SM seems to running out of money or ideas because he decided to plagiarize for SHINee's first album.

SHINee will release their title song "You're Like My Oxygen" on Aug. 22, ahead of the official release for their first full album. But this title song was jacked from Denmark's star singer, Martin Hoberg Hedegaard, a 15 year old boy who won 1st place in Denmark's X-Factor show (similar to American Idol). SHINee's plagiarized song is their own take on Hedegaard's hit song "Show the World", which boasts a disco/punk beat and black rhythms.

SHINee already performed their title song "You're Like My Oxygen" at the SM TOWN '08 concert. But check out Denmark's Martin Hedegaard's orginal "Show the World" that displays his unique vocals.

Nikki: Sigh SM and their recycling.

clicking into the source's link (shen yue pop), the author did specify that SM did announce that the song was taken from Martin Hedegaard's.

The thing is just that it's silly from SM to do so and degrade such a young and new boyband sleep.gif

NO WAAYYYYYYYYY!! Kpop not original?!?! =O!!!!

I'm sick of the plagiarism claims, most likely, the company bought the rights from the composer. No one ever plagiarize a whole song =.=". And people need to stop treating it like a new thing.

SM has already stated that it was a remake of the song 'Show the World.' Yes, I think it was a horrible idea of them to make a remake of someone's else's song, but I think it's even worst that they made it a title song. But it's already been done, I just hope SHINee doesn't get too affected by this. I will continue to look forward to their new album and support them (: Fighting!

Edit:
I just listened to the original song, and WOW! It was exactly the same song, just different languages, so much for a remake, SM. I honestly hope SHINee the best!

SM Ent. DID state that it was a cover/remake of Martin Hedegaard's song though. unsure.gif But still, has Lee SooMan really run out of ideas now?

I reallyy hope SHINee won't get affected too much by this issue. LSM......... sleep.gif

As people already said the company probably bought the rights, and someone said they already said it was a remake but making this the first single of their first album is such a bad idea. They did this with Super Junior too with the twins remake it's just you know a new artist you would think you would want to make something original to distinguish the band instead of a copy. They're just inviting criticism and haters.

I don't think it's plagiarizing if they bought the rights and credit the original on the CD.

But this song isn't as good as Noona You're So Pretty~

How is it plagiarism when someone bought the rights to a song and made no attempt to hide it? I have no problems with cover songs, especially if it's a not-so famous song that not many people have heard before. I don't get why people treat it like Shinee is the most untalented group for singing other people's songs. Everyone does it, including famous grammy winning singers.

Not to say that Shinee will win a grammy of course. tongue.gif

.....sadly I'm not suprised.
SM songs have really been going down since, well, around '05 and '06.
And if you haven't noticed people, SM has done countless remakes (which is somewhat annoying >.>)

Screw SM...
I can't stand them for what they did to Shapley & CSJH The Grace.
So if they copy i hope they get in trouble.
I wish the best of luck for Shinee cause i love them but i can care less for SM..

oh please, it's not like it's the first time SM has done this =.=
Suju's first title song, twins/knock out, was a remake too.

what's the big deal? =.=

SM did it a lot lately.. after SuJu's Twins and Jang Ri In's Timeless.. and now Shinee.. i don't really mind if they remake the songs but why did SM had to choose to use the remake songs for their title songs..

its quite common 4 stars to remake or hv cover songs on their albums..so its okay by me..besides..i'm sure sm ad asked 4 da copyrights since u're like oxygen is an adaptation of the song..besides..i cn bet dat its gonna b a big hit like timeless is when li yin n xiah sang it..after all..when kelly n justin sang it, it wasn't so popular...so give it a chance..n its not just sm..jyp also does dis..so it not uncommon..as long as its bttr then da original singers..its will b fine..

first it's not plagiarized b/c SM already stated that they got the rights to make a redo of that song
so it's not plagiarized

so what if ppl do this...everyone does it as well, not just the korean music industries, american does it as well, but with legal permission

if it wasn't then yeah it's more reasonable for this article
but it was stated that SM did get it legally so it doesn't matter
as long as they asked right? and they got permission to make a re-make of the song

so i don't know why some ppl are making such fuss....weirdos

maybe they bought the right to use it, like a remake
SM do that all the time
and it's not plagiarized if it's a remake
SM never claim they created it, and never claim it's an original
i mean, the company is smarter than playing "plagiarism" since we all know how fuel that issue could be

the way i see, after the plagiarism is blown over and proven false, this all just could be publicity. SM can thank that to the overly sensitive netizen

it's not really plagiarizing if SM had bought the rights already
but i wish they didn't use it as the title song

There is a difference between plagiarizing and actually ask permission to use it wink.gif
But then again, it's ShenYuePop. *rolleyes* Unlike AllKpop (who makes fun of artists, but actually gets their facts straight) or Popseoul, SYP is full of crap really smile.gif

And besides, there are tons of artists who remakes songs. Girls' Generation of SNSD was also a remake of an old song. Big deal.

For those who are interested, here are the copyrights/credits that SM had released with the song:

Hidden Text:

Everyone should just keep in mind that that "article" was written by authors @ SYP, and isn't like an official press-released article. So SHINee won't really be affected or anything...
