Old News :
12/6/03 ![]() [Oriental Daily] Dayo Wong has spent his Christmas filming for new series "Stand Up Sleuth" and was nearly chopped by Lo Mong and his cleaver, leaving him rather scared. Luckily there was no chance of any danger and there was no blood shed. 'Super Sleuth' Dayo was filming an investigation scene in Kowloon City Market where 'Pork butcher' Lo Mong is agitated and picks up his cleaver to strike at people. Dayo takes his team to stop Lo Mong, but they manage to restrain him, but not the cleaver that comes flying towards Dayo and making him weak at the knees. Dayo says that he has to work every day through the Christmas period, so he has not felt any festive atmosphere. He has also used his work as an excuse not to buy any presents for his friends. Dayo laughs: "Giving presents at Christmas was invented by the Capitalists and not Jesus Christ. If Jesus told us to do it then I would do it. So with Christmas presents, I will give them if I have time, but if I am busy then of course I won't give them." With this excuse, then Dayo's girlfriend cannot complain. It turns out that Dayo finds that filming for "Stand Up Sleuth" not hard work at all as he is getting an average of eight hours sleep a night and although the filming time has been extended as a result, he does not mind because he believes it is better to be wide awake at work. When the show first started filming, they did have late night shoots and some hard times, but Dayo could not adjust and fell asleep during filming, when the director had to wake him up and it was rather funny. Therefore Dayo thinks that it is more important to have enough sleep. creds-tvbspacenews.blogspot |

After finishing filming for "Stand-up Sleuth" yesterday, Ada Choi will have a break for a few days ands he plans to go on a trip and as she is prepared for a drop in lucky money this year, she has announced to everyone: "I told all my family and friends that I have had a son and that they should prepare some red packets for my son!"
It turns out that the 'son' Ada is talking about is her new puppy 'Mer Mer'. She adds: "Although my godson (Catherine Hung's son) pulls it around like a remote control car, I will still take it to go and see my godson and will give my godson a lucky packet." She then complains that her good friend never gives her lucky packets: "Take Catherine Hung and Flora Chan for instance, they will not give me any lucky packets, saying that we are the same generation.... so annoying!" As for a new year wish, Ada hopes that everyone's wishes come true and prays for: "SARS not to come back and a fruitful love affair one day for her and her dog, because one day whilst we were out, it jumped onto another dog. It seems that it has needs too, so I will look for a girlfriend for him." credits-http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

![]() [Oriental Daily] Good buddies and partners from TVB's new series "Stand-up Sleuth" - Dayo Wong and Ada Choi offer their wishes to readers for the year of the monkey and hope that everyone is healthy and all your wishes come true. Dayo's new year wish is for an extra scene in the show where he can kiss Ada and he will not give up until he gets it. Ada reveals that Dayo wants to kiss her so much because he wants reveng on her for an arrow. She laughs: "He says that in the past I didn't film kiss scenes and when we were filming a movie together, I still wouldn't kiss him. Then he saw me do a film with Simon Yam where I did a kiss scene and this made him mad, so he is forcing the producer into giving him a scene where he can kiss me." cred-tvbspacenews.blogspot.com |

![]() ![]() ![]() Ada Choi and Dayo Wong were filming in Central yesterday for 'Stand up Sleuth' and they attracted the gaze of many tourists who even crowded around Ada making comments and leaving her a little embarrassed. Yesterday's scene involved Ada chasing Dayo and scolding him and walking down towards the Landmark. As they NG'ed many times and the lines were long and emotional, after the filming, Ada felt a little faint. During filming, many people gathered around to watch and some of the crowd were new year tourists who couldn't stop staring at Ada. When asked if she felt that they were annoying, Ada laughed: "Not annoying, but I felt a little embarrassed because some people started tugging at me and pushing me. They were quite close and I was worried that someone would want to try and kiss me, if they did that I don't know if I should reward them with a slap! I am most afraid when they grab hold of your arm." Ada's slimming company sponsors earlier employed Anita Mui in their adverts and after Anita's death, a mysterious CD-ROM has emerged suggesting there were financial conflicts between them. In response to this, Ada says that she has not read the related reports and not seen the contents of the CD, so she will not comment. She has worked with the company for four or five years now and has just recently renewed her contract. They work under the terms of the contract and there have been no other matters to deal with so she is comfortable working with them. She says that she has known the boss for a while now and find her quite nice, intelligent and honourable. Dayo had three days off for the new year period, how did he spend them? He reveals that he spent two days visiting and one day sleeping, so he did not waste the time. Yesterday was the third day back at work for Dayo after the new year and it turns out that he has not been to Central for five or six years, so returning this time, he is rather moved, because in the past, he did not have enough money to go to Central all the time, now that his financial situation is okay, he has no time. Talking of the crowds for yesterday's filming, Dayo says that he will not find it hard to get into character, but being watched by several hundred pairs of eyes does give him a rather strange feeling. 'Stand-up Sleuth' will finish filming at the end of February, and Dayo reveals he has not yet planned his next piece of work, so he will take a break first. creds-tvbspacenews.blogspot |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Ta Kung Pao, Oriental Daily & The Sun] Dayo Wong and Ada Choi were filming for series "Stand-up Sleuth" on location in Tsimshatsui yesterday and as Ada is due to go out to Australia to make a film at the end of the month, they have been working hard to complete all her scenes. This means that Dayo has had to film for 36 hour slots and as he calls out with exhaustion, his tears are worth it for Ada. With the filming nearly complete, Dayo is 'disappointed' he has not been linked with Ada in any rumours as he jokes: "I have tried to ask her out for a drink at the bar, but she didn't turn up. She is very secretive because she disappears five seconds after we finish work and even though I have declared my love for her on many occasions, I have failed each time. (You have a girlfriend though!) As long as she is fine with that then it is okay!" Dayo goes on to mention that Ada's sprouty teeth are very sexy. Entering the new year, although Dayo has been carrying his lucky packets around with him, he has not given any of them out as he explains: "I thought about it for a long time at home and even went to the bank to get some change for the lucky packets, but I am afraid that if I give one out, then people will think I am trying to be the 'number one' and have people ask me why I am handing them out. So I decided to follow Ada, if she gives them out then so will I, but she turned out to be a miser and didn't give any out. If I am working again for TVB next year, I will hand them out then, even if I have to tighten my belt." As for Ada who is constantly being teased by Dayo, she has never fought back as she says: "I am afraid I will hurt someone, now I have a son (her dog) I have to set a good example and be a gracious lady." Ada has to head back to Guangzhou today to complete her casual wear advertisement and she says she has prepared protective measures such as a mask and handwash. She will not be eating chicken because she can't let anything happen to her, for fear of facing Dayo's wrath! Also when asked if she will have medical insurance like Shirley Cheung's staff, Ada indicates that the sponsors will arrange this for her. creds-tvbspacenews.blogspot |

![]() [Sing Pao, Ta Kung Pao & Oriental Daily] "Star of Brightness" Ada Choi took part in an event for a Children's charity yesterday to raise money to educate the children living in China's mountainous regions and started the show by donating an autographed teddy bear for the auction. With a starting bid of $300, it was won by an 8-year old girl who paid $500 for it. Two years ago, Ada sponsored nearly a hundred children in China and Ethiopia and feels that there are so many people in the world that need a helping hand, so if she has the chance, she would like to go to the mountains and visit the children. The audience also made a $30 donation to have their photos taken with Ada, with some children digging into their lucky packet money. Ada was working yesterday for "Stand-up Sleuth" in the morning and after attending the event in the afternoon, she has to rush back to filming again. Afterwards, Ada will be filming Gospel film "Match Made in Heaven" that covers the moving love story of SARS victim Dr Tse Yuen Man and starring alongside Tse Kwan Ho. When it was mentioned that religious films never make as much money as the commercial movies, Ada emphasises that this film is not just for Christians to enjoy and she will be giving her best performance for it and is not worried about takings. She also says that when recording the soundtrack, she was so touched that she was crying and she feels that the audience will feel the same way. Also with Cecilia Cheung's high profile publicity of her Christian faith recently, but then continuing to smoke afterwards and causing people to question her commitment, Ada still supported her even though she does not know Cecilia. Ada says that people should not see Christians as Saints because they will still fall ill and have to see doctors, taking herself as an example, it has been a while since her conversion, but she still has a bad temper and she feels that the most important thing is in the heart. Ada also says: "Cecilia is just a recent convert, how do you want her to be? Give her a little freedom to get to know God. We are all learning to believe in the Lord and no-one has the right to criticise anyone else." http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com |

![]() Dayo Wong and Ada Choi were filming for new series "Stand-up Sleuth" in a wedding scene yesterday and in the warmer weather, Ada wore a strappy wedding dress and was luckily not feeling the cold and shivering. HOwever, her attractive appearance was of no benefit to Dayo, because the usual kissing scene is missing from this show. ![]() There will be two endings to "Stand-up" and Dayo admits he doesn't know if they will end up successfully taking the wedding photo in the finale as this will depend on the reaction from the audience when the show is aired. However, he laughs that the scene will be without the usual kissing scenes because of Ada's religious reasons for avoiding these scenes and Dayo's hygiene reasons for not wanting to chew another persons lips. ![]() Dayo reveals that previously when they were working together on a movie, Ada had already refused to kiss him on the grounds of her faith: "Then a month later, she was kissing Simon Yam... we don't have any kiss scenes in this show either, so we'll just say that she owes me a kiss. When the time is right, she can repay me, it would be even better if she repays me with money instead. How much? Ten thousand dollars!" At this time, Ada is telling Dayo to shut up and points out that the reason why she didn't kiss him then was because her character was a lesbian and also because she was embarrassed, not because of him. Ada also praises him, saying that he is good-natured, not perverted, no bad breath and good looking and if they get to work again, she will kiss him because there is no way she will replace it with money. Ada says that she is a 'rough bride', but although she is always wearing wedding dresses for her work, she is still full of fantasy about her own wedding. ![]() Dayo says that he stayed at home on Valentines day watching video discs because his girlfriend does not like going to places with a lot of people, so they will stay at home for any festivals. http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com |

![]() ![]() [The Sun] Ada Choi was filming yesterday with Dayo Wong, Michael Tong and Belinda Hamnett for "Stand-up Sleuth" and she revealed that she will be taking five days out to film a movie in Australia and heading out today. Dayo laughed that she has 'many paths', with advertisements and films making her some money: "Ada is an invisible rich lady! I suspect she is the richest female artiste out of them all, a 'Kung Yu Sum of TVB'!" Rather put out by this, Ada returned the comment and revealed that Dayo is also fairly wealthy: "Dayo has a car, has a chauffeur and two apartments. Although he is ugly, he still knows how to make money. All my money is covered in blood and sweat, it is very hard work!" Talking of her show "Armed Reaction IV" achieving 29 points in its first week, Ada says she is not too happy about this: "I thought it would get at least 30 points, but I am confident it will rise." Dayo also revealed that yesterday was his mother's birthday and he will be giving her money as a present. He says: "Because she is in Canada, so I will be sending her money as a birthday. (When will you be getting married? Why don't you give her a daughter-in-law instead?) My mum has given up on this front, but luckily my brothers and sisters have satisfied her on this front and I can hang on for another ten years. (Will your girlfriend be able to 'hang on'?) The first day I met her, she knew I was a drifter. We don't hide anything from each other and not getting married doesn't mean I am unhappy." http://tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

I don't think ada quit officially, just now she has more freedom to explore opportunities outside of tvb...kinda like a free-lance contract. She'll still do tvb series, just not as many as before and now she probably has the advantage of choosing which series she wants to do or not...
I think ada is great actress too...and i'm really looking forward to this series with Dayo. It's been awhile since i've seen a comedy show that actually makes me laugh. I think this should be more interesting than War of Genders, b/c for starters, Dayo looks better with ada than with the older Dodo Cheng... |

This series is really a good break from the normal family/fantasy/modern storyline that TVB has been focusing. We all need a good laugh!!
By the way, i can't really help but to compare Dayo performance this time with his previous effort in War of Genders. I prefer the latter because mainly the feud between Dayo and Dodo is very hillarious. Anyway, applause to Ada because her performance is really good in this series despite the fact that sometimes, the storyline is rather lame... |

It has come to known that the series has been receiving several complaints regarding:
1) Ada Choi's acting - some fans claim that her acting mimics Dodo's character in War of Genders 2) Gilbert Lam - his potrayal as a homosexual 3) Insurance company - it is also claimed that the clean image of 'professional' insurance companies have been tarnished in this series Anyway, f@$k them all because at the end of the day, the i enjoyed watching the series and has also manage some good laugh... That's all that mattered rite? |

Ada's new series "To Catch the Uncatchable" achieved an average of 31 points in its first week and "Twin of Brothers" gained 27 points. Last week's "Number 1 Celebrity Water Games" only achieved 21 points despite the bouncing bosoms of the Miss Hong Kong contestants, falling to a low of 11 points at one stage. The cast of "To Catch" will be holding a celebratory dinner for their good results. Credits to http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

I skip most part of the 5th episode because it didn't focus much on Dayo and Ada. |

i think dayo is doin a pretty good job in this series so far, the chemistry between him and ada are great. i'm also reallie impress by ada's acting skills in comedy, she really does a good job at it. But for my personal liking i still think dayo was funnier in war of genders. but of coursew war of genders was all focusing on comedy, and it was a 100 episode series, they reallie didn't have a storyline in it most part so they could just be funny all the time. but in to catch the uncatchable, it is actually a normal series so they have to have more storyline parts in it + sumtime incorporate funny stuff in it, but it can't be funny all the time because in sum parts it'suppose to be serious.

I gotta say besides dayo and ada being exceptional in this series, marco ng has also brought a side of him that i have not seen before. He was absolutely hilarious in the epidsode 9-10. I luved his 'worn-out look', it was funny just looking at him, poor guy!
The series just gets better and better, can't wait til next weeks episode and watch dayo go for his endurance tests...i'm also anticipating when the the two leads develop feelings for each other. |

QUOTE (goddessofwings @ Aug 1 2004 11 22 PM) DId i grow out of these series or is TVB getting to easy.. i can guess who is the killer way to early in the series.. it just to be a suprise.... I think it's TVB's intention to simplify the cases. Afterall, this is a comedy first, and mystery second. edit Oh yeah, the Infernal Affairs mock scene in eps 10 was mad funny. Anybody know who Belinda Hamnett'z suppose to be with in this series becuz i've always thought that she'z going to end up with Marco 'z chartacter since he's supposely the second leading actor in this series, isn't he??
From what i got from Ep 10, i doubt that's going to happen becuz it seems as thou she's going to end up with that old man..Erwww..Anyway, still need to watch Ep 7-9..Marco is funny in Ep 10 thou..Loved those BAGS UNDER HIS EYES...Very Funny... |

Yes, I agree with you, but then I think that's how the serie is supposed to be like. The audience & Dayo Wong are suppose to have an idea of who is the killer right away. The part that the audience should pay attention to is the part where Dayo Wong finds the evidence to prove that is the correct killer. And of course, we should pay attention to the comedy part, and the character's relationship! |

I luv this show and all, but a pet peeve is how dayo goes over the cases when he solves them and have the criminal practically repeat everything again. It is soooo repetitive and boring as it often states the obvious...feels more like an insult to the audiences intelligences.
Hope they will have less of that and more comedic scenes!!! |
