Ariel Lin (林依晨) is filming a new drama currently called 東方茱麗葉 adapted from 東京茱麗葉Tokyo Juliet which is a very popular japanese manga. I haven't read this manga yet myself so I'm not too sure about the story line but she will be playing a fashion designer. The male star is a newbie by the name of 吳尊 or Wu Zun

The young guy is the male lead and the older guy is a famous hong kong actor called 任達華 or Simon Yam. Personally I think the male lead looks sort of funny..but maybe he will look better in the show...I guess he does sort of look Japanese...

There are some people who don't think Ariel is suitable for this role, but apparently the directors and producers of this show really wanted her to be the female lead because they feel that she is perfect for the role - they were even willing to wait for her to come back from studying (this is back when she was going to go to the states to study for a half a year but later changed her mind because her bro was leaving for france and she didn't want to leave her mom by herself).

Has anyone read the manga? Could they tell us a bit more about the plot? As a big Ariel fan I can't wait for this to come out! Ariel was a bit hesitant about accepting this role because she was worried it might be too similar to other characters she has played in the past but she hopes to show a whole new side of her in this show! Also the mangaka for Tokyo Juliet went to Taiwan to see them and she exclaimed that Ariel was 'kawaii'! So I guess Ariel got her seal of approval =)

The male cast is pretty good looking, I hope he acts as good as he looks The guy who plays as her dad goes by Simon Yam in english. I remember he used to play as a Hongkong gangster way way back then. I'm surprised that he's still around and wanted to play in a teenage drama like this one.

Wow...the guy looks pretty young and he's a new star..i think Ariel matchs someone more like Joe Cheng better.

i agree...any of her past male co-stars are better looking and a better match..but maybe he will surprise us!

Its about pretty much about this girl who harbours dreams of being a designer and she swears she wont fall in love till she exacts her revenge on this VERY famous designer who stole her designs which she drew when she was young. Of course, like all dramatic turns, she falls in love with this androgynous-looking boy who (HORRORS OF ALL HORRORS) turns out to be the famous designer's son and the boy whom she met when she was young.

But this guy's really GIRLY and boyish to the point that he looks unsuitable. The male lead is dashing, charming, and really lanky, girlish but yet still oozing machismo.

however after reading this far i think i have to agree that i don't really see ariel playing the main girl. well we have to see how will she do, after all she is one of my favourite actress.

I have the whole set of this manga and i LOVE it!!!! This is a very romantic manga.. one of my favourite!!!! To be honest... the guy is cute, but i don't really think he suits the role though.... Akira is handsome... and he's very HOT in the manga... but this guy is too girlish... so Simon Yam is going to play the evil role?? Akira's father....? Hmm~ sounds very interesting to me now!

oh yea... for Tokyo Juliet, the manga is not ended on chapter 5, i went to see the last page, it seems like it's juz up to volume 2. there are all 13 volume.... and.. i think Mike He would suit the role more.... the producer asked Wu Zun to play the role is maybe the story needs it.

When the lead girl saw the guy for the first time.. she thought " he " was a girl... Maybe Wu zun has a girlish look, so the producer ended up choosing Wu Zun as Akira...

Ariel has TWO more dramas coming out? I thought Tokyo Juliet was the ancient drama. Lol. Oh, this just makes it more exciting! It Started With A Kiss is so good! All of Ariel's dramas are so good. I can't wait! Thanks for informing me about this!

And about the main guy for the series, yeah, he doesn't look like your average leading man but who knows, he might surprise us

THe main charcter looks cute!!! He kind of reminds me of one of the "BOYZ"!!

another idol series that come from japanese manga...i don't like ppl saying that taiwan don't have good stories and pick ideas from japan -.- but this time it think i have to admit it...it's like Meteor Garden, Mars, Devil Beside You, It Started With A Kiss...now is the fifth manga series...i hope next time taiwan can release nice series but that doesn't come from japanese manga...

i hope so too! these series are good...but domestic taiwanese ones have been fine too! like 100% senorita and Qian Jin Mei Mei with Qiao En and Love Contract and Secret Garden, and so far Green Forest has been okay.

they're still filming the series...there hasn't been too much updated about the progress..but it is rumoured it will come out in the spring..so shoudl be soon!

a while ago a lot of newspapers in taiwan were talking about how ariel was getting depressed because she was on a diet for this show..but its not true!

however she is on a diet for this show becauase in it shes a fashion designer so she has to wear a lot of nice clothes..and she wanted to lose more weight so she could look good in the clothes...shes so dedicated! apparently she said she can get fat from just drinking water so shes just been trying hard to eat less and exercise more

hahahha yeah the lead character does look too much of a girl, more so than ariel. Most of the taiwanese guys have that feminine look, but this guy, man he looks really girly. Hopefully he can act.

That pretty boy male lead gotta cut his hai shorter to look more manly. And Ariel acted as students in many series, so in my mind shes like a student forever. And simon is looks sorta young looking to be her father...i know in real life, he is double her age, so its a reasonable father-daughter age.

i really like ariel lin and all the series she's been in. when she cries, i really feel her sadness. i'm looking forward to this new series because i also like simon yam. i wonder if it'll be his own voice or he'll be dubbed.

hmm. i wonder why they would choose to adapt such a low-key manga.. its so different from adaptations like Itazura Na Kiss where its really a popular and high-profile manga.... BUT i've just only started reading this manga recently and i must say that its great!!! can't wait for the show to be out.. but since they are still in the process of filming.. i guess its gonna be a long wait..

If anyone has any information of where we can find the english scanslation for chapter 9-13, that'd be a great help. Now i kinda hooked to this manga, after reading the first 7 chapters. I think it's gonna be a great series. I wonder if they gonna cut out some of the "16&above" scenes..
