Summary: Ah Fan(Shawn Yu) is an unfortunate kid b/c he lost his parents when he was 5. in order to live, he stops school to sell bamboo in front of the cinema to earn money. One day, Ah Fan and his buddy, Dan(Wong You Nam) saw a girl called Lum(Charlene) whose dancing the lion head and was attracted to her, both of them call her "swordswoman". Very soon, Ah Fan and Lum are very close with each other but Ah fan also understands that Dan likes Lum too, so Ah fan let Dan have Lum. When Lum finds out about this, she hits Ah Fan real hard. Before the moment Fan faints, he vaguely sees some tears in Lum's eye and realizes he hurts Lum. Ah Fan then meets a 'white angel"(Gillian Chung) in the forest and he doesn't want to live alone for the rest of his life so he vows to immerse himself into this relationship no matter what.

another summary : The story a kid (shawn Yu) when he was small his dad died in the toilet he though a cop called cazy kill his dad when he grew up he continue to watch fighting movie and imagine that it was his dad and the cazy guy then his friends saw Charlene playing the drum for the dragon dance his friend like Charlene and so they learne kun fu tere later he was sell sugar crane he saw a girl and follow her to a another island and peek at her(Gillian)from a tree and feel down and ran home the next saw her agian and talk to her and she said she want see outside world and then next day charlene told him that she like him and they went in a date but the guy left cause his friend had a bean up his ass so charlene end up wif that guy friend and that guy ran away cause he though he killed crazy but he reaLLY didn`t and when he come back he was alone cause gillian told him she wanted to see the outside world and he ends up wif hsu chi

I don't know why, but I got a very depressing feeling when I watched this movie. Oh wait, maybe it was boredom. Yes, that's right. This movie is obviously trying to promote the young stars. There were parts that were funny (the guy's horniness) but most of it was just another chase for love. It ended kinda depressing too

maybe the reason you think it's bad is because twins fans are mostly kid, and kids doesnt like classic, deep, and meaningful movie. they prefer twins effect, which is a horrible movie but twins fans praise it like god. Just one look is being known as one of the good hk movie in 2003 (or was it 2002? o.o ). read any review of this movie by professional critics and you'll see. stop saying it's boring because it has no action or crappy fighting scenes like TTE. pshhhh

i tried to stay awake watching this movie with my little sister but i end up falling asleep becasue it was sooo boring ...but she said she liked it

Actually the movie is great. Where do you find backdrops such as the ones which were really original and gave the movie the feel of being in that time and era. If you are used to fast paced movies with action, humour, wise cracking jokes, you'll be disappointed.
Just One Look brings us back in time, where sugarcanes were sold outside cinema and gives insight into the life of village boys, their growing pains and the persistence and the stubborness of Shwan Yue'c character in getting revenge for his father against the man he was so convinced killed him when he was young.
Here's one movie that Twins actually shine. They do not take over the movie like they normally do, blending into the movie nicely and protraying the roles well allowing for characrter building by the rest of the cast.

I kinda liked this one but it had it's boring parts =( And the costumes really reflected the character but poor TWins look soo Dowdy and plain. Too bad the ending wasn't what i expected it was kinda sad =(

This movie came out in 2002 and it's not really a popular one. It's a very nostalgic movie reflecting lives in the 70s, so if you are too young then you won't enjoy it. I usually avoid Twins' movies but I found this one tolerable since it's more serious.

I saw this movie long time ago. If you like young puppy love stories, this is not too bad.

saw this movie quite a while back too. some parts were really hilarious. the nostalgia was made perfect with a sam hui song. overall, its an enjoyable movie for the whole family, cos my dad enjoyed it as well.

yeah, you know its good when your parents are willing to watch it with you. usually i watch hong kong movies by myself. they think the plots are so lame and "dai b".

I personally enjoyed this movie. True, it isn't exactly very interesting, but it was nice to watch something so laid-back after watching so many action and comedy movies.

then they started to act in movies
movies after movies after movies, all are bad or boring. their acting is okay at best.
now if they release a new album, I won't even bother to see it...
I hope the twins girls realize that they are destroying their own reputation by kept releasing this mediocre movies.... at least if you want to make a movie, make a good one, gee......

Review:

Another one of the myriad of recent movies starring the TWINS, this film is actually much better than the presence of the manufactured Cantopop duo would lead you to suspect. In fact, Just One Look is a rather nostalgic, sweet story of young people growing up on one of the less populated HK islands in the 60s and 70s, presented through the prism of the movies of the time, complete with hilarous parodies of some of these classic titles.

The story is rather episodic, driven more by the characters and their interaction than by a tight plot, and since the characters are well-written, this works quite well. Anthony Wong stands out in particular as the local bad guy, but it's mostly an ensemble cast of young and relatively unknown actors (with the aforementioned TWINS playing the two love interests, known as "Ghost" and "Heroine", respectively). The tone of the film is kept quite realistic, although some of the scenes are pretty humourous, and at one point the movie quite inexplicably ventures into choreographed wirefu territory. All in all, a well written, intelligent effort with quite a few similarities to the Italian film Cinema Paradiso.

Cameos by Sam Lee and Shu Qi (the latter one being rather surprising, and quite effective).

Recommended.

i agree, I thought TTE was entertaining but not a good movie. I liked this movie a lot. It's not boring! I love Yau Nam haha.

to me..it was pretty boring too..i watched the first half and stopped for a few weeks then watched the second half..it wasnt very attracting to me

This movie is confusing!!! COuld somebody explain what this movie is about???? Well, this movie is not terrible... I hope Twin is going to have more interesting movies in the future...

basically it's about the director's love for film, thats why theres all of those old films shown.
but it's about first love, and revenge.

wong yau nam did a fantastic job in Just One Look. he is so good !

Woah.. I'm seriously surpirse by the nagative reponses to this movie. Well personally I like it a lot.

For moviegoers, not kids. If you are looking for a decent movie, watch this. If you are looking for cheap "laughs" and bad jokes (70% of the people on here), don't watch this. Twins fans under 15 years old, don't watch this. Anyone who paid to watch Twins Effect and thought it was good, don't watch this. People who only like shallow, meaningless and pointless movies, don't watch this. Have I left anything out? Basically, everyone who doens't recognise a good movie when it's playing in their face for 90 mins, don't watch this. This movie does not try to promote young stars, it concentrates on the story and does not feature useless scenes just for screen time - that's rare.
Need I say more?
