[News]
TVB will be holding another Olympic special on Sunday and memebers of the six 'Olympic Stars' (Ron Ng, Bosco Wong, Lai Lok Yi, Sammul Chan, Raymond Lam and Kenneth Ma) were supposed to be rehearsing yesterday. As well as passing over the Olympic flame, they will also be appearing in a short musical performance entitled "The Birth of a Gold Medal". As they each have their own busy schedules and Kenneth is still filming in Guangxi for "Wandering Hero Medics" unable to return for rehearsals, then only Bosco and Lok Yi could be seen rehearsing the dances for the musical. Whilst Bosco and Lok Yi were rehearsing, Sammul and Ron also popped in on a break from their other filming work to make the most of their time to practice. As there is a certain level of difficulty in a song and dance routine, Bosco says that he is not finding it easy, but with Ron being from a dancer background, then he should be able to lead them all. As for Lok Yi, he admits he is very nervous about he company giving him such an important role and he is particularly worried about the passing of the torch, in case it goes wrong. Bosco says: "We all have a part to play in passing the flame and the last person will be Raymond. We don't know if we will be lighting the flame together or just Raymond on his own, but we will remember that we are holding the sacred flame torch and will not let everyone down." http://orientaldaily.com.hk/ent/ent_a14cnt.html http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

Ron Ng and Lai Lok Yi were among the Olympic Stars that took part in a friendly bout against Bosco Wong and Amy Kwok's 'To Love With No Regrets Team' as they battled in table tennis, rowing machine relay and penalty shootout. Talking of TVB's forthcoming Water Games, Ron Ng revealed that he cannot swim: "In the past I have learned, but I am not stylish enough when I swim, so I would rather not do it." However, he will take part in the 100m sprint. Also, Amy Kwok's show "To Love With No Regrets" has had some very good ratings in the first week and she has been dubbed as TVB's lucky star. To this, she says: "At first I was quite worried and it is great luck that the show has done so well." http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

QUOTE (*Yangirl* @ Jun 2 2004 5 06 AM) i saw somewhere name him Lai Lok , so what's wrong ?????? his name is lai lok yi but people on the net use chris lai because it's easier to remember. last name Lai so his first name is lok yi but some consider yi as middle name. take middle name out you get lai lok yay. i heard somewhere that he likes to be called lok yi so lok yi it is. in njapf he played an office worker talking to the receptionist when roger walked by. roger thought lok yi was talking behind his back when in reality he was talking about someone leaving a banana peel on the floor. for the w files i think he played a waiter or was it fate twister? not sure. survivor's law he was one of the juror in one of the cases. hmm he was in perish in the name of love? i gotta watch this serie again i might have miss him. the list is missing aqua heroes he was in there too. lok yi is everywhere!!! His role in Dreams of Colors and Hearts of Fencing was so funny! I think he should play more funny characters, instead of something like his part in "TCTU." But he's still a good actor

[Ta Kung Pao & The Sun 01/10/04]
"War and Beauty" will finish airing on Saturday and the next series to air will be the TVB and Thai joint production "Split Second". The show's cast, including Patrick Tam, Kevin Cheng, Moses Chan, Mandy Cho, Lai Lok Yi and Marco Ngai took part in a war game promotion for the show yesterday where they were split into two games for a paintball match. Eventually Mandy, Kevin and Lok Yi's team lost and had to give up their backs as a target for the winning team to fire at them. Afterwards, Mandy indicated that her legs and thighs were hurting but she dare not turn around for fear of being hit in the face. This is Mandy's first appearance in a series and although she does not have a very big part, she still hopes for good ratings. Kevin and Lok Yi really looked after her whilst filming and this made her very happy indeed as she felt very fortunate. As for the show being aired straight after the highly popular "War", Kevin admits that he feels some pressure, but he will just have to see how the ratings go. He says: "After all the two shows are very different, one is very feminine and the other is more masculine. We all had a very happy time filming and we enjoyed the experience, so we feel we have already won." Talking of there being a lot of gossip in the female shows, but there being no gossip in this 'masculine' show, will this mean they lose out on the promotional stakes? Kevin says: "Men fight more openly! They wouldn't be so jealous or devious because that just looks bad!" Patrick Tam has just finished filming the new Jackie Chan movie "King Tin Juen Kei" (Direct Translation: "Amazing Legend") and he says that Jackie arranged for a fast food trailer on the set for them, just like they do in Hollywood and this opened his eyes because he has never been treated this well. Later, Patrick will be heading back to the mainland to film CCTV production "Yang Nai Wu and Xiao Bai Cai" where he will star opposite Christy Chung in the title roles. It will be at least next year before he returns to film for TVB again. Talking of the recent incident of 'acting becoming reality' [Ref: Dicky Cheung and Nicholas Tse were accused of beating up some Mainland actors off camera.], Patrick indicates that he will would like to see how Dicky is and as for one of the victims Wang Bai Zhao feeling that their apology was insincere and insisting on taking the incident to court, Patrick says: "As a friend, I would urge Dicky to write another notice because there is no point in ruining one's career in the mainland. There are often injuries during filming and as for whether it was intentional or not, then this is hard to tell because as an actor, you do not wish for NG's (retakes), otherwise you will be be even more injured with the extra blows. (Some people feel that Dicky does not respect Mainland actors?) I have worked with Dicky before in 'Duke of Mount Deer 2000' and from what I know of him, he is not that kind of person. He is very friendly to even the actors playing the smallest roles." Also, with his role in "Split Second", Patrick says that he does have hopes for each show that is aired and this time, his hopes are even greater because he has quite a large role. Talking of the audience seemingly preferring the more feminine shows, he laughs: "I believe that the company will have calculated it correctly, after all series have to be varied and I hope that the men will not let us down. (Do you feel pressure from what can be gained?) Of course, I hope it will not be far off the ratings for 'War and Beauty'." http://www.takungpao.com/news/2004-10-1/UL-312443.htm http://www.takungpao.com/news/2004-10-1/UL-312442.htm http://the-sun.com.hk/channels/ent/2004100...03857_0003.html credits to http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

[Oriental Daily 20/10/04]
After TVB's "Six Olympic Stars", the company will be promoting another six male and six female young artistes and these have now been confirmed as "Jade's New Soldiers" with the final shortlist to include Lai Lok Yi, Jack Wu, Chui Kin Pong, Charles Szeto, Lau Ka Chung, Vin Choi, Vivien Yeo, Fu Sze Sze, Cecilia Yeung, Winnie Shum, Linda Chung and Kwan Yi Tung. As well as becoming promotional ambassadors for TVB events, they will also become the target of promotion and focus by TVB and so there was little wonder at the level of competition to be on the shortlist. TVB has been actively screen testing the potential of the newcomers and after discussion by the executives, this list was drawn up before General Manager Chan Chi Wan met with each of them. From the list of names, Miss Hong Kong winner Kate Tsui and first runner up Queenie Chu are not present, but second runner up Fu Sze Sze is on the list alongside fellow Miss Hong Kong contestants Cecilia Yeung and Winnie Shum. As for Lai Lok Yi who was a member of the 'Six Olympic Stars' as well, it was felt that out of the six stars in the last promotion, only Lok Yi was left behind, so TVB are going to give him another push in the hope of making him a leading star. The list of names has been confirmed by Mr Chan and he emphasises that TVB will continue to work on its legacy of producing newcomers for the industry, so for those who have not been selected this time, they should not become disheartened. He also admits that he has met with each of the twelve young stars and he is very pleased with them all. TVB will be arranging for them to receive dancing, singing and kung fu training in the hope that they will become all round artistes and outstanding new leading stars. http://orientaldaily.com.hk/ent/ent_a06cnt.html Credits to http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com |

![]() [The Sun & Oriental Daily 07/11/04] ***WARNING: SPOILERS FOR "SPLIT SECOND"*** TVB series "Split Second" has stirred up much criticism since it has been aired. Reader Ms Lo complains that the storyline is illogical and the suggestion that the Chief of Police played by Ko Hung received bribes is detrimental to the image of the police force. Miss Lo goes on to point out that as the ICAC was established in 1974, there was a pardon issued for all the police officers at the time who received bribes, so if Ko Hung's character received bribes in 1973, then there is no reason for this to be held against him. As for a Criminal Intelligence Bureau Senior Inspector (played by Kevin Cheng) to interview and investigate a Chief of Police, then this is the wrong procedure. The show's producer Lo Wing Yin responds saying: "Ms Lo seems to know the storyline so well, so she must be a super fan of the show. However she needs to be more patient and watch the rest of the show to find out that Ko Hung has been set up and it will not affect the image of the police force. When we filmed the show, we did all our research beforehand and if there are any more doubts, we will investigate this further and respond to the viewers comments." http://the-sun.com.hk/channels/ent/2004110...32013_0003.html http://orientaldaily.com.hk/ent/ent_a13cnt.html Credits to Em - http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

OMG!! I just finished watching HOF and I think Lai Lok Yi and Race Wong make a super cute couple!!! He is sooo funny in HOF!! I loved him in there!! Too bad it was such a short series...
I first saw him in AH and though he was funny and the most memorable scene is when he jumped into the pool and doggie paddle... it was sooo funny. Cracks me up every time I watch that part! Can't wait to see him in Ten Brothers. Heard he's paired up with Leila Tong...I'd like to see them together. |

Well I first saw him in Dreams of Colours. I think who you co-star against is really important because he was good in DoC but I never noticed him too much because I really hate Rain Li! She dragged him down, so yea even though he was good I never really took note of him in there.
However, I am officially a Lai Lok Yi fan now after seeing Hearts of Fencing. I love him in there, he is so funny!!! Love him with Race. Race is actually not bad. Her accent was annoying at first but once u get use to it it's okay! Though I didn't like him in TCTU. His character was pretty boring in there, not funny at all. This guy has the potential to be the next Bobby, only cuter that is!!! Can't wait to see him in Ten Brothers, Leila should be a good co-star for him! I heard his little brother in Hearts of Fencing will like Leila too in Ten Brothers. So this will be the second time where the two brothers fall for the same girl but the girl likes Lok Yi???? |

LOK YI WILL BE FILMING FOR A NEW SERIES CALLED 'ALWAYS ON STANDBY'
[The Sun & Oriental Daily 11/01/05] Bowie Lam, Shirley Yeung and Gregory Lee donned their flying services uniform costumes in a costume tryout for TVB's new series "Always on Standby" and Bowie's uniform had a zip in the groin area and he laughed: "Don't be curious, I have asked about it and it is for ease of going to the toilet." As for playing the helicopter pilot instructor in the show, he says: "I'll leave the mountain climbing and sea diving for Ekin to do, but the worst thing is all the English lines when it comes to filming helicopter scenes. I will have to just do what I do in 'Healing Hands' and try to memorise it all." After working opposite real-life boyfriend Gregory in "Blade Heart", they will be partnering each other again in the new show. When asked if they would get married in this show, she replied at first saying: "I don't know yet." but later she clarified saying: "I don't know what we will be doing in the show, but in real life I have not thought about it because it is still too soon." Even though she will be working opposite rumoured enemy Charmaine Sheh in the new show, Shirley says: "I don't know if we are in the same storyline, but I am not worried anyway and don't want to talk about it again." Gregory responded to Shirley's earlier fortune reading for the year of the rooster and being asked whether he would propose to her by laughing: "No, I am too young and want to do some work first. I am not worried about her having romance because it can also mean popularity and she is always liked by many. It is all about her really, I have faith in her and she is very dedicated, especially to her dogs!" Shirley had to have her dyed hair sprayed black again to give a better image: "I have to look professional, so I plan to dye my hair black again." She will be having romances in the story with Lai Lok Yi and Bowie, but not with Gregory. http://orientaldaily.com.hk/ent/ent_a67cnt.html http://the-sun.com.hk/channels/ent/2005011...32650_0003.html Credits to Em - http://tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

![]() [Ta Kung Pao, Oriental Daily & The Sun 18/01/05] With the Lunar New Year fast approaching, TVB sent out its New Year cards yesterday, continuing the tradition of featuring 36 of the company's salaried artistes on the front of the fold out design. This year, they were split into five groups, each consisting of some already popular stars and some who are currently being promoted. Although they were in groups, within each group, they were carefully placed into positions that reflected their rankings within the company. Roger Kwok and Jessica Hsuan sit comfortably in the middle of their group, indicating their No 1 status for male and female leads, whilst Raymond Lam, Kevin Cheng, Moses Chan and Ron Ng are in the middle of their respective groups, indicating their importance. As for the female artistes, Charmaine Sheh appeared in the sexiest outfit of a tube-top, but not to be outdone, Anne Heung, Gigi Lai, Myolie Wu and Michelle Ye all appear in strappy tops, with Gigi positioned beside Moses Chan despite just recently signing with the company. On either side of Ron are Bernice Liu and Mandy Cho and other stars making an appearance include Sonija Kwok, Tavia Yeung and Melissa Ng. Credit to Em at http://tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |
