Pop Stars Vie to Play Bruce Lee
CRIENGLISH.com

Jay Chou and Aaron Kwok are in the running to star as the ultimate martial-arts icon Bruce Lee in a possible sequel to 'Ip Man'.

He lists Jet Li as one of his idols; penned a song called "Nunchucks" and his most recent movie is called "Kung Fu Dunk". Now he's in the running to star as the ultimate martial-arts icon - Bruce Lee.

Hong Kong director Wilson Yip said Monday that he's considering Taiwan pop sensation Jay Chou for the role of Lee in the sequel to his recently released film "Ip Man", a biography of Lee's kung-fu master.

Also in his sights to star as the king of kung-fu cinema is another singer-turned-actor, Hong Kong's Aaron Kwok.

"Aaron Kwok will bring his unique qualities to the role of Bruce Lee. Jay Chou will bring his unique qualities. I will prepare a different script for each actor and see who is interested," Yip told The Associated Press.

He said Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen would reprise his role as the title character, Ip Man.

"Ip Man" is based on the life of the legendary master of wing chun -- a kung fu style that traces its roots to a monk from the famed Shaolin Temple.

The film ends with Ip's move from his hometown of Foshan to neighboring Hong Kong. It was in Hong Kong that Ip met 13-year-old Lee and took him under his wing.

Yip said the follow-up film will focus on Ip's relationship with his most famous disciple.

Polly Chan, a publicist for Hong Kong's Mandarin Films Ltd, confirmed that the company has plans to make a sequel but the final decision depends on the box office results for the original.

it's going to be really hard to find someone to play the role of bruce lee, neither of them can in my opinion. But I do want to see the movie.

oh cmon already. stop the crass commercialism. just becoz jay chou is th hottest name at the moment doesnt mean you can put him in any role.

doesnt matter if it's a new face or not, just cast somebody who has some martial arts background and does justice to the name of Bruce Lee.

besides, the article mentions:-

"The film ends with Ip's move from his hometown of Foshan to neighboring Hong Kong. It was in Hong Kong that Ip met 13-year-old Lee and took him under his wing."

how can aaron or jay be even considered for this?

Oh MAN. <_< No matter how much I love Jay I really really really don't think he can pull the Bruce Lee look off.
It will look funny to everyone because his singer image is just burned too fiercely into everyone's minds already.

Hmmm..this is going ot be interesting.
As much as I love Jay, his character isnt a Bruce Lee type.
And well Aaron Kwok, I gotta say hes too much of a goody boy kind of image so I dont think that he can pull off the part.
But I gotta say there isnt really any actor out there that I think is suited for Bruce's part.
Im a big fan of Jay and Bruce Lee so I just want to see each of them get the best!
Cant wait to see how everything turns out!
