Well while surfing the series download section of the forums, i was thinking i have never seen a sports series. Ancient or Modern. Is there any sports series that i missed, i would love to know if there was ever a sports series.
I just remember two series that was related to sports. 1) Heart Of Fencing 2) Sunshine Heartbeat. I have only seen Heart of Fencing and i thought it was a nice series, was thrilling and exciting, but there shoulda been more matches, not that i didnt like the romantic parts. QUOTE(Goolo @ May 9 2006 1 50 PM) didn't dicky cheung do soccer? Yeah, the serie is titled "Kung Fu Soccer", starring a lot of famous artists. And there is a Taiwanese serie about basketball, I think it's called "MVP lover". Some years ago, Steven Ma did a serie about horse riding, but I don't remember the title anymore. I think there are a lot of sport-related series, but you just have to search for it. |

I remember an oldie with Hacken Lee in it, about Kendo. Such a summer youth series back in the late 80s. There are some more, but can't remember anymore, all from the 80s

On The Track Or Off was about horse racing...dont know if this series counts as a sport ones
I dont think there is an ancient series that was mainly about sports...i've only seen parts in series where sports was involved, but that weren't the main plot. |

Oh, wasn't there one with Karate? or Tae Kwon Do? (can't remember, LOL)
The series was called Aiming High, with Nicholas Tse & Nicola Cheung - pretty cool series. I enjoyed it. |

there was a series about horse racing with Steven Ma. Forgot it, but pretty recently, there was: Hearts of Fencing, which is about fencing and Sunshine Heartbeat (aka Hearts of Fencing 2) which is about volleyball but both are pretty short (around 10-13 eps?)

Nicholas Tse and Nicolas Cheung's "Aiming High" was about judo.
Football doesn't exist in Hong Kong. If I'm not mistaken, football as in the NFL only exists in America. Elsewhere "football" the the term used for soccer. Thats why in certain series, they say "football" but they are talking about soccer. |

I think there's a fair number like aqua heroes or something. But usually it seems these sport-themed series is used to push out some rookie actors or new singers that want to gain more recognition.

The thing I noticed is that they can't really have sports related series too often because they have the same bunch of actors and actresses and if they aren't athletic in the first place, you can't expect them to train and being athletic (in one sports area) and film 5 years later.
American shows and movies are made possible because they don't only have a couple of actors and actresses. Hollywood is willing to pull athletic people off the streets and use them to film. The movie "Coach Carter" is the best example. There are only 3 out of the 8-10 basketball players on the team that have had acting experience. The rest of them are in it because they can play ball. |
