Short Bio
Terence Yin was born in 1975 in Hong Kong to a movie-director father and a famous-actress mother. He acted in a few films as a child, then immigrated to the United States with his family in 1982, and studied rhetoric at the University of California at Berkeley, only to return to Hong Kong when a Taiwanese record company offered him a singing contract. Thinking he would launch a career in singing, Yin was offered his first movie just three months after returning to Asia, and by the time his first album was released, he had already done several films and decided to focus on acting.
Terence Yin is a Chinese-American actor who hails from Phoenix, Arizona. Terence's mother is Jenny Hu, one of the Shaw Brothers' top dramatic actresses in the late 60's and early 70's. He came to Hong Kong to puruse a career in acting and he made his film debut in 1998. He played the villain Alien in the sci-fi action film Hot War. In the film, Yin spoke both English and Cantonese. He would go on to appear in a vareity of roles, from the gangster Tooth in Gen-X Cops to the psychotic Night in Bullets of Love. In 1999, Terence released an album, Determined. This has been the only album Terence has released so far. With his good singing skill, maybe he should try to release another album...when time permits. Meanwhile, Terence has continued acting, even making his international debut as Simon Yam's brother in the sequel Lara Croft, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life as well as appear in the final installment of Takashi Miike's Dead or Alive trilogy. He also plays one of the Gang of Five in the action packed New Police Story.
