Jacky is not born in America, he grew up in Vancouver, Canada. His start in the entertainment business began when he entered a singing contest in Vancouver and got a good score. He got to know some producers over there, and ended up giving up on his academics and returned to Taiwan. I'm thinking his singing is the best because he got his start as a singer first.

His family's in the bicycle business in Taiwan (so very well-to-do). His older brother is also in the company (I'm assuming he meant J-Stars) and is a producer there.

Jacky hasn't had any leading roles yet. He's basically guest starred on the various idol dramas his group-mates are in. The closest he's been to actually participating in a drama was 'Hi-Fly' co-starring Benny Chan. He was a supporting actor.

According to Jacky's biography, I would assume that he's been in Taiwan for quite awhile. At least 4-5 years. Especially since if his parents DO have some kind of store in Taiwan that's doing fairly well, he'll have to have been here for sometime. Some ABCs are quite good at Mandarin to begin with, especially if you speak it all the time at home. For starters, I have Taiwanese friends that always compliment me on my Chinese, and when we first meet, they always assume I'm straight from Taiwan, that I'm not an ABC.

So, he's probably had some pretty good practice with his mando, added onto the fact that he's been in Taiwan for at least 4 years... and well... there ya go!

I would assume Jacky lived in Canada for most of his life-- but since it doesn't look like he went to college, maybe he moved to Taiwan when he was around 18-20ish. As for celebs with bad Chinese, maybe it's Ambrose Hsu, whose Mandarin is the WORST because he's actual a canto star but he's been in a few twdramas. So he has a thick American/Canto accented Mandarin.

Jacky's really good in Mandarin. Ambrose's mandarin was miserable in Lavender. It got marginally better in Dolphin Bay..but not by very much. At least in Dolphin Bay, Ambrose didn't have to resort to using English when he wanted to yell at other people ^^

I don't really keep up with Ambrose, so iono anything about a new drama... '

li wei lian for example.. his mandarin is bad.. i can actually make out that his mando is not so good.. make it harder for a non-mando speaker for me to actually understand whats he's on about.

183 Club Member Jacky Chu yesterday got his car bumped with a
surname Zhen girl riding on a scooter, while on his way to near
SETTV building/ Jungiery star building in Nei Hu district. Both

Yesterday Jacky drove his blue Benz car towards SET Jungiery Star

contact with a girl riding a scooter. Jacky immediately asked his
officemate for help to accompany this girl to San Chun hospital for
emergency assistance. Recently the girl don¡¦t have serious thing,
just some crashes on her leg, the doctor said after an initial check
up the girl went home already. Jacky said: ¡§I am very clear that
this girl did not have two lines right turn, but she insist on me
having cross the road on red signal, my speed was not fast that time
and I have a friend with me to witness that I didn¡¦t crossed on red
signal. The bottom line is this thing was being manage by the police
official, after a month of investigation and wait for the report, if
the result if my fault, then I will be oblige for whatever that is
need¡¨.

Haha Cindy. I hope that Jacky would speak perfect English. He was born and raised in Canada!

I for one, think Jacky is attractive, but his jawline annoys me. I guess being an ABC, I'm really spoiled when it comes to teeth, and a lot of Taiwanese stars irritate me because they don't have perfect teeth. oops. hehe. Anyways, Jacky has an underbite. That is his lower jaw actually protrudes over his upper jaw. He should've had this corrected, but obviously he hasn't had maxillofacial (that is jawline) surgery to correct his underbite. I think that someone should tell him. It's actually very very unhealthy to have an underbite. His teeth are very straight though, but there's only so much you can do without getting actual surgery.

Anyways... I know that his family is rich in Taiwan (they own some kinda motorcycle/bike shop and everyone in Jungiery always teases him about having a lot of money) but iono about before he went to Taiwan. A lot of asian parents don't see it completely necessary to get that kind of surgery done, it's mostly cosmetic, like braces are. I guess if your orthodontist/dentist didn't recommend it, than you wouldn't really consider it. Although for health reasons, I do think that Jacky should get that issue checked out. Something about your jaw not aligning right could completely throw off your teeth and you could have major complications with chewing and eating and talking later in life....
