![]() After being away from TVB for six years, Patrick Tam has filmed two series in a row after returning to his mother home "Juk Sai Ching Jan" (Seed of Hope) and "Mo Ming Tin See 3D" (Nameless Angels 3D), taking the lead male role in both shows and receiving praise from Tsang Lai Chun for his performance. Recently TVB has aired "Seed of Hope" and we can once again enjoy his great acting. With the airing of his show raising his profile in Hong Kong once more, it is little wonder that he says TVB is treating him well. In fact, TVB wants Patrick to continue making series, but after discussion with his manager, he hopes for a break to finish some movie and other series work he has elsewhere. The most important thing is that he needs to prepare for an extremely romantic wedding at the end of the year. Come next year he will give his all once more for TVB as he reveals that he may film a 30 episode series in January. Patrick admits that after leaving TVB, he has been working silently away and seems to have sunken somewhat and signing again with TVB was in the hope of raising his chances of appearing in Hong Kong. He says: "In the past I have spent much time breaking into the mainland market, but I have not wasted the efforts or the time, looking a little wider in the world and seeing the large market in China and the high quality of their filming." As for the suggestion he is not doing well enough elsewhere and has to return, Patrick strongly denies this, saying: "This is definitely not the case, if I wasn't up to it, Chun Jer would not have me as the lead role! Returning to TVB was just a stroke of chance because I rejected them in the past, but this time they were very sincere. My return is to establish myself in the China, Hong Kong and Taiwanese markets." Although Patrick hailed from the 'New Talent Singing Contest', his singing career has never taken off and in 1992, he started his acting career, climbing to lead star status after five years when he saw his chance and headed off to try his luck in other places. Patrick has some huge reflections after 14 years in the business and he says: "If the Patrick Tam of today has still not been able to get to lead status, then I really should be saying bye bye. I have to thank three people: the first is Helen, the second is Leung Choi Yuen and the third is Chun Jer. In those days, when I didn't have a chance to sing, I was introduced into acting by Helen. Although the wage at the time was only $4000 and I had to save up to buy an item of clothing, I worked hard at it and took advantage of this opportunity and finally I managed to get past it." The second person he thanks is Leung Choi Yuen, in 1993 Choi Suk invited him to make his first ancient drama as the lead in "Lai Bo Yee". The third person mentioned is Chun Jer (Tsang Lai Chun) as Patrick says: "Before when 'Chung Wang Sei Hoi' was airing on ATV, Chun Jer asked me to return to TVB, but because I wanted to try different series at the time, it has had to wait until now. I thank Chun Jer for not blacklisting me and offering me a positive role to try as soon as I come back, the greatest thing is that I am stuck in the stereotype of being a bad guy." Having returned to TVB, Patrick hopes to reach another peak in his career. 34-year old Patrick is starting to find success in his career and it is also the time for him to start his family. He has been dating girlfriend Fiona for three years and have decided to get married this Christmas in Las Vegas before heading to Canada to go skiing for their honeymoon. Because the couple like their romance, they will have their ceremony in a church with their best friends and their families to witness this, in a heartwarming but simple ceremony. Patrick thinks of his wedding as a film plot with a sunshiny day but cool enough to be comfortable, him and Fiona sitting in a limousine.... so romantic! Patrick's Piscean character loves romance and is especially inspirational and this helps with his filming. He says: "My girlfriend likes me for my romantic touch and also hates me for being too romantic because sometimes I will start dreaming when I am driving. I care about the big things, but not so much about the little things. Luckily my girlfriend and I both love to eat and have a common hobby in this, no matter eating fish ball noodles or trying a steak at the Peak or Repulse Bay, eating is the ultimate luxury, if you want to eat it, eat it." Patrick has fallen in love with playing golf and because of the venue, as it gives him a feeling of opening spirit in his heart. He learned to play over a year ago and although he has been busy recently with filming and not had time to practice, on the day of the shoot he still had the moves as he loves the sport so much then of course it will be easy to pick up again! He says: "Actually I don't have too much time to practice so I am still a beginner, however as you can play this sport alone and don't have to wait for anyone, it is ideal for people in this industry with unstable timetables. Playing golf is all about the whole stance coming together before you can fully control the ball." Patrick admits he is a 'half-professional' but he has potential as he immediately demonstrates the five steps of playing golf: (1) Focus your thoughts, (2) Find your target, (3) Test your run of actions, (4) Lock your position, (5) Swing with confidence. Seeing the ball travel far and straight, he does not seem like a beginner. If he didn't say you wouldn't know that playing golf involves using many different clubs for starting, long and short distances, hitting from low to high and so on.... there are cheap and expensive clubs and even just kit, there is a big bagful. This sport has become very popular in recent years. source-tvbspacenews.blogspot |

Patrick Tam and Fiona Yuen were filming in Tokwawan yesterday for "Fight for Every Moment" and in the same building, there had been a suicide case involving an old wife and young husband, so there were still a lot of police in the area. In the show, Patrick plays an undercover cop and he says: "I have a lot of location shots in this area because the setting is right for my character and even had a scene where I jumped off a building, but on the day of the incident, I didn't have to film. (Do you find it quite scary?) No, but it is depressing. Not as much as the SARS epidemic and economic downturn last year though, because that sacrificed many lives. (The reports are that the couple were heavy gambler and killed themselves because of their debts.) If it was because of gambling then it wasn't worth it. Many people declare bankrupcy, even Kenny Bee is fine after owing several billion and can find the strength to work even harder." Patrick admits that in the past, he was very focussed on awards, but he has seen past this now and understands that not everyone has a smooth road in life and getting this enlightenment is the most valuable thing. Fiona found out from the reporters about the suicide case in this building and seemed a little shocked. When asked if she was afraid, she says: "If you didn't talk about then I wouldn't be scared... don't be superstitious." http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

Alex Fong, Yoyo Mung, Patrick Tam and Johnson Lee set out yesterday for Thailand to film for "Fight for Every Moment". As well as taking her luggage, Yoyo also took a folding chair and she explains that filming on location means that they have to run around everywhere, so she has brought the chair so that she can rest whenever she can. Earlier, Alex Fong had suggested that if Yoyo had not found a new boyfriend before heading out to Thailand, he would pay for her food and accommodation. To this Yoyo laughs: "You just have to look at him and you know he will go back on his word." Later Patrick arrived at the airport and immediately revealed that a man had driven Yoyo to the airport, as he and Alex both did the hand gestures to suggest she has a personal chauffeur. Alex then said jokingly: "That's good, she has a man, she has found someone! I don't need to pay. Seeing her so dedicated (suggesting her sexy clothes), then I know she will do it, I only came here by taxi today!" As for Yoyo's explanation, she says that this man was not her boyfriend, but just a male friend. This trip will last for a whole month, so Patrick's newly wed wife will most likely go to visit him. When he was asked whether the man who dropped off Yoyo was good looking, he says: "He was wearing a cap, so I couldn't see very well. Their manner was very casual, so the man seemed more like a chauffeur." After finishing filming for "Fight", Patrick will be heading to Hengdian to film for a China Central Television ancient production where he has to fight holding a baby. http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

TVB's joint production with Thailand's Channel 3 "Fight for Every Moment" is currently filming away on location in Thailand. In order to show the importance of this production, TVB bosses Ho Ding Kwan and Yip Yung Yu headed out to Thailand personally for a press conference and Mr Ho joined Channel 3 director Mr Pravit in addressing the guests. Also, on the day when the Hong Kong cast members, including Alex Fong, Yoyo Mung, Patrick Tam, Marco Ngai and Johnson Lee arrived in Thailand, they were met at the airport by their Thai counterparts Sririta Jensen and Chatchai Plangpanit before they joined together to pay respects to the four faced buddha and wish for a smooth shoot. When the producer in Thailand Lo Wing Yin was contacted yesterday, he indicated that they are yet to film any major scenes as they are starting on the more vocal scenes. Alex has already filmed two scenes, one telling of him being pursued by the Thai police and not only did he have to run around all night, he injured his wrists when he was filming a handcuffing scene with an actor police officer and was unable to put his watch on the next day. However, Alex knows it was not done on purpose and has no complaints. As the filming this time is with the total co-operation of the Thai authorities, everything is going very smoothly and filming in Chinatown early, they were able to seal off the whole street to film. Although the local weather is very hot and rainy and the cast have to keep stopping, they are all well prepared. As for Thai actor Chatchai, he offered the local hospitality and has taken the cast and crew to the banks of the river to eat. As he is very well known in Thailand, he has attracted many onlookers and so he took the chance to introduce the Hong Kong stars to the locals. ![]() http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

he used to be the villiant of several series and he was darn good in it. Flaming brothers was one of the best he did. His acting is so natural.
I recently watched Seed of Hope and he is real good in it too. And he can sing! Nice song. Anywayz, he should have joined TVB all this while... would have build his career better there. Oh well, he is aging now. |

[Ta Kung Pao & The Sun 01/10/04]
"War and Beauty" will finish airing on Saturday and the next series to air will be the TVB and Thai joint production "Split Second". The show's cast, including Patrick Tam, Kevin Cheng, Moses Chan, Mandy Cho, Lai Lok Yi and Marco Ngai took part in a war game promotion for the show yesterday where they were split into two games for a paintball match. Eventually Mandy, Kevin and Lok Yi's team lost and had to give up their backs as a target for the winning team to fire at them. Afterwards, Mandy indicated that her legs and thighs were hurting but she dare not turn around for fear of being hit in the face. This is Mandy's first appearance in a series and although she does not have a very big part, she still hopes for good ratings. Kevin and Lok Yi really looked after her whilst filming and this made her very happy indeed as she felt very fortunate. As for the show being aired straight after the highly popular "War", Kevin admits that he feels some pressure, but he will just have to see how the ratings go. He says: "After all the two shows are very different, one is very feminine and the other is more masculine. We all had a very happy time filming and we enjoyed the experience, so we feel we have already won." Talking of there being a lot of gossip in the female shows, but there being no gossip in this 'masculine' show, will this mean they lose out on the promotional stakes? Kevin says: "Men fight more openly! They wouldn't be so jealous or devious because that just looks bad!" Patrick Tam has just finished filming the new Jackie Chan movie "King Tin Juen Kei" (Direct Translation: "Amazing Legend") and he says that Jackie arranged for a fast food trailer on the set for them, just like they do in Hollywood and this opened his eyes because he has never been treated this well. Later, Patrick will be heading back to the mainland to film CCTV production "Yang Nai Wu and Xiao Bai Cai" where he will star opposite Christy Chung in the title roles. It will be at least next year before he returns to film for TVB again. Talking of the recent incident of 'acting becoming reality' [Ref: Dicky Cheung and Nicholas Tse were accused of beating up some Mainland actors off camera.], Patrick indicates that he will would like to see how Dicky is and as for one of the victims Wang Bai Zhao feeling that their apology was insincere and insisting on taking the incident to court, Patrick says: "As a friend, I would urge Dicky to write another notice because there is no point in ruining one's career in the mainland. There are often injuries during filming and as for whether it was intentional or not, then this is hard to tell because as an actor, you do not wish for NG's (retakes), otherwise you will be be even more injured with the extra blows. (Some people feel that Dicky does not respect Mainland actors?) I have worked with Dicky before in 'Duke of Mount Deer 2000' and from what I know of him, he is not that kind of person. He is very friendly to even the actors playing the smallest roles." Also, with his role in "Split Second", Patrick says that he does have hopes for each show that is aired and this time, his hopes are even greater because he has quite a large role. Talking of the audience seemingly preferring the more feminine shows, he laughs: "I believe that the company will have calculated it correctly, after all series have to be varied and I hope that the men will not let us down. (Do you feel pressure from what can be gained?) Of course, I hope it will not be far off the ratings for 'War and Beauty'." http://www.takungpao.com/news/2004-10-1/UL-312443.htm http://www.takungpao.com/news/2004-10-1/UL-312442.htm http://the-sun.com.hk/channels/ent/2004100...03857_0003.html credits to http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

After "War And Beauty", TVB's grand production "Split Second" is scheduled to start airing tognight. The cast members, including Alex Fong, Patrick Tam, Kevin Cheng, Yoyo Mung and Claire Yiu, took part in a promotional game yesterday. They were required to describe their characters in thirty seconds. Whoever failed would have two balloons burst right beside them. Turned out Alex was the big loser, and he could take someone to suffer with him. He picked Yoyo, although she begged him not to. To get back, Yoyo poked fun at Alex and revealed he went out for a massage during shooting. Alex then replied Yoyo went gambling. Alex is confident "Split Second" will do well, and he jokes it's almost like "Richard Gere vs. Johnny Depp". It's well known that Alex is the "Eastern Richard Gere", but who's the "Eastern Johnny Depp"? Alex says it's Patrick and he's a good actor. He adds that Patrick is the kind of actor who only decides how to act a certain scene out at the last minute, but Alex likes it that way. Asked who is the better actor of the two, Alex says older audience might like him more, as he has kids in "Split", and he does everything to protect them. As for "Split" lacking rumors which helped "War" become more popular, Alex jokingly replies he acted like a producer during shooting, and decided to add or cut scenes on his own, so all the other cast members hated him. Although Yoyo is often the victim of Alex's pranks, they are very much in sync one one issue. They both think the popularity of a show has nothing to do with rumors. Yoyo says "War" did have a lot of rumors when it started airing, but as the story progressed, people switched their attention to the plot and the acting, and this goes to show that the most important popularity factor is the quality of the production after all. http://www.takungpao.com/news/2004-10-4/UL-313405.htm credits to http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

![]() (Left - Patrick, Middle - Yoyo Mung, Right - Kevin Cheng) [Ta Kung Pao 10/10/04] "Split Second" is following on from "War and Beauty" and after its first week of airing, it does not seem to be attracting the same volume of viewers as "War" and is being accused of copying plotlines from "Infernal Affairs" and "24" as many scenes look vaguely familiar. At a promotional event held in a shopping mall yesterday, cast members Kevin Cheng, Yoyo Mung and Patrick Tam strongly defended the show, saying any similarities are coincidental and if people are discussing the show, then it proves that they have been watching, so it is a good thing. Kevin says he is not worried about the ratings, after all it has only been airing for a week and it is difficult to compare with "War". As for the allegations that the show is a copycat of "Infernal Affairs" and "24", he feels that maybe the show has some very similar background and storyline, in particular when it comes to characters and the emphasis on time, so this makes it easy for people to compare, but it is in no way a direct copy, merely a show of the same genre. Patrick also indicates that the show is not a copy, but does bear some shadows of the other shows. With the suggestion that this show will not be able to attract the housewife viewers, Patrick feels that to attract male viewers is a good thing because this means that the men can go home earlier. Also, an original soundtrack has been released for the show, but Patrick does not appear on the cover. He explains that this is because the record was released about six months ago and he was still contracted to Chinastar and due to copyright issues, he was not able to appear on the cover of this album and he feels rather helpless and disappointed about it. Yoyo says she has heard some accusations of the show being a copy and feels that this is just people looking for something to talk about, but this is better than the show having no gossip at all. It also proves that the television industry is very great and has many viewers supporting it. Since the show has aired, she has not had many scenes so far, but she indicates that she does play a major part in the series because if it was not then she would not have taken it on. Her scenes have just not emerged as yet. There were some reports yesterday that Charmaine Sheh has three series in the nominations for "My Favourite Female Lead" and a higher chance than anyone else to win the award. Yoyo says that she has never pinned any hopes on winning the award and she is more bothered about the ratings that the show receives. http://www.takungpao.com/news/2004-10-10/UL-315639.htm Credits to Em - http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

He's in many TVB series during 1990's. But he's supporting cast though. He's in gentle reflection (starring Keniw kwok, Irene wan). Also, he's in one case in DIF III and a supporting cast in FOJ 4-5. Also, he's a leading actor in one ancient series with Noel leung (can't remember its name though).
Patrick is really talented actor. Hope TVB will give him more chances and exposure soon. |

QUOTE (nightwaves4 @ Mar 31 2005 10 53 AM) http://www.tamyiuman.com QUOTE (gossip80 @ Nov 10 2004 4 53 AM) yes, i love his voice too! especially the song he sang for flaming brothers! i thought he acted really well in that series, and he changed roles pretty quickly, from being the nice, younger brother, to the evil one who wants to take out his older brother i also love the theme song he sang for seed of hope, he was good in that series too, especially towards the end too bad he doesn't sing the theme song for split second, i would love to hear him sing another one i like his voice too its special and i love his songs in flaming brothers!!! and i miss them!!!! someone should post them up in the music request!!!!!!! i will really appreciate it!!!!! i also like his seed of hope themesong!!! its sooo good but it should be longer then 3 minutes!!!!!!!!!!! yea i love watching him evil!!!!! alot.... i mean totally!!!! he don't suit the good guy roles at all!!!! it makes his character look weird!!!! |

haha.yes.when he acts the good guy he seems to be playing a funny role.as in he seems like the joker of the show...not serious at all.
however. i feel that he is versatile in both evil and good roles.love him all the same:) by the way..think he's got really nice and straight teeth:) |

its like. he always starts out as someone as a bad guy (not a good one), and then he turns out to really be the good guy .. or reveals him as one. Example: the series where he hit this guy and then he must work an x amount of volunteer hours at the children's place.. I find out he's so nice.. aww...and then we have the messed up series, Split Second.. Aww. seriously, undercover cops are sooooooooooooo lovable and hot. I mean, who can resist feeling bad for them.. Being in such a bad position, taking all these risks, not able to reveal true feelins (sometimes), etc...
Now that reminds me of Cheung chi lam in Shades of Truth .. did i MENTION i love chi lam??!! <3 but yeah. Patrick is a greatttttttt actor. Keep it up. You're actually not bad looking |

I love Patrick! He's so cute! The first time I ever saw him was in the series Stage of Turbulence. I felt so sorry for him in that series but he turned evil later. And ever since The movies/series I've seen him in, he was all evil. I'm glad he's back in tvb and he's getting lead roles. He's still really cute. What's he up to nowadays?
Anyone know where I can get his old songs from? This post has been edited by sillyxbaby: Aug 10 2005 11 50 AM |
