02/06/04 --EDiS0N PRACTiCiNG HARD 0N CANT0NESE FR0M THE START

EDiS0N will be very busy this year. Besides having a few movies to film, he is also working on his new album. EDiS0N will have a Cantonese album released on February 26, so he's practicing hard on Cantonese and hope to speak it with accuracy.

EDiS0N said he has a lot of Chinese rap in this album. Even though he grew up in Canada and often spoke Cantonese, he still cant't pronunce words correctly. Now he has decided to fix this problem and want to learn it well, but since his work schedule is already full so it's hard to find the time for learning. "It's hard to rap in Cantonese because the most important thing is pronuncation. Even though others say it's difficult and hard, but I find that it's worth it."

Also, this album represents the new EDiS0N. He hopes that after his fans heard it, they would think of him not only as an idol singer, but someone who's brave enough to try different tpe of music.

EDiS0N will soon release a new Cantonese album by the end of this month. For now, the one thing he wants to do the most is making the new Mandarin album. When talking about this topic, EDiS0N lowered his tone, "I really want to record a Mandarin album, but my company still hasn't made any actual plan yet. I think the earliest would be by the second half of this year because my schedule is already full of the first half of 2004. If my company can plan out sooner and notified me, then.. the earliest would be in August or September for the Mandarin album! But I really can't wait and hope to share it with everyone." EDiS0N paused for a few seconds and then also wanted to thank the fans in Taiwan for their support. Even though he hasn't gone to Taiwan for a while or released any new Mandarin albums, a lot of fans still support him and he's very happy about that. He smiled: "0f course I still want more and more people like me and my music."

What has changed about EDiS0N in the year of 2003? EDiS0N replied seriously: "I've changed a lot and grew more mature," He had his head down and thought for a while on how to describe the changes, then continued: "Actually, it's hard to say what has been changed about me, but I understand more, knowing the importance of family value and true friends, and becoming more clear of what my goal is," What goal has EDiS0N set for himself? The shy EDiS0N answered: "I have a 5-year plan. I hope that I can be the best artist in HK after 5 yars. As for in music, I don't have to be the best selling artist. I just want to make more music that I like to introduce everyone."

(2/1/2004) Edison Chen Koon Hei two nights ago cheered on ten teams of competitors at the 2003 Pepsi music training camp. He said that before he started he thought being a star was simple. "I thought a star sleeps for a dozen hours a day and work for a short time for a lot of money. Since a rare chance came, I agreed. In my first year I didn't know what I was doing." He honestly said that after joining the business he realized making money was hard and is envious of new comers today who have management agency training before officially entering show business. When he first entered, he did not know how to sing or act, he felt a lot of pressure from frequent criticism and lost his confidence on stage

(2/4/2004) Edison Chan Koon Hei days ago worked on his new music video JI YING JI YAU (INSTANT PHOTO INSTANT FRIEND). The director created a rough, daring and stylishly masculine image for Edison. The video was shot in a lumber yard and heavy equipment was used. Edison stood on a forklift, which was risen to 20 feet in the air. As he jumped he almost lost his balance and fell. Luckily he caught himself in time.

02/03 --EDiS0N D0ES EVERYTHiNG F0R HiS NEW ALBUM

0n 1st Feb, EDiS0N went to the "Pepsi new star final battle" with Hanjin Chan & MC. He sang this new song in that show. He said the production problem of his new album has been solved and the album will definitely be released on 26th February, 2004. EDiS0N said he is not really nervous about releasing this album. But he knows releasing album in hip-hop type can be "dangerous" because this kind of music is not popular in HK. He said honestly, "Some people say they sing hip-hop songs. But in fact the music is not hip-hop. I don`t dress up in hip-hop type, but my music is real hip hop lor!"

EDiS0N was stunned speechless when he saw Aaron Kwok dancing in the show. He said, "I have never seen people dancing so energetically since I entered his showbiz. (Reporter: But you are laughing?) Because Aaron holds the mic-stand and he almosts hits me. I laughed of myself being scared."

(1/30/2004) The HK$80 million production THE TWINS EFFECT 2 (CHIN GEI BIN II FA DOH DAI JIN) yesterday held a press conference at the Tuen Mun Equestrian School. Cast members Edison Chan Koon Hei, Twins, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Fan Bing Bing, Qu Ying (Kiu Wing), and Taiwan idol Chen Bo Lin (Chan Pak Lam) appeared on horseback. At the leadership of directors Corey Yuen Kwai and Patrick Leung Pak Kin they participated in a banner unveiling to kick off the film production. The banners said, "Flowers blossom Twin Beauties, Empress Appears in Capital, Chaos cause disaster under Heaven, Warriors save all lives"

Also in the film are Tony Leung Ka Fai, Jackie Chan and his son Chan Cho Ming. This will be Cho Ming's first film and he would use his real family name Fong to join the film industry. Because Cho Ming is currently training in martial arts in Beijing, he did not appear yesterday. Action director Yuen Kwai expressed that Cho Ming is getting basic training in Beijing and said that he of course has his father's genes and should not be decent. If he has only 50% of Jackie Chan's abilities he is already great; but he feels Cho Ming has a lot of potential. As for rumors that Twins' action performances were poor in the last film and needed to be trained again, Yuen Kwai said that actually afterthe last film they already have a lot of great experience.
Leung Pak Kin will be responsible for the film's dramatic parts. Cho Ming, Chen Bo Lin, and Twins will have a four sided love affair. He expressed that he has met with Cho Ming and heard his songs. He felt that Cho Ming is a very romantic person. The press asked if Cho Ming would be as philandering as his father. Leung Pak Kin laughed, "I am talking about art, he is only romantic and not philandering." The film will start production on February 7 and shoot in Yunnan and Guangzhou.
Taiwan popular idol Chen Bo Lin has many action scenes in the film. In terms of the Taiwan press' comparison between him and Chan Cho Ming, Chen Bo Lin said that he will not pay any attention and will focus on the movie. He has not yet heard Cho Ming's songs yet. In the film he has a relationship with Ah Sa, who gives him an impression of cuteness.
Ah Sa in the film will play a pimp who catches a lot of men to be slaves. When asked who may play her slaves, she joked maybe Boy'z. Ah Gil will play a protector of the Empress. THE TWINS EFFECT was the Hong Kong film box office champion last year. Will the sequel bring any pressure? Twins said of course they hope the box office would be good but they would not stress over it because how the film does is not up to just the two of them. They will definitely do their best in their performances.
Chan Koon Hei stressed that he would only talk about the movie during the interview. In the film he will play the only man in a nation of women. When asked if he would find having many women around him in real life troubling, he said, "That's okay."
Because of his leg operation later, Ng Yin Cho will not have too many action scenes in THE TWINS EFFECT 2. He will play a slave of the Empress (Qu Ying). To win her trust his character would willingly become an eunuch. Ng Yin Cho said, "I hope to be able to perform as outstandingly as Lam Ching Ha (Brigitte Lin) in THE SWORDSMAN II (DUNG FONG BUT BEI)." He felt that this character will be very challenging and does not resist playing an effeminine role because it is only a character and not his real personality.
When asked if he would make such a big sacrifice for love in real life, Ng Yin Cho Joked that he has tried to castrate himself but failed because the knife was too dull. He expressed that so far he has not made any big sacrifice for love but does not eliminate the possibility.
Qu Ying will play two roles, the Empress and her sister. She honestly said that she is not afraid that the idols would steal her thunder because will play two characters, which makes her the idol and substance actor.

i dont get why they're making such a big difference in TwinsEffect2..why cant they juss make it a sequel to Twins Effect..not Edison prolly wont even end up with either Charlene or Gillian =(

Edison Chen and Nicholas Tse filming new movie "Sun Jat Si Hing (Newly Brother)"

(1/31/2004) The Wong Jing directed, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Edison Chan Koon Hei, Roy Chow Wing Hung and Hu An starred film SUN JAT SI HING two nights ago shot a car stunt and a gun fight in Kwun Tong. The film has applied for a roadblock before the shoot and several police officers and vehicles were on hand ot assist.

Nicholas and Edison play in the film Kit Jai and Fit Lo, roles that Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Lau Ching Wan played in the TVB series POLICE CADET. Simon Yam Tat Wa and Michelle (Mai Shuet) will play Ting Fung's parents. Tong Chun Yip and Lam Shuet are also in the cast. Gillian Chung Yun Tung will play Maggie Cheung Man Yuk's role Wing Chi. At first she is with Nicholas but she ends up with Edison Chen. Wong Jing stressed that the film only has the same character names. The story and actor interpretations will be completely different. First the actors do not resemble the old cast; in addition the times have changed so the values are diffeernt. Nicholas in the film has car stunts but he will not perform them himself. Both Nicholas and Edison said that because the director said that they do not have to imitate the previous series performances so they have not watched the videos again or thought about performing better than their predecessors. Earlier his mother Deborah Li (Dik Bor Lai) has said that she was already very worried when Nicholas made NEW POLICE STORY and now this film has a series of dangerous performances as well. Nicholas said, "That's OK, because I am not doing the car stunts myself."

Also, Nicholas was asked about his late god sister Anita Mui Yim Fong's manager Marianne and his beauty company sponsor Joyce's dispute and Joyce's claim that Marianne hid Ah Mui's health situation during the contract signing. Nicholas said that he would only talk about the movie and humorously said, "Joyce, isn't that a clothing store?" When asked if he has dined with Marianne, Edison cut in, "The film has a character named Marianne?" The reporters said to Nicholas that they were only asking because work requires them to. He said, "I didn't walk away. I am already standing in a corner! You can ask, I just won't answer."

Roy Chow Wing Hung and Mainland actor Hu An worked on the film as well. Chow Wing Hung plays Lui Fong's role Tall Guy Chuen, but since he is not short at all he said that he could play a real tall guy.
Roy said that in the film Nicholas often takes advantage of him. He said that in real life he is even dumber. Because most of the advantage takers are his friends, he does not mind.
Hu Ah plays Michael Kwan Lai Kit's role Sister Ho. He knew that many people were fighting over this role so he felt very lucky. Because Nicholas and the other spoke Putonghua well, on free time they would help him with the Cantonese script.

In "Twins Effect 2", besides that the characters and storyline are different, the love relationship of the characters are very complicated! EDiS0N is the guard of Gillian Chung and often wants to be close to her, but she only likes the circus boy Jackie Chan`s son. However, he likes Charlene Choi instead but Pak Lim Chan also likes her!

陳冠希（Edison）投身樂壇近三年，曾被指「紅樣不紅歌」，尤其是初期因他廣東話不太流利，故唱歌方面咬字較含糊，有時會聽不清楚他的唱詞，不過Edison今時已不同往日，在昨日公布第十周的商台「雷霆歌曲播放指數」中，Edison的Hip Hop新歌《香港地》作十級跳，一上台就居榜首，除打破該榜七年前紀錄外，還平了張學友當年創下的成績，Edison終於做到「紅樣又紅歌」。

咬字唱歌痛下苦功

Edison相隔了一年才推出的新碟《Please Steal This Album》，他在練咬字及唱功方面下了不少苦功，結果外界對《香港地》的反應沒有令Edison失望，連曾經「批評」過Edison的導演劉偉強也大讚他唱功有進步，劉偉強表示：「以前都聽唔清楚佢唱乜，但而家都聽到啦，清楚好多。」

其中最令Edison感鼓舞的是，《香港地》是在統計香港六個主要電台的「雷霆歌曲播放指數」中，一上榜就居首位，撼低同期的歌手，包括容祖兒、許志安、陳小春、陳慧琳等，成績可謂「鶴立雞群」。

據電台DJ表示，Edison的《香港地》走勢之凌厲，已打破了近七年紀錄，翻查資料，當年同Edison一樣有新歌一上台就打入「雷霆歌曲播放指數」的歌手就是張學友。

昨日Edison接受電話訪問時表示：「聽到呢個消息梗係開心啦，當初接到《香港地》歌詞時，我都有返屋企勁練呢首歌咬字，仲有MC仁錄音時，對我咬字執得好正，所以我要特別多謝幫我錄呢隻碟所有人，當然仲有各位播我首歌電台DJ同唱片公司人員好幫手，多謝晒。」

此外，張學友日前接受訪問時談到太太及女兒被狗仔隊追訪的問題，說情況如果惡化，他寧願選擇離港，也不願家人不開心。

HONG KONG, (AFP) - Hong Kong pop star Edison Chen (news) suffered neck and face injuries during a fight with two teenagers in a busy shopping street, police and press reports say.

Chen, 23, was punched after being approached at around 5:00 pm (0900 GMT) Monday outside a record store on a major intersection in the busy Central retail district, police said.

At that time of the day there would have been thousands of people shopping or leaving their offices.

The two, aged 17 and 16, approached Chen without warning and stared at the singer, police said.

"The subject (Chen) asked them if they recognised him and the dispute began," said a police spokesman.

The South China Morning Post newspaper, quoting witnesses, said the youths mimicked the singer's dance moves before the scuffle broke out.

Chen refused hospital treatment and no arrests were made, police added.

Edison Chen is among the latest wave of Cantonese-language pop singers -- or Canto-pop stars -- whose brand of sugary-sweet love songs and boy-band dance moves have proven a winning formula among Chinese music fans all over Asia.
