Jerry Yan, Presents Dieting when Acting in The Hospital
What's the level of perfectionism of Jerry Yan ? When he was fliming The Hospital, he did not eat for a straight row of 2-3 days and only drank plain water. Firstly, he was afraid that his mouth would be oily and would look ugly on screens. Secondly, he was afraid of mouth odour which would make it embarrassing for kissing scenes and he prefers fried food. The ending for not eating, his gastrics turned bad. The beautiful hunk had acne on his face and the doctor diagonised it as too much stress and pressure.

Jerry Yan was fliming The Hospital in a rush, running around the few places. However, it's still behind in time and might only be able to complete fliming in Jan next year. (...has extended till February now)

However, he still has many commercials to flim, both new ones and those in which he renewed his contract. Especially those with seasonal clothing. The above commercials are his solo acts, all manufacturers stated they only wanted F1, Jerry Yan.

How about the plans for a reunting album, has it been destroyed ? F4's manager, Zhi Xiang Li from Fu Long Management Co expressed, Zaizai's Silence have already completed fliming. They are now waiting for Jerry who is fliming The Hospital. However, Jerry has obviously denied regarding that they're only waiting for him. He said in a low profiled way, "Hopefully, after the other 3 have grown on their own and the day we get back together, i wish for that day." The management team said they have not recieved any plans from Fu Long and the record company have yet to talk about the contract. "Jerry's character is that he will not say no but he will voice his opinions. However, he is always said as being the hardest one. In fact, his last album took him 3 years. Even if it is a album together, he will want it to be done well, it's impossible to be released in March next year."

Because he feels he is loved by many, thus , he is careful when he steps each step. Even when Jerry is fliming a drama, he doesn't treat himself like a human being. Other than not enough rest, and memorising scripts. When his assistant went for leave, he only drank water. In the end, his face broke out in acne and looked tired. In the show, he acts as a doctor, but outside the show, he has to be seen by a doctor and he sees the doctor where he was fliming.

Last week, White Tower had a scene where Saya was really ill. On the patient's bed lay Saya who was very sick while her doctor, Jerry Yan, crying so much. The scene was so touching that everyone including the Director, lights people, cameraman and everyone was sniffing their noses. The were 3 illness scenes, when the scene ended, Director Cai Yue Xuan had all praises for Jerry and Saya. He was very satisfied with their acting.

The crew revealed, Jerry have always been treating Saya as his patient. Although there was no love in the show, their intimate level didn't lose to lovers. Saya said the way Jerry treated her, whether is it out or in the show was just as gentle and careful. There was once when Saya needed the toilet urgently, the moment the Director shouted CUT, she wanted to get down the bed immediately. Jerry quickly helped her to get the tubes off her and helped her down, his actions was really gentle. Saya stood for awhile, couldn't help it and told him, "I'm really not ill, you don't have to treat me like a patient!"

When she return to the fliming scene, she heard news of Jerry setting up his own company, she laughed and said, "I don't care if he is boss, i only know he is my doctor!"

Before this, Jerry acting was seem more on an idol drama or puppy love story such as the popular Meteor Garden, Metoer Rain and Spicy Teacher etc. So now on, especially after leaving Comic/Fu Long management, Jerry's career as a professional actor is just starting to take off, his popularity & fame in the future will even be greater than now or compared to 2001.

His current agent is his personal friend & also one who knows what Jerry's wants & able to fully focus on helping Jerry towards the goals he wants, which is to be recognised as a professional actor & singer. With this step. Jerry is slowly working his way to producing quality works whether in singing & acting.

Jerry has started the 1st step with tv serial White Tower/The Hospital which is already making a name for its quality. Most of the White Tower cast include top,profesional and awardee actors and actress such as Leon Dai the Golden awardee movie king and Golden Bell awardee movie queen SAYA as well as a power cast of senior stars Wu Meng Da and others..

As Jerry gets along very well with Mr Lin, the boss of Media Asia ( a HK movie company), chances are good that he will get some good offers.

For the singing part, Jerry shld still have another 1 or 2 solo album under SonyBmg & as Jerry's 1st solo album did very well, sold over 100,000 copies in Tw as well bring him 2 most outstanding awards that is "The most popular Newcomer Award "(Hongkong/Taiwan Region) and "The most popular song"(Hongkong /Taiwan Region) at Chinese Music Award. Thus,Jerry will be able to negotiate for greater freedom & flexibility in setting the quality std & choosing his own songs for his next coming solo albums.

When we looked at the script, the Director and me of course, both thought that the leading character Dr. Su Yi Hua is none other than Jerry, and Qui Cheng Ze is Dai Li Ren but we realized that taking them would be difficult. Jerry Yan was very busy, Dai Li Ren is also a director with many projects in line, script contents, time adjustents and so on. We spent nearly a year negotiating. But we remained persistent all along, and believed that these two should be the leads. We waited for a very long time they said OK and accepted, resolving such earlier pressures.

Talking about Jerry, aside from being young, he is the type which no other artist hasnt , producing multitude of special qualities. In fact, he has the right talent. When Director Cai asked him to act sentimentally and produce special subtle changes in emotions and expressions, he certainly acted it out exactly the way the director wanted him to project. In these scenes, he comes out on his own as an actor with the greatest efforts.

Before shooting this scene, I always thought that Jerry will leave me. In fact, in working together afterwards, I really didnt know what to feel. In the set, he always talked to everyone, made jokes, and has a very special side. As an actor, he handle his emotions well to show very rich projections, receiving and letting out every kind of emotions. His astonishing concentration led me the need to learn, and study eventhough I have many rivals in the drama, but according to the scenes, when I was on my own, he still wanted to support me, considering the presence of my rivals.

From Saya

She and Jerry filmed very long scenes, and with their ages so close, thus, working together is very easy. For his own performance, he had very high expectations, Even if the director says OK, he would still ask for another take, and definitely not compromising.


Jason was born in England and came to Taiwan not too long ago. His Chinese is not good as he played the role of an intern named Hao Xiao Gang in The Hospital.

He said:

Actually, he and Jerry has good relationship even in private. they played basketball together, and this is the first time they appeared together in the same scene in the drama. When he felt upset because his own Chiinese speaking is not very well, Jerry said "if you will just understand your own role, then you would know how to act it." and that Jerry encouraged him so much. When Jerry's role as Su Yi Hua became alone, he was isolated in the hospital, without any help. I also didnt help him but in my heart , I was in pain for not helping him. I always thought of how could I help him. This is in the drama (laughs)

Before the start of filming, the first to be confirmed was Dai Li Ren, who was also part of the drama "God Mars", because at that time, it was already confirmed that this drama "The Hospital" will be filmed. Yesterday night, Cai Yue Xun (back row, 2nd from left) led "The Hospital" cast for wine drink for the end work, the only cast not present was male lead Jerry Yan.

"The Hospital" filming which took about 9 months to shoot finally ends in a wine drinking party but male lead Jerry Yan was absent because he will go to Japan. However, earlier night, Jerry dished out from his own pocket and went on a spicy pot restaurant to celebrate in advance. At the scene with Director Cai Yue Xun was touching as they cried on each other's shoulders, and emotionally spoke, "Together Shooting for 265 days!"

Cai Yue Xun's slow work comes out with fine workmanship. The Hospital is of course no exception, with preparations that took six months before, and with the actual shooting that took 9 months. All 25 episodes spent NT$80 Million in production costs which is rather unusual for the Taiwan TV circle. At first, The Hospital was scheduled to finish right after the Chinese New Year. But the Director wanted good cuts, and because looking for locations delayed it again for half month, exceeding the expenses further to about TWO MILLION. The other day, shooting was completed and yesterday night at the don't Hua south road's "Ji Yuan" restaurant, the casts and crew held their farewell party, with male lead Jerry Yan as the only missing cast.

Advance Celebration Party
Because he was already scheduled to go to Japan, Jerry was unable to join the farewell party. Earlier night after the shooting ended, Jerry invited the crew for some spicy pot eat-out to celebrate their end work. Husband and wife Cai Yue Xun and Yu Xiao Hui , with Janine Zhang, Leon Dai, Yang Jin Hua and Tang Zhi Peng, were happily all present. Jerry's happy smile started with many delicious Bing Luan Pen and when finally hugging with the Director, both men cried. Scene was emotional and chaotic again. He can only think of the 265-days shooting, in which these are among his drop points and self-maturity. When he escorted and about to part with Cai Yue Xun at the street, he couldn't help but to shed tears.

While Cai Yue Xun was drinking , he started to get drunk and urged everybody to rise up, looked at Tang Zhi Ping and spoke, " Your energy is usually very lax," and teased with the crew as they laughed, and unexpectedly vomited the crew. No protection for the cold, he only thought to take off his pants, but luckily, there was a lady who fixed it and only then he tried to escape from the plunder. It was already early in the morning when they decided to end the day.

The WT team is very smart and they thought of the problem ahead of time, that's why they have released the WT trailer with different versions, the version for Mainland China and the version for TW. In the version for TW, "The President" is used, but in the version for Mainland China, "The Highest Official" is used. There is no problem from Mainland China and the officials are happy with the term "The Highest Official." Now the controversy started on a public forum (PTT) in TW. What happened was that some "general audiences" from TW read the storyline for Mainland China in The Hospital's official site in which "The Highest Official" was used, so a small group criticized the WT team of not using the term "The President" in order to please the Mainland China. Well, the WT PR team responded to it immediately. They will re-set "The Hospital's" official site to have both simplified and traditional versions for audiences from both places. Like WT's staff indicates, they have been careful about this and during filming, whenever the term "The President" was used, they always filmed a second version with the term "The Highest Official", which most dramas won't consider this much. Most importantly, this drama is not about politics, and it is about what happens in the hospital.

After some fans who have read the related thread on PTT, they commented that someone intentionally raised this topic. That's good. As long as people are talking, more people will get curious about WT, that's good promotion. Thanks to those people!

But Jerry's assistant said not to worry, because the critical part of his sickness has passed, and he's recovering well, and dress rehearsals are going as planned. Until this month, when "Great White Tower" is wrapping up, did he go see the doctor. The doctor recommended that he stopped speaking. anyway, jerry finished filming this series like 2 weeks ago after a demanding 9 months of filming..
he's acting w/ Golden awardee movie king Leon Dai and Golden Bell awardee movie queen SAYA. Also, a power cast of senior stars Wu Meng Da.. (remember him? from Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle 1, and upcoming Kung Fu Hustle 2)

White Tower is highly anticipated already in TW and other countries as its fliming rights have been already bought even before it finished filming..(talk about jerry yan's series, of course it would be...i have seen its teaser already here in the Philippines)

jerry is such a good actor here..he really worked hard for this, he devoted much time, energy, and placed himself under tremndous pressure..

A quality series..the trailer itself looks like a movie preview!!
i'm sure it's going to be different from other TW dramas we've seen so far..
oh, i can' t wait to see this..

Before shooting this scene, I always thought that Jerry will leave me. In fact, after working together , I really didnt know what to feel. In the set, he always talked to everyone, made jokes, and has a very special side. As an actor, he handle his emotions well to show very rich projections, receiving and letting out every kind of emotions. His impressive concentration led me the need to learn, and study eventhough I have many rivals in the drama, but according to the scenes, when I was left on my own, he still wanted to support me, considering the presence of my rivals.

Jerry Yan took to reveal that he and Yang Jin Hua remain purely as friends.

Jerry Yan and Yang Jin Hua are both former models, and both had known each other before. Recently, because both of them are acting for "The Hospital" TV drama, they met again. In one of his earlier TV interviews, Jerry was asked if he has feelings for a woman and Yang Jin Hua said that she also has feelings for Jerry, but later she laughed and said that she was just joking. She said that although this was the first time she worked with Jerry in a TV drama, both of them knew each other from their modelling days. " I was with him but was not attracted. The Hospital will be aired in August

In the new drama "The Hospital," Yang Jin Hua's role is a V reporter, in a special investigation at some of the hospitals' secret dealings. well...i watched d trailer & i can said jerry is d most serious actors among F4, leaving his idol drama actor stereotype
tis is a serious & good quality series, with many talented & professional actors!!! it is also a good start for taiwan to prove that it can also produce good quality series as well, unlike those idol dramas although can attract many youngsters to watch, but of a low quality & d storyline quite senseless & not meaningful rite!!!

Jerry spirit of moving up is very strong, always wanting himself to do better and is working hard to throw away the idol title.

I am much more happier & optimistic abt Jerry's future career now that he has left Comic/Fu Long. His current agent is a personal friend & also one who knows what Jerry's wants & able to fully focus on helping Jerry towards the goals he wants, which is to be recognised as a professional actor & singer.

With this step, Jerry is slowly working his way to producing quality works whether in singing & acting. Jerry has started the 1st step with tv serial White Tower/The Hospital which is already making a name for its quality.

I hope next Jerry will get good movie roles & get to work with famous HK or China director. I think getting movie roles shouldnt be a problem for Jerry as he is much in demand but the question is whether he finds the role or script good enough. As Jerry gets along very well with Mr Lin, the boss of Media Asia ( a HK movie company), chances are good that he will get some good offers.

For the singing part, Jerry shld still have another 1 or 2 solo album under SonyBmg & as Jerry's 1st solo album did very well, sold over 100,000 copies in Tw, Jerry will be able to negotiate for greater freedom & flexibility in setting the quality std & choosing his own songs for his solo albums.

White Tower soundtrack to be released by H.I.M International Music

With Jerry Yan being one of the male leads in the drama, SONYBMG was once interested in releasing the soundtrack. Ao Jun Yi, producer of the drama explained that SONYBMG worked with Directer Cai for MARS soundtrack, however there are SONYBMG has too many upcoming projects. Director Cai hopes to find a dedicated team to concentrate on the soundtrack, and able to coordinate with him making amendments anytime. Director Cai admires Ah Sang's vocals, the soundtracks that HIM have released are well done, therefore they have asked HIM to produce the soundtrack.
