i think he is feeling anxious. In that Liberty times article my friend translated a few posts back he confessed he didnt want to disappoint his father yet again--that after the drugs conviction his father has not realy forgiven him and thinks he is a major loser!

I actually think it's a good move for his career. He's "established" as a member of 183Club-- not as a solo artist; his vocals often "competed" with those of the other four members. (I personally think Jacky sounds better solo... on Gao Jie... than he does on the 183Club OST's and albums... but maybe that's just me.) Plus, if YouTube is any indication, a significant number of 183Club "fans" don't really know Ehlo, Jacky, or Johnny by name-- only by face-- or with the rest of the group. And let's not forget the sad reality that a lot of people in Taiwan actually really dislike J-Stars and so may have totally passed him by (and that's a huge shame).

if the show which tammiest mentioned 超級星光大道 [Chao Ji Xing Guang Da Dao] [One Million Stars] is the one jacky is invited to, then i would think jacky might feel a little awkward coz i thot that show are for young aspiring singers and they have a panel of judges there to give their comments. i mean, jacky is already a well-known singer, he had delivered good songs and performances, must he start from scratch and be judged again? oh no, this is too harsh, poor jacky . seriously i am not sure whether i am going to encourage jacky to go for it now.

It's not true that One Million Star don't have well known singers... A lot of them even have awards behind them, like I remember this contestant called Alicia or something and she had won contests before. And her singing really was awesome.
It's just that her fanbase wasn't in TW. Cuz the competition was elsewhere I think. And she sortof rose to popularity abit after One Million Star.
The more well-known ones won't go I think because if they lose, it's going to be ultra embarrassing for them and the judges can't even criticise their singing, they'll probably get bashed.

OMS is a good place to restart for Jacky, especially since he's singing's good. (Although OMS is losing popularity slowly)
It's not exactly a starting from scratch thing. And no matter how good a singer is, there can be room for improvement. Which he might discover through OMS.
It's a pretty big honor to be invited I think, cuz they really find great singers to PK their contestants.

If he can win one of the contestants that is viewed as a favorite (Which was the case for Jam Hsiao, he won Aska and Stanley Hsu), they might even invite him back a few times and that will really gain some attention from the audience.

OMS is aired in places like Singapore too so it helps let more people outside TW notice him too.

I just went on tangerine jackys management company and i spotted his name next to a date: 10-20-08. And I clicked on it. There is some information there and the same pic as they had in the Liberty Times article--the one where he is wearing a grey hat and leaning over putting garnishes on a rice dish.
But i dont know if the info is the same as the Lib Times article or something different My friend EW who translates for us sometimes is sick and not at work so I cant ask.

jacky has updated his blogg again and my friend EW had a go at translating it. Here it is, maybe a bit rough:

"I would like to thank everyone fro the suggestions and support Its given me a lot of encouragement. Today I've given feedback to Xing Guang, that is, I accept this challenge, so come on Class 4 [Season 4?], you will see how many I will PK.

but now my biggest worry after I left the stage for one year is I don't really feel calm or familiar with the stage. So this time my performance is the time I most need your support. So all of the strangeness will become familiar when I see you there.

So that's why I truly wish everyone to come to the recording studio to give me encouragement and say, Go! Go! Jacky. So let me see the JK posters that I havent seen for ages. So the recording date will be on Sunday 23/11. You don't need to go to work, you dont need to go to class.

jacky has great vocals and his range is quite wide. i will prefer him to sing ballad instead of fast paced songs though. jacky singing ballads create a very emo feeling. something like listening to aska sing love songs? very "got feelings"

lets just hope that he wins la. it'll seriously be quite embarrassing to lose when u are an established singer. but usually one million stars esp. the one sent for the pk are very powerful...

If we're talking about types of songs, I like him singing all types. He has a strong voice so he can actually take it. (Oh yea, talking about that, it wouldn't be the same if he didn't sing for the main theme of several series!)

a good song to you might be a 'not that great' one to the judges. views are subjective but the judges decision is final. period.

the song yuan liang wo is from jam hsiao's first album. most likely he chose this song because that is the message he wants to put across: for the public to forgive him for his mistakes last time. in that new article he talks about what kind of life he lived in the rehab and how the people that urged him to start anew...jacky, we already "yuan liang" you already, jiayou and good luck!

My friend EW had a look at the article and just as Mandy.sg and mingde said, a lot of it is just like the Liberty Times one, but there are two or three things that are new:

1) When jacky was in rehab he had to force himself to shower and use the loo in front of his cellmate. Luckily the other inmates were mostly economic criminals [white collar] so he didn't feel so much fear

2) One of the older inmates told him well, you fell off the mountain into the bottom of the valley but now it is time to climb back up

3) He is going to do the PK by singing the Xiao Jing Teng (Jam Hsiao) song 'Forgive Me'. He was asked which contestant he was afraid of and he answered Sun Bi Na.


i hope he goes realy well on sunday jia you, jacky!

I agree totly My friend EW who sometimes translates for this thread is from a village about 3 hrs drive from beijing said that rehab must have been very hard for jacky cos he came from a wealthy family and must have always been treated like a prince at home She thought that he had gained some self esteem cos he managed to overcome a dificult obstacle --rehab--on his own

anyway i hope he goes well today (sunday) I went on YouTube and found the Jam Hsaio version of forgive me and it is realy a nice ballad with a low verse and a strong chorus with some high notes
jacky should be able to bring a lot of feeling to it cos i think he is genuinly sorry about his past actions

I just went on Tangerine --I posted the direct link a few posts back--and GUESS WHAT???

There are these two big articles about jacky! One is after the date 11/14 and the other is 11/20. You have to click on the line of characters after each date and the stories and pictures come up. (I am learning chinese and i can recognise his name but not much more)

One of the articles has jk surrounded by all these running shoes and hes wearing these cute shorts The other one has him in jeans and a windcheater (i think in the US people say a sweatshirt) and nerdish but cute glasses and one of his famous beanies and he's recording something! At long last!
im not very technicle so i wondered if someone could go on tangerine and maybe post the images on this thredd?
