![]() Noted Chinese film star Gong Li, who is currently filming ace director Zhang Yimou's "Wearing Golden Armor Across the City" in the national capital of Beijing, has confirmed her next role will be in James Huth's English-language movie "The Yellow M." Based on Edgar P. Jacobs' comic-strip characters Blake and Mortimer, "The Yellow M" will be an adventure thriller centering on MI5 agent Blake and brilliant physicist Mortimer who fight evil in 1950s London. Gong will play the enigmatic Dr. Li Mei, a scientist whose intelligence is matched only by her icy beauty, the Tianjin-based Morning Post reported. "The role is fresh to me and I have a lot of confidence in the director," Gong was quoted as saying. Rufus Sewell ("A Knight's Tale") and Hugh Bonneville ("Notting Hill") will respectively play Blake and Mortimer. Gong rose to stardom over a decade ago with art house hits like "Red Sorghum'' and "Raise the Red Lantern.'' She recently carved a niche in Hollywood after appearing in "Miami Vice", "Young Hannibal: Behind the Mask" and "Memoirs of a Geisha." Produced by the French company Telema with a budget of 33 million U.S. dollars, "The Yellow M" is reported to be set to go into production in Britain. Gong first disclosed that she would participate in "The Yellow M" at the Venice Film Festival in 2002, but filming has been delayed until now. Huth's previously directed the French-language comedy "Serial Lover". This post has been edited by 浪客劍心: Apr 4 2006 2 51 PM |

wow, pretty revealing picture. I guess what they say is right: 40 is the new 20!!! I haven't seen many of her movies so I can't comment about her acting skill but she's definitely an international star. English can be worked on and improved so there's nothing much in her way.

She is one of those that just seems to look better with age, good for her. If she TRULY wants to make a big splash internationally or rather in Hollywood, her english does need to improve a bit. I had a hard time understanding what she was saying in Memoirs.

I've always loved gong li. She's a great actor and she never AGES!!! she soo beautiful. but in this picture, I think she doesn't look quite as elegant as she usually does. Oh well, I still like her a lot and I hope that her career is smooth sailing from here!

I was in shock when I first saw agn after so many years cos she has grown but still looks good for her age.
I used to watch her movies with Stephen Chow - the characters weren't as vicious as now so it's a change to see her being a total icy b*t*h |
