Sheren Tang & Leila Tong to Star in "Desperated Housewives"

Earlier TVB had gained good ratings for its broadcast of American TV show, "Desperate Housewives." TVB has decided to film its own version of "Desperate Housewives," starring Sheren Tang Tsui Man, Leila Tong Ning, Kiki Sheung Tin Ngor, and Cecilia Yip Tung.

The new series will be called "Housewife Reinforcement" 《師奶救兵》. As Sheren, Cecilia, and Kiki are all talented actresses, aside from competition in acting, there might be friction among the 3 of them as well once filming starts.

Sheren said, "We all admire each other's acting talents. It is a rare chance that everyone gets to work together, so there will not be any hostilities. Maybe in the series, we will challenge each other's acting skills, but outside of the series, there is no need for competition."

Producer Lam Chi Wah said that the new series will start filming in June. The plot will focus on 4 housewives in Hong Kong. "Sheren will be wearing very little makeup in the show. Cecilia Yip will play a wealthy housewife who has fallen on hard financial times. Also John Chiang Dai Wai will turn from being an arrogant man to a humble man. This series will be quite amusing."

Lam said that they have not settled on the male lead actor yet. But he joked about the 4 female leads, "In the original American version, the housewives are all very beautiful. But since we are making a Hong Kong version, we will play down on the housewives' looks, making it more identifiable with real Hong Kong housewives."

Sheren Tang Shui Man will be filming new series "Housewife Reinforcement" (based on the popular American show "Desperate Housewives" in June.

Sheren might be gaining additional weight for the role to appear as a "chubby housewife."

"I don't mind gaining weight for the role. I will be collaborating with Cecilia Yip Tung, Kiki Sheung Tin Gor so I am very happy!"

There have been rumors that Sheren has broken up with food corporation tycoon, Fan Jin Pang. Sheren said, "We actually never dated. He is only my boss because of [advertisement] work."

Yesterday Sheren appeared with Stephen Au Kam Tong and Poon Fong Fong for radio program "Below Lion Mountain." The radio program is based on the classic TV series of yester year. Sheren said the title is a classic as it represents the Hong Kong people and she grew up watching it, therefore it was very meaningful.

Sheren has been busy lately appearing in a theater production with Chung King Fai. As a result, she could not attend the promotional events for "War and Beauty," which has been broadcast in China recently.

During the promotional events, producer Chik Kei Yi said that Gigi Lai Chi was brainless, but Sheren only smiled and said, "Chik Kei Yi always cast Gigi in his series, therefore she is really one of his beloved actresses!"

I heard that Michael Tse is going to play Sheren's husband this time in Housewife Reinforcement. Anyway, this series look interesting. And since filming is starting in June there should be news about it soon

I think Leila really is establishing herself to be a renowned actress due to the fact that she gets multi-facted, different characters to play. That's great for her. I'm really excited to see how this series plays out though, because so far, I love Desperate Housewives, and I really wonder how much this series will be like it.

- Leila's character has a friend who suicided because of many exaggerated rumours about her marriage, made up by other housewives

- Leila's character joins in with the housewives just to find a chance to take revenge

- Leila's character has an affair with Kenneth Ma's character, who already has a wife. The whole affair is her revenge plan

it is indeed a comedy, maybe there's just some dark sides in it ^^
yenly: this series has not yet released in HK or Viet. TVB's going to air this series in May. So I think there'll be a Viet version around July or August
