu Mei Wah says.”

Did Mr. Fung purchase Lulu’s apartment in the Grand Promenade and also the Audi car she drives? Lulu said, “Of course not.” (Metaphysicist Ng Pui Fu claimed that you sought his advice regarding dispelling angry suicide victims?) “I did not seek out Mr. Ng. He left me a text message to contact him. Anyway, I do not want to discuss this anymore.” Lulu quickly hung up the telephone and ended the interview.

After Emily’s death, Lulu was once again perceived as a liar for denying her continued affair with Mr. Fung. Lulu’s mother came to her daughter’s defense, “Lulu has an introverted personality. She will not publicly defend herself nor explain matters to others as long as she has a clear conscience. We are saddened by Emily’s death as well, but do not want to be implicated in the matter. Although our family is not considered wealthy, I did send Lulu to university for 5 years in the USA, which cost several millions of dollars (HKD). After she returned to Hong Kong for work, we supported her initial expenses. I paid for the Audi car that Lulu is driving and her father is paid for her apartment at the Grand Promenade. There is no need for us to be hungry towards other people’s money."

Allegedly, Lulu’s mother once suggested that Lulu obtain a Masters in the USA and remove herself from the gossip in Hong Kong. (Lulu already has a Computer Engineering Bachelor’s degree from UCLA). However, Lulu still has an existing contract with ATV and she is still interested in furthering her career in the entertainment industry, thus she has been unable to make a decision.

The 28 year-old Lulu jump-started her career by participating in the 2004 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, the same year that Kate Tsui Chi San and Queenie Chu Wai Man were placed. During the talent section, she played the piano and although favored to be placed, Lulu only managed to get in the top four contestants.

After the Miss Hong Kong Pageant, Lulu signed with ATV and acted in series such as 《大城小故 事》、《義無反顧 》and 《危險人物 》. Lulu has often been embroiled in scandals. In 2006, she was rumored to be competing with Sheila Chan Suk Lan over Li Kai Mo. Later, Lulu was rumored to be dating Cheung Hung Chi, whose wealthy family assets were valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. Since July 2008, Lulu has been romantically linked with the married Fung Chiu Chak.

What?? So his wife knew he was cheating on her? If I was her, instead of committing suicide I would divorce him and make sure I get at least half of his assets! What a total asshole!! May she rest in peace..

ding dong not a lot of women in hk are so brave, especially since after they marry all they do is sit at home and maybe sometimes play some mahjong with other rich wives..

I think this news is very sad, hope that lulu ng dies, or Fung Chiu Chak finds another younger mistress so she can 'feel' the same pain, but i am not even sure if she'll feel the pain since obviously she IS money hungry and by that time probably would have found another rich guy again

i like to call these girls HOOKERS

RIP Emily

I do feel sad on her suicide. But sometime both parties have to be responsible. We should ask ourselves why the husband is looking for a younger woman.

If Lulu defend herself that she wasn't the third person in their relationship noone will believe her when the wife committed suicide last week and her sister kept badmouthing about Lulu.
Why you guys and girls blame on the third person when you should blame the guy for cheating on his wife and should the wife ask herself why her husband was cheating on her? He might cheat on her with somebody else.
East Weekly is well known to create false rumour towards artists.

obviously marriage takes 2 to make it work. but how can more wrongs bring any right? i would no more excuse a man for taking on mistress because his wife "drove" him to it, than i would a wife taking on outside lover because her husband is pathetic. people got to hold themselves accountable for all their decisions and actions - including pain an joy they give others. be mature & responsible adults geez.

i totally agree. why do people always blame the women when both parties are at fault. they both should go to hell. but yet again, from what i understood, the husband did want a divorce so its not like he was lingering both parties on. the divorse fail because of his wife's condition. botton line, its wrong to cheat and be a 3rd person to begin with. what goes around comes around, lulu will feel miserabe for the rest of her life.
