Year: 2003
Director: Vincent Kok Tak-Chiu
Cast: Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Miriam Yeung Chin-Wah, Ronald Cheng Chung-Kei, Chapman To Man-Chat, Teresa Caprio, William So Wing-Hong, Patrick Tang Kin-Won, Mark Lui Chun-Tak, Josie Ho Chiu-Yi, Ken Wong Hap-Hei, Anya, Ken Cheung Chi-Hiu, Vincent Kok Tak-Chiu, Rain Li Choi-Wah, Alex Fong Lik-Sun, Shawn Yu Man-Lok, Sammy, Siu Yee, Alex Fong Chung-Sun, Cheung Tat-Ming, Joe Cheng Cho, Maggie Lau Si-Wai, Audrey Fong Chi-Shuen, Tin Kai-Man

Yeung plays Yip Koo-Hung, an incessantly spritely girl who's known as the "Queen of Bad Luck." She's overly superstitious and uses Feng Shui to predict her days, though her success rate isn't especially high. She believes only one man can save her: Lai Liu-Po (Leung), a celebrated Feng Shui master who's also a hit with the ladies. However, his practice has a few important rules, one of which prohibits him from knowing anyone with the surname Yip. It seems that long ago, the ancestors of both Hung and Liu-Po were involved in a Feng Shui disaster which doomed Hung's family and generally made a mess of things. Hung is aware of this rule, and pretends to be named Leung to get around it. She also is immediately smitten with Liu-Po.
However, numerous obstacles get in their way. For one, Lai has to get over his phobia of Yips and realize that Hung is simply too sweet and good a girl to let go. Ronald Cheng shows up as Liu-Po's Feng Shui rival, who's working for Hung's evil stepmother (Teresa Caprio) and a spoiled popstar (Chapman To, in a parody of singer Juno Mak). Other names like Mark Lui, Anya, Cheung Tat-Ming, William So, Shawn Yu, Rain Li, Alex Fong Lik-Sun AND Alex Fong Chung-Sun show up from time to time to lend star credibility to the proceedings.
Eventually, Hung and Liu-Po must battle the bad guys to assure a future of good luck for Hung. That battle involves Fung Shui sequences up the wazoo, Ronald Cheng in drag, planted drugs and a lighting bolt from the heavens. So who will win in the end? and will Hung and and Liu-Po end up together?

I liked this movie - it was pretty funny, even though it was pretty unrealistic. One of the funniest scenes was when Tony Leung walks out of the house drunk, singing and sort of dancing at the same time...hahaha

yup, i liked this movie too, it was pretty funny and i thought that tony leung and miriam played their roles very well, and ronald was also pretty funny, and kinda scary looking when he was dressed like a woman lol.gif

but how come tony's ancestors didn't tell him why he should beware of the yips? after all, they are the ones who ruined their luck

i was surprised by the all-star cast they had, even as small cameos, i thought it was really cool to see rain li and alex fong

i thought the ending was funny, how chapman and them got arrested and after trying so hard, tony finally let miriam move in with him, hehe, a nice, happy ending

I enjoyed it a lot although that I think that it was fairly stupid too. Tony and Miriam are fun to watch but Ronald was obviously the scene stealer by dressing as a woman and having this weird accent. I still remember the uninterested look on William So's face when Ronald was trying to 'seduce' him. lmao.gif Typical Chinese New Year movie where you see the whole cast greeting at the end.

watched this movie more than a couple of times and each time, the joy of watching never diminished. this is a surprisingly good hk comedy which maintains a refreshing feel throughout the movie with a interesting twist to the concept of feng shui. of course the cast was a big help to the movie with tony leung providing eye candy and laughs, miriam yeung providing a funny and erm "herself" performance and chapman and ronald bringing hilarious performances as a xiao bai lian and dressups as a busty woman respectively.

watch this movie for laughs, romance and goodlooking stars like tony and shawn yu! even the theme song for this movie is nice!

Both Tony and Miriam are among my favourite actors in Hong Kong so I was thrilled when this movie came out... Borrowed it from my cousin for a month and watched it everyday XD! It was just too fun, and I love the internet café part "I'll be back"!

This movie is very good, and extremely hilarious. the Fung Shui theme is good and interesting, but the pairing of Miriam and Tony set off some sparks.
There are also so many guest stars.

Hilarious and a loveable cast tongue.gif especially Miriam Yeung is doing fine as usual. Ronald Cheng show us, that he is a good comedian. The only one not really fitted in this romcom is Tony Leung IMO.

This movie was all right. I thought you meant the old movie with Sammo Hung, Eric Tsang, Jacky Chan, and all the other cast. Sammo plays a "slow" but good at kungfu person, while Eric always gets pick on by his "older" brothers. They would all try to con girls into taking off clothes, etc. That was the best movie...

They're called Lucky something too...

The bad people got caught... they tried to frame the cocaine on Tony and Mariam, but the powder got blown in their face instead... haha...

I thought the part when Tony came to check Mariam's apartment's feng-shui was pretty funny. The dead-fish floating on its stomach thing... haha

I thought this movie was choppy at some times and the actors and actresses got series at ood times and fell in love too quickly. There wasn't a great chemistry between Tony and Miriam.

this is a good movie. good casting, a great amount of cameos, funny, i like how the movie started in the ancient times and turns into present time. and during the acient times they were partying with beer but instead of cans they had bamboos shaped like cans pretty cool i thought. i also think that fortune telling is pretty cool after watching this movie.

2003. Tai Seng DVD. 99 minutes.
Directed/Written by Vincent Kok
Starring-Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Miriam Yeung

Lai Ma Po (Tony Leung Chiu-Wai) was a royal feng shui expert and Yip Ku Shing (Miriam Yeung) was a royal scholar. Lai's partner discerned that the Yip family was due for some good luck that might have threatened the emperor's dynasty and his own family fortunes, so he did something that caused three generations of bad luck for Yip and his descendants.

In modern-day Hong Kong, Yip (Miriam Yeung) lives on the spot where the streak of bad luck started. She is a clerk in a clothing shop with terrible luck; she is robbed constantly, keeps on tripping, and so forth. Lai Liu Po (Tony Leung Chiu-Wai) is a feng shui expert advising business clients. On the verge of being fired (again) by her boss (Vincent Kok), Yip seeks Lai's advice to apply feng shui on the job. A romance appears ready to bud between the two, until Lai discovers Yip's family heritage, which is fated to bring bad luck to any who come in contact with her. Since his family motto is: "Know a Yip, Makes a Loss," complications are sure to arise.

I loved this movie, I have the VCD at home myself. It was so funny when Miriam Yeung had such bad luck. Still remember that part when Ronald Cheng was dancing with the drill and Miriam wanted to whack his groin with her stick Lol
