Popular idol group Super Junior is invited to participate on the highly-anticipated pan-regional music event "MTV Asia Awards 2008 or MAA 2008" (MTV Networks Asia's Flagship Show) representing one of Korea's popular artists to mingle with other Asian artists from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. Super Junior joins a previously announced list of invited Korean artists including Big Bang, Girls Generation and Wonder Girls.

Avril Lavigne, Fergie of Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake and Linkin Park are also the anticipated guest International artists on the said event to mingle and perform with Asian artists like Super Junior.

MTV Asia Awards 2008 that celebrates and pays tribute to Regional and International Music Talents will be held at the Arena of Stars in Genting - City of Entertainment, Malaysia on August 02, 2008 and will be hosted by Jared Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars.

This year, MAA 2008 will be presenting a total of 16 awards during the show to honor and promote the icons of youth culture and music.

Wow, MTV Asia covers all those countries? While MTV Japan gets their own awards. But I guess it does make sense since Japan has the world's 2nd biggest music industry.

PEOPLE I THINK THERE IS A GLITCH ON THE SITE cos as i investigated furthur, i was thinking wtf. Big bang has 0 percent. which i think impossible. i voted for big bang and then it furthur showed the scores again,it says:

30 percent Big Bang
and it was 32 percent SUper Junior.

so there must be a glitch or it could be in the minute i voted, thousands of other people voted as well and changed the scores dramatically - that is highly unlikely.

where can we find the real tally of votes? I also though its impossible for other groups having 0% tally.

Is it just the winner whos going to be able to see Justin Timberlake and co.? Or is it like, Big Bang, SNSD, SUJU, and Wondergirls whether they win or not.

and its funny DBSK isn't on there....

I don't know how this year's will work out, but in the last one, only the artists (that are guaranteed to get an award) attended the show and performed. This year may be different since Super Junior and Justin Timberlake are already selected to be performing at the awards show.

It's not funny at all that DBSK isn't there. DBSK hasn't done anything in Korea (aside from slightly promoting "Purple Line") that earns them enough credit to be the nominee. Big Bang, Girls' Generation, Super Junior, and Wonder Girls has been very active in Korea the past year (and by far, the most popular), so it's obvious that they're selected.

i think koreans would want big bang to represent korea more than super junior..as for when it comes to showing off music.. was japan not invited.. even though they have their own music awards.. its still asia.. it seems alot of hte asian countries like china and korea leave off japan for alot of stuff. for ASF 2007 one of the ppl in charge didnt want japanese reps there so they invited a really crappy japanese singer instead.. n johnny's didnt come to ASF that year because of the beef with SM they supposedly had with the contract in korea.

also heard SM and johnnys have problems too.. johnnys signed with SM for arashi's concert in korea in 2006.. but during 2007 SM n johnny's got in some beef in 2007. n SM tried to stop arashi's concert in korea for their 2nd asia tour in 2007. but this year arashi is doing a tour.. but no1 knows if SM is going to take charge again.. n AVEX in japan has hold of DBSK n all SM stars in japan because of the long history between SM and avex.. n AVEX and JOHNNYS dont get along at all. (thats a fact)
