H.K rap Options

Hi all !

i can say H.K is the world of the pop, but can i say H.K is the country of the rap ? ... No i think... First there are not rappers in H.K... and dont say Edison is an real rapper ..... Lastly i hear War of in laws themesong it 's very funny lol, but it isnt real rap ... rap is from the street, so why H.K street guyz dont rap ? and become famous like in U.S.A or in France ? I live in France, and the Rap become more and more famous, does H.K is very strict about showbizness ? Does in H.K people dont have the liberty of expression ?

because if you ever listen to Cantonese rap...it sounds like sh*t.
It sounds so horrible you wouldn't even want to listen to it again.
That's why you don't see many people attempting to rap.
Take LMF for example....how many of their songs are good?
And you would listen to it over and ovr and over again without gettin annoyed?
BTW...LMF sucks....all HK rap sucks....it just sounds so horrible.

:/ in my opinion H.K 's rap is not dead ... they have just rap more and perfect the technic, the flow, and difuse more rap clip (US) at tv for the next generation

yeah cantonese rap is just crap.. edison is a joke (im prepared to be flamed by the 98% girls out there) but i gotta say in that song jordan chan sang with that little rap part was pretty good.

I really think its the language... you really cant rap in chinese or at least its hard to. Edison really cant rep at all and i dont think Jeno (who has tried) can either.

b/c rap was born in the US, plus many people identify themselves with rap, thats why rap is famous in the US.. not mentioning all those wanna be rappers promoting it.. HK rap doesnt even talk about the struggles of the ppl from the streets, it talks about love, I mean, that really sucks.. hmm, i think that HK ppl has freedom to express themselves, i dont know what you meant by that... also, who gives a sh*t about the lyrics, nowadays most of the rappers are all about bling bling bling, sex, drugs, etc and etc... i think thats where hk rap is.. just trying to make money, they dont spend some time thinking about the lyric, what the ppl from the streets are going through.. the same happens with korean rap or japanese rap.. i mean, i never seen them talk about the crazy things from the street...

what is that?! I mean, he just used The Game's BEAT (made by Dr. Dre), that aint original man.. u mean, the beat is cool but the lyrics aint.. lack of creativity, anyone can be famous using someone's beat..

ya but it is better than Edison 's lyrics ' sure the beat isnt original, but it dosnt talking about love all the time, thats the good point

noooooo... the beat from this song comes from The Game's "Hate it or Love it", "How we do" has nothing to do with this... nah, the Game wouldnt copy the beat from someone, he's got Dr. Dre, who makes good beats...

For me I'm not a big fan of rap but there are some good people that can rap. In HK...not many people that I've heard can rap. I hate chinese rap. It just doesn't sound like it. Edison can't and about most of the people that try can't. The War of the In Laws theme song wasn't rap. It was just them talking fast.

hey guy, the rap is from the street, and the words is particular vulgar, morever bling bling is the USA, in France, the rap is about drugs, unfair society, street story....So if these are healthy for young people ... i dont know if it's the same rap wich we listen.... i said Edison is not a rapper!!! he's a fake!!!

well one reaons why cantonese rap sounds weird is becasue its really hard to rap in catnonese becasue the words are hard to make ryhme and stuff but i think some hk rap is pretty good i give them props for trying because its really hard to rap with cantonese

I agree that it is really hard to rap in Chinese in general. That's becuase Chinese wasn't really centered around rap. In English, rap uses a lot of slang and terms you aren't going to find in a Dictionary. However, seeing some chinese people just try to act "badass" and gangsta just doesn't fit. It just looks like posing to me. Also, chinese rap is just waaaay boring. Like LMF's song WTF? I mean cmoon, some sophistication please.

generally not a fan of rap or HK rap, but as far as HK rap concerned, it often just doesn't seem to 'flow'. maybe it's hard to rap in cantonese because of the language itself, i dunno, but i'd rather go for mandarin rap if i'd have to choose.

I don't like rap and these exaggerated gangsta image (imho)! And for me seeing chinese people/pop stars copy these gangsta image and trying to rap, it's kind of like a joke I cannot laugh about. It's not their culture. But I think I would accept chinese rap if they develop their own Hiphop style, like German hip hop is different from hip hop in the US...

Yeah i also think that canto rap is sh*t. You can't really rap with cantonese because it doesn't really roll off your tounge. It's pretty hard to rap in canto. Thats what i think.

I think sometimes chinese rappers sound pretty good, not alot of them sound good, but some. Jordan Chan has a rap song that i really like. MP4 also has songs with rap parts that are cool. I only listened to one of Edison's rap songs, and i'll admit that i didn't like it much

but if they do find a way to mix and blend to make it sound good
u kno that will be the next big thing for the HK industry.

no worries sush1a, im prepared to b flamed with u as i 2 think edison is an absoulte joke... the guy cant sing which is bad enough, let alone him tryin to rap in thes couple of years... them rappers in the US came from tough backgrounds and rappin about their hard times whereas pretty boy here grew up with a golden key in his mouth, wots he know!!!

as for jordan, i dnt consider him a rapper but he is a good hip-hop artist if u like to put it dat way.. i mean at least he can dance..

hk rap or canto rap jus doesnt sound right. maybe its because every word pronounced in chinese is a syllable so it just sounds like a lot of woffling when rapping ... ps. listen to edison OMFG! mandarin rap sounds better for sure

i kinda like cantonese rap...some of the songs from mp4, lmf, dj tommy are pretty song...i kinda like the lyric...however, even i like it....if i listen 2 it all the time....i will get sick of it...i hope there r better hk rap....

hk rap now is dominated by CLOT which is ran by edison, mc yan, chef. chef is crzy, yan is real nice n edison got sum aite raps, well i think edison is a way better rapper than singer. hk also has this one rapper kwokkin whose pretty nice, hes got a cd out with another rap group
