China version ‘Meteor Garden’, Shan Chai’s name is changed to Chu Yu Qian? Recently, SARFT released info about the China version ‘Meteor Garden’ on its official website and shocked many people. Yesterday, many netizens commented: “Plot is very inspirational, names are too Qiong Yao.”

Shan Cai’s name changed to Chu Yu Qian

Earlier, there were rumours that ‘Meteor Garden’ would be changed to ‘Meteor Rain.’ Yesterday, amongst the info that SARFT released, this has been confirmed. ‘Meteor Rain’ is set to have 35 episodes, and will begin filming in March; the whole filming process will take around 3 months.

According to the content displayed online, Chu Yu Qian is a 3rd year high-school student and is a high academic achiever. Her uncle borrows money so to send her to a good university to study. Yun Hai, Duan Mu Lei, Xi Men Rui Qian and Ye Shuo are 4 guys that are regarded as idols by girls in their school. However, these names scared the daylights out of netizens and they exclaimed: “Names are too Qiong Yao.”

“Romantic drama becomes inspirational drama”

‘Meteor Garden’ is a classic romantic idol drama but the China version has decided to make changes to the plot: After going through many twists and turns, Chu Yu Qian and F4 grow and mature during their school years and learn to self-rely to achieve their dreams. This has become the focus of netizen’s talks, they commented that the scriptwriter is very tough: “Turning a romantic drama into an inspirational drama.”

‘Meteor Rain’ has not even begun filming yet, and has already led to criticism. Yesterday, reporters contacted the drama’s publicity staff and they expressed: “We’re still on our spring holiday, we don’t know much about the situation.” And according to another insider, the info that has been released is mainly accurate, but the names and other details are still under discussion. Currently, it’s only set temporarily, can be subject to change at any time.

i don't think the China version will be as big as the Taiwanese version since many people would STILL think that it's almost the same thing. However, choosing the perfect cast might do them some good. they'll just have to pick the best and the popular actors for this show as to ensure viewership...

ANOTHER ONE?! *jawdrop* Enough already! Seriously enough! There's been 3 remakes. I was already halfway irritated with the Korean one, and now China's churning out another one? I'm not saying itsbad. I'm glad HYD/BOF/MG has such a wide range of acknowledgement, but after 3 diff versions and 6 years, its seriously getting old. >.<

Before BOF was release, i was like "HUH another remake, same plot, getting me bored". But as a k-fanatic, i wouldnt just dont watch so i try it out and the first few episode was not enough to get me into the story but as the recent episodes that came out, it really get my attention back! since they're difference(NOT REALLY DRASTIC) and it have another feeling.

But i doubt about the china version, china dramas are always draggy(i never ever finish a china drama). and does BOF/HYD/MG need 35 episodes?!!! (actually the season 2 of MG was also not that interesting as the first one). So its predicted to be draggy?! phew. but would simply try it out and give a try

yeah.. why so secretive...

MG taiwan will always be the best...

and changing names?!?!?!

Quote

Yun Hai, Duan Mu Lei, Xi Men Rui Qian and Ye Shuo

Lei and Ximen still familiar.. hahaha...

can't they just make a whole new series... not to be familiar with Meteor Garden... since they will change names... plot...

the names are quite weird..
all HyD adaptations are big hits and the common factor of those series is that the storyline is lighthearted yet romantic..why turn it into an inspirational drama??
we'll see how it goes..=D

okay, so originally i was really against the fourth gazillion remake of meteor garden, but i'm starting to get really excited about it. i'm looking forward to seeing what kind of spin the chinese writers will put on the drama in order to make it new and fresh again. i enjoyed mg (tw) a lot, and am really loving boys over flowers right now - they've added different scenes and different types of emotion to the story. haven't seen hana yori dango yet, but i might take a look at it when i'm done with bof.

so the China version of Meteor Garden is finally pushing through.. a bit skeptical of this one though.. dramas made in China doesn't really appeal to me that much.. hope they give justice to the original manga.. ;)

What does "Qiong Yao" mean? Weird? Awkward?

Hmm... I don't watch Chinese dramas so I probably won't watch this. I like how their changing the story up a bit. It would have DEFINITELY been overkill to make it exactly like MG. However, why name it so similarly? Why have the "Meteor" in it at all? People will know what story it is without throwing that in there. They shouldn't have named it that. Esp since there already was the Taiwanese Meteor Rain...

As much as I'm enjoying the Korean version of Boys Before Flowers, I don't think I'm going to watch this version...It's too much for me...Beside, I never finish the Taiwanese version since it becomes stupid...and 35 episodes???? No way! Way too much. If it was a drama that takes place in ancient time I would watch it even if there are 60 episodes, but modern day drama about love that are that long are just too draggy.

Qiong Yao is a v. famous Chinese writer and most of her novels have been turned into dramas. She wrote 'Princess Returning Pearl' and 'Romance In The Rain' etc
she has a v. distinctive style so I guess that's why people are referring to her

anyways, as much as I dont like how they are making another re-make of MG, IMO Chinese dramas are pretty good. They are much more mature & deep, so I was not surprised when they said they were gonna turn it into an inspirational drama LOL, but I guess that doesn't really appeal to the younger generation.

about the actors.. sina released article yesterday which I will translate soon! :)

Wow Meteor Rain is sure weird. Where's the romance? This new form of the drama seems too communist.

wtf!? ANOTHER one!?!?! are we running out of ideas or what? somebody hire new creative directors and script writers. meteor garden has wayyyy too many remakes. ridiculous. i doubt it'll make it more popular because people will see it and go "wtf, four versions?" and at most watch two and leave it be. i hope this one bombs.

Hmmm :/

I'm really not looking forward to this one.

Too many remakes is a baaaaaaaaad idea.

I mean, I was apprehensive about the Korean version but it's my favourite version by far. But now with this...
hmmmmm...

Just stop. Si'l vous plais.

I dont know whether it's because CHINA is making a remake version and that's why many people don't really want to watch it.

I think lately China has been doing quite good. Although I'm not a fan of the Chinese version "Ugly Betty", it has turned out pretty good.

I feel like many fans are turning to Korean and Japanese because they are HOTTER guys, but I think people should at least give the Chinese version a chance. When Korean version came out, I was pretty irritated. I hope people will come to accept the Chinese version :)

i mean this is 4th remake...it's getting really boring to c
da same plot ovr and ovr again.
tho im enjoying and loving BFF...
i dont want to c another remake of it again...
unless sumone frm Hollywood would remake(which i doubt) HYD,
otherwise im not going to watch anymore remakes of HYD.
but i'm still curious about the cast
they will prob need a veryveryvery close to perfect cast if they want dis to b sucessful

All these remakes of Meteor Garden has been overwhelming. Of course I'm a bit biased, but the Taiwanese one has been the classic for me. I haven't seen the Japanese or Korean one, but I don't think this Chinese version would beat any of them. :X Not to mention they should have told us who's gonna be playing who.

Btw, why would they name it Meteor Rain? There is already a Taiwanese Meteor Rain.

Oh my gosh, honestly, there's just TOO many versions of this drama and the Korean version hasn't even finished airing yet another version is being considered. If this series get remade again, I'll most likely not watch it even though I'm enjoying the K-version right now. Too much adaptations...makes me feel like this anime is overrated. :whistle

China probably didn't want to lose out to Japan, Korea, and Taiwan so they decided to have their own version as well <_<

The author of the original HYD manga is probably earning big bucks right now ROFL
