HISTORY
G.o.d. is a group debuted with the song “To My Mother” also known as the so-called “The Jajangmyeon Song.” Singer Park Jin-young was the producer for the group in which 5 members, Park Joon-hyung, Ahn Danny, Yoon Gye-sang, Sohn Ho-young and Kim Tae-woo performed great musical and dance talents. Since their debut in 1999, the boy-band has been loved by fans in all age groups from teens to the middle-aged. Leader Park Joo-hyung is a rapper with a deep and low voice. Yoon Gye-sang is a high-tone rapper with a good sense of humor. Ahn Danny is Park Joon-hyung’s cousin who performs medium rap in the group. Sohn Ho-young is the vocalist for the band who is loved for his soft smile and voice. The leading vocalist Kim Tae-woo boasts great singing talent. Their musical style ranges from hip-hop, disco, latin, punk and R&B to pop ballads. Since their debut, the band has been enjoying steady popularity for its diversity in musical style. In 2002, g.o.d. participated in MTV Asia Music Awards as the Korean representative. In April of the same year, the band also participated in the official album for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan, “True East Side.” From July that year, the band embarked on a long journey of a 100-day concert. The series of concert ended in March of 2003. In December of 2004, Yoon Gye-sang left the group temporarily to do his military service. As of January 2005, g.o.d. is actively appearing on air performing songs in their 6th album, “An Ordinary Day.”

Danny worked on Music Camp as an MC with Ock Ju Hyun. He also did his radio show "Kiss the Radio". When he left Musci Camp, Bi took over his place.

Kyesang worked on his acting career. He was on a couple of dramas including "Sister in Law is 19" and "Ban Jun".

Joon lost his grandmother during their time off.

Taewoo focused on his health and lost some weight.

Taewoo, Joon and Hoi spent time in the USA, to rest and later to record chapter 6. Danny's parts of the recording were added in Korea. Hoi trained under voice coach Jodeci for extra help with his vocals for chapter 6.

The god members faced some major challenges during their time away. First there were very unpleasant contract negotiations with their management company. For the past few albums, god had been managed by Sidus, though Taewoo was signed under JYP Entertainment (JYP a.k.a. Park Joon Young writes and produces much of god's albums, and he is a good friend of Joon's). As their contract expiry approached, Sidus stopped promoting god and they fell out of the limelight (chapter 5). Joon and Hoi decided to jump ship and join Taewoo under JYP Entertainment. Danny and Kyesang resigned under Sidus. Because that contract problem was drawn out, god was forced to stay in the background for a while.

The second major challenge the members faced was the departure of Kyesang. His departure seemed quite abrupt and unexpected. But the remaining god members put on a brave face and persevered, pledging their support to Kyesang. In a statement released by the group, they said "When a member leaves a group, it can feel as if there is a huge empty space, but the remaining members are working twice as hard to make up for the difference."

These challenges also consumed a lot of god's "time off" between the 100 day concert and the release of chapter 6.

But its great to see them back, they are moving forward and leaving their difficulties behind them. While they are not the same without Kyesang, the heart of god is still there so they are still my favorite Korean group.

together for joon to projects programs- like brothers, they fill the hearts of
the people… and than- I totally don’t understand but it’s a bunch of good
things about god…

G.O.D: Grave Over Danger?



The road ahead for the "People's Group" G.O.D took a dark turn when group member Yoon Kye Sang told the media on July 21 that he didn't know anything about a 6th album coming out in November as recently announced by fellow member Danny Ahn. The latter had publicly projected that the next GOD album would be coming out this November after recording in the fall on his radio show "Danny Ahn's Kiss Radio" in early July. But Kye Sang who opened a media conference at a Seoul restaurant to talk about the new TV drama he was going to star in shocked fans by stating, "I don't know anything about an album coming out in November. I'm also not keeping in touch with the other GOD members." And asked about the new direction in his career he said, "I don't know. Acting has always been my dream." Yoon Kye Sang will star in the SBS drama "Nine Hyung Soo Nim" which premiers on July 28. He also insisted that there was no decision on a possible breakup as rumored since last year.

The situation with GOD is a complicated one as Kim Tae Woo, Park Joon Hyung and Son Ho Young belong to Park Jin Young's JYP Group while Yoon Kye Sang and Danny Ahn are officially signed under Sidus Entertainment. Both companies had announced in May that the 6th GOD album would be coming out in September and that after that the members would decide their futures. Rumors however have already been spreading about disharmony within the group as Yoon Kye Sang was the only member who wasn't present in GOD's meeting with Usher back in April and a GOD appearance on Danny Ahn's radio show in May. In fact as time passes without signs of a new album many fans are worried that the group is "doing a Finkl" who dived into an endless dormant period without ever announcing an official breakup. Music industry insiders are also getting restless as Kpop sales continue to slump toward record lows. GOD released Kpop's last million selling album when their 4th album in 2001 topped the million mark and earned the group four Daesangs.

New album releases: Former SES members Eugene and Bada are both targeting August releases for their respective 2nd albums. Eugene who's aiming at an early August comeback recently signed a 6 month endorsement contract worth $120,000 to model for LG's cosmetic brand. The deal will also support her gasoo activities including the shooting of the music video and album jacket. Eugene had concentrated on her studies as a French literature major at Korea University after her 1st album activities last year. Meanwhile Bada who will have 5 of Japan's top producers working on her new album is expected to come out in late August.

More new releases: A release date of August 10 has been announced for Shinhwa's official 7th album after a delay of several weeks. The group is currently scheduled to stage their Comeback Special on SBS Inky Gayo on August 8.

More news: According to Oricon Style's recent survey of 20,000 Japanese fans Boa is the gasoo that people would most like to have as a friend. According to the same survey Boa is also the 3rd most liked female artist by males after Utada Hikaru and Aiko and the 4th most liked female artist by females. SM Entertainment also denied rumors that Boa applied for Yonsei University which is considered Korea's 2nd best universtiy. Boa who's currently performing her 4th album's "My Name" will fly over to Japan for an Avex sponsored concert on August 1. Her next Japanese single is scheduled to come out on September 1.

KyeSang is leaving GOD. He's going to act in a banjun drama and then he will begin his military service later this year. The rest of GOD will release the album as planned, but without KyeSang.

G.O.D. member Kim Tae-woo, 24, will hold a mini-concert May 5 at Kwangwoon University at 4 p.m. to celebrate his birthday, which falls on May 12. He will invite 550 people who have agreed to donate a total of 55 million won to UNICEF to benefit children all over the world on Children¡¯s Day. Kim says in doing so he wants to pay back all the love he has received from his fans so far.

Kim is staging his first solo concert six years since G.O.D.¡¯s debut. The concert will consist of three parts. The first two parts will include Kim¡¯s ¡°frank talk¡± section and a ¡°self-camera¡± piece showing him not a G.O.D. member but as an individual artist. In the third part of the concert Kim will perform solo as well as sing with some surprise guests.

The Korean boy band god -- pronounced G-O-D, for groove over dose -- is no more. The group, which captured the hearts of well nigh the entire country after their debut in 1999, at a press conference on Wednesday morning said their upcoming concert series "The Last" will, as the name suggests, be their last, as will their most recent album "Into the Sky", their seventh.

The five-member group consisting of Kim Tae-woo, Danny Ahn, Park Joon-hyung, Son Ho-young and Yoon Kye-sang has been plagued by rumors of an impending break-up since the end of 2003. After member Yoon Kye-sang left for Korea's mandatory military service in November last year, the band kept on performing, but last May another member, Son Ho-young, caused controversy when it was thought he would try to use his dual citizenship to dodge the draft. However, Son later announced he will serve. Kim Tae-woo, who passed his medical with flying colors, announced he intends to join up in the same group as band-mate Son, making it impossible for the band to go on.

On Oct. 28, god will release their seventh and final album and hold a series of 20 concerts from Nov. 10 to Dec. 11, four times a week from Thursday to Sunday, at Olympic Hall in Seoul Olympic Park. “The fact that all our members are heading off for the Army is definitely the biggest reason that we can't continue, but we also felt that we all just needed a break because we have been running nonstop since our debut,” the group said. “We do not want to use the word ‘break up.’ Even though we can't say when, someday we will get together again to play music.”

Singer Son Ho-young to Go Solo

Singer Son Ho-young, a member of the male group G.O.D., will go solo through a showcase concert on September 12.

Son will present some songs from his solo debut album, including “I Cry” and “Yes,” at the concert, which will be held at the Seoul Fashion Art Hall in Dongdaemun, Seoul. The title song “I Cry,” a lyric ballad, highlights the powerful voice of Son, who can sing three octaves. The medium-tempo funky style “Yes” is a dance song with a pounding beat.

Son has reportedly abandoned his old singing style which he used for the last seven years during his G.O.D. days, and acquired a totally new style for the solo album.

Son said, “I’m more nervous than when I debuted as a member of G.O.D. I’m afraid of presenting a performance alone without the other members. But I will show fans everything I have as a musician at the concert.”

Other G.O.D. members like Park Jun-hyung, Kim Tae-woo and Danny Ahn, and his close celebrity friends including singer Oak Joo-hyun and actress Jo Yeo-jung, will appear in the concert as guests to congratulate Son. Comedian Jung Jun-ha will host the show.

Anyways...GOD was my introduction to k-pop....I feel in love with "Gil"....It's sad to know that Kyesang has left to pursue an acting career. I have seen him in "sister-in-law" as well and he has got the cutest SMILE ever. I think that was one of the reason I watched the series in the first place....has anyone seen "flying boys". Kyesang and lee junki are in there. They are ballet dancers...cute movie....

To my knowledge, Hoyoung and Danny were born in the US but were raised in Korea. Joonhyung was born and raised in California.

Just a little update on the members:

Hoyoung: he debuted as a solo artist and his album hit #1. you can catch all of his solo performances on youtube.

Danny: he has stopped his activities as a DJ for Kiss The Radio station. he has stated that he wants to get into acting now.

Kyesang: he left god in 2004 and acted in a movie, Flying Boys and a drama, My Sister In Law Is 19. Both garnered him alot of attention as his acting is pretty good. He even got the best new actor award for his role in Flying Boys. shortly afterwards, he enlisted in the army but will be released this December. Currently, he's what you call an "entertainment soldier" and he serves as a VJ for an army music show.

Taewoo: after recording many successful duets and collaborations with various artists, he is deciding on releasing a solo album in the upcoming months. Before the year ends, he will enlist in the army.

Joon: I have no idea what he's up to but I assume he's relaxing in sunny California.

I think the song you're talking about is called I love you and remember. there is a guy running throughout the entire video right? that guy is yoon kyesang, a member of god. that song is the title song from their second album. if you want to be 100% correct, just go to youtube.com, then type in the search box, g.o.d love and remember. that video should pop up. hope that helps.
