Yep Eason is the best male singer of all canto singers. dunno about his madarin songs. I love his voice. I mean this guy can also sing others peoples songs well.
In his 2003 concert i got fooled when he tried to imitate Alan Tam as i was just listening and not watching the screen laugh.gif

What is there not to like about this album?

This is one of the best (if not the best) album of the year. Every song has its own message. Not to mention all the different genre of songs. Great lyrics, great compositions -- wonderful songs. Great voice -- fantasic singer.

EXTRAORDINARY album.

If you get the NCM Live DVD, Eason proves to you that he's a great live singer.

Eason Chan's Music Highly Praised

Eason Chan’s music has spread to other parts Asia, receiving recognition and praise.

Eason’s newest album, U87, has been chosen to be one of the top 5 albums which should be bought by Epoch Times Magazine. The magazine said that Eason’s level of music is very high and that this album has washed away his past childish image. It also says that Eason’s music can bring out how popular Cantonese music is and in today’s music industry, it is a rarely seen product.

I agree with all of you.....He is such a good singer....

this may be a little random....but I was kind of upset about the way Alan Tam announced the new 4 heavenly kings "sun say dai teen wong"....I really wanted Eason to be one of them....but I guess it was because he took his "break" he was not a part of the four.....I really wanted him to be one of them......I've always thought that he deserved a spot......

I saw a TVB series "triumph in the skies" and realised he was the one who sung its theme song. I just thought it was simply fabulous. I also found out that the original title to this song was "brothers and sisters" and that the lyrics was modified/rewritten specifically for this series.

Can anyone please let me know if he's ever released a "Best of Eason Chan collection" and if not which of his albums do you recommend?

Thanks.

Thanks deepfan for the confirmation. So do you know if he's released a best of Eason Chan or just only albums?

I have never purchased any of his albums but have heard a few of his songs - although I never knew which song came from which album. So any recommendations would be great!

An older Eason Best Hits is "Eason 4 a Change" two newer ones would be Great 5000 Secs Volume 1 and Volume 2.

In my opinion the two Great 5000 Secs are the newer ones which consists more of Eason's greatest hits.

Also, a MUST GET album of Eason's is his newest one "U87" this is by far Eason's best album. It signifies Eason's maturity, Eason's change in recording company, and it has all the types of music that represents Eason.

Another good album is "The Line-Up" and the theme from Triumph In the Sky is in his "Live for Today" album.

Isn't the theme incredible? I loved it when I heard it for the first time.

Thanks for the details happymoviegoer. That would make it so much easier for me to shop for his CDs since I can't read Chinese characters very well. Just a couple more questions though, the Great 5000 Secs album, do Vol 1 & 2 come together as one or are they sold separately? Out of these two "Great 5000 secs" and U87, which one has more slow Cantonese songs (sorry, cause I don't quite understand mandarin)? Thanks heaps for helping me out *hugs*.

Great 5000 Secs Volume 1 and Volume 2 are sold seperately.

If you're someone that doesn't understand the lyrics, but like to listen to good slow cantonese songs then here's what I recommend:

Here's the breakdown for U87:
Tracks 2 and 3 - slow songs, 2 of the best songs, already made it to the charts this year and have been successful
4 - slow song, one of the best, have yet to be recognized
5 - uptempo song, great, Eason has been highly praised for being one of the more difficult songs to sing that he has mastered
6 - slow song, one of the best, only now getting to be known
11 - mandarin, slow song, great song
12 - mandarin, slow song, one of the best, a must-listen song for those that don't like mandarin songs
all the other songs - all good songs with great meaning in its lyrics

Here's the breakdown for volume 1:
Track 1 -new song: good song that I wouldn't consider a slow or uptempo song
2 - new song: uptempo song that I'm not too crazy about
3 - new song: slow song that I think is the best out of the 3 new songs
4 - theme to 'triumph in the sky'
5 - great song, won tvb 2003 top 10 songs of the year
6 - Next Year Today - slow, one of the best, won tvb 2002 best song of the year
7 - Karoke King - slow, one of the best, won tvb 2000 top 10 songs of the year and web fav. song (I believe)
8 - Shall We Talk - slow, one of the best, won tvb 2001 best song of the year
Tracks 11, 17, 18 - slow songs, great songs, 3 of the best slow Eason songs that went without winning awards

My breakdown for volume 2
Tracks 1, 2, 3 - new songs
6 - For Alice - uptempo song, great, a good song to Fur Elise
7 - Katrina - slow song, great song, David Tao's rendition of 'Katrina' in Cantonese, David Tao sang the original version in English (highly recommended)... I forgot who sang 'Katrina' in Mandarin...Eason sang the Cantonese version
11 - Lonely Christmas - Slow song, good song for Christmas

What volume 1 doesn't have that volume 2 has -- Katrina and Lonely Christmas

What volume 2 doesn't have that volume 1 has -- theme to 'triumph in the sky', next year today, karoke king, shall we talk, tracks 11, 17, 18

As you can tell volume 1 consists of more great slow tempo songs by Eason.

No need to thank. I'm glad I'm able to share Eason's music. He's the only singer I will spend time to answer questions about his music.

ENJOY!!!

Looks like it's down to U87 and 5K Secs Vol 1 then!

I live in Australia and very seldom we have an artist's entire collection of albums, series or movies. What frustrates me most is when they can't even relate to the artist you've enquired about so it's best I equipt myself with all the necessary information.

Will definitely check out his albums when I get the chance to.

Cheers.

Eason Chan is definitely a real good singer!! He should be one of the SEI DAI TIN WONG
(4 legendary singers?) lol instead of Andy Hui(no offense but i think he's better) Well, i guessed he wasnt chosen since he's not too good looking...(that doesnt really matter as he sings like a god apart from Jacky Cheung)

Eason yelled at because of his good intent

Yesterday, Eason Chan accepted an interview. During the interview, Eason said he is currently busy with work on his new mandarin album and rehearsing for the Jade Singers TVB Anniversary Celebration. When the topic on singers fighting to become the team leaders, Eason said that all the singers knew that there were going to be bad news on the them nearing the end of the year. Eason thinks that if becoming the team leader makes you win awards at the end of the year, there is no point of the awards. He does not believe the rumours saying that if your team leader, you’ll win the awards. Eason said from looking at a certain point of view, that in order to win the Favourite Male Singer Award, you have to be the favourite. Eason said jokingly that his not favoured and that when going to promote something in a shopping centre, no one would recognise him.

Eason was asked if he was ever yelled at on the street and if he hasn’t that means he is favoured. Eason said that once he and Hilary Tsui were at the airport to catch a plane to go on a holiday. While he was on the escalator, a young girl asked him for his autograph. He only said to the little girl, “We’re nearly there.” Suddenly a house-wife (middle aged lady) turned around and yelled at him. Eason said at the time he did not know what was going on, as he did not say he wasn’t going to give the girl an autograph. In the boarding area, Eason saw the lady again, as he was in a good mood; he walked up to lady and said, “You’re going on a holiday. Be happy!” The lady immediately reacted saying that Eason’s dad was a prisoner in jail and then yelled at Hilary. Eason could not do anything but look helpless and think that his good intent turned wrong. His friends comforted him and said that the lady must have misunderstood him. Looking back at now, Eason thinks that is a very rare incident.
