Scavenger's Paradise aka Same Work Same Bowl
Tung Lo Tung Bo Cast: Roger Kwok - Tang Wai Cheung Myolie Wu - Cheng Pik Wan Kenneth Ma - Tang Keng Chan Cherie Kong - Lam Fung Wayne Lai - Tse Kwan Min Chun Wong - Ling Sing Bo Wong Yeuk Tung - Dik Lai Na Lo Yuen Yan - Lam Lan Hing Summary: (CREDITS: TVBSPACENEWS) Roger Kwok's character is originally from China, but he goes to Hong Kong. His personality is simple-minded, honest, and hardworking as he is willing to endure strenuous labour. In Hong Kong, he is faced with many obstacles, so he needs his uncle (mom’s cousin who will be played by Kenneth Ma) to take care of him and support him. However, Kenneth always devises schemes to instantly become rich as he manipulates Roger into being his money-making tool. Nephew Roger is optimistic, righteous and loyal to friendship, so he does not mind or care about what Kenneth tells him to do. Afterwards, Kenneth is moved by his loyalty; thus, both uncle and nephew are in the same work and the same bowl as they work together to make money. The two are then involved in a complex love square with Myolie Wu and Cherie Kong. The story will take place in the scenaries of the 1950s in Hong Kong. In order to make it more realistic, the producer will include historical events, such as lining up for water at specific time periods when there were water shorages, typhoons, sudden revolts, etc., so the viewers understand the past in a convincing manner. The former well-known perfume brands will also be used in their original jars and bottles. They have also arranged for the cast to sing ancient golden melodies to add a nostalgic feeling as well as capture the essence of the past. Release Date: Early 2005 ASIANFANATICS DISCLAIMER: TVB or any other company hold all the series' copyrights and we're not associated with them in any way. Please follow the forum rules. [Ta Kung Pao 31/08/04]
Roger Kwok, Myolie Wu, Cherie Kong, Kenneth Ma and Wong Yeuk Tung were among the cast members from "Same Work Same Bowl" who headed out to Zhongshan yesterday for the location filming. As this shoot will only last until mid-September, they did not take too much luggage with them. Although she was unwell, Roger's girlfriend Cindy Au still saw him off at the port they seemed very loving towards each other. They indicate that this is because they have been apart from each other a lot recently, with Roger only spending just over two months in Hong Kong, so they have to make the most of their time together. When asked if she will be visiting her boyfriend in Zhongshan, Cindy says that she will not because she has some stage work to do and although one of the stops is in Zhongshan, this is after Roger has finished filming there. Roger also says that she does not want his girlfriend to come and visit him because he is worried about her safety whilst travelling. He says: "This is only a short time away from each other, we have been apart for six months before. If I accept another mainland series shortly, then we may be apart for a while again." He admits that he has been away from his girlfriend a lot this year, only spending two months in Hong Kong and with this shoot for "Same", that has been cut down to just over a month. With the saying: "Absence makes the heart grow fonder", have they found their relationship growing stronger? Roger laughs: "There is nothing unusual that has happened between us, so I don't feel anything particularly good about it. Although we miss each other, we are used to it now." As Myolie had to host the closing ceremony for the Olympic Games, she was only able to return home to pack at 5am and catch an hours sleep before heading out to the harbour. Luckily she does not have to start working straight away when she reaches Zhongshan, just appearing at a short ceremony before being able to rest. Among Myolie's luggage are the boredom-busting VCD's and CD's as well as some cup noodles for emergencies because she does not know what the food will be like there. http://www.takungpao.com/news/2004-8-31/UL-300274.htm http://www.tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/ |

Scavenger's Paradise
Producer: Kwan Wing Chung Script: Wong Kwok Fai Cast: Kenneth Ma, Roger Kwok, Myolie Wu, Cherrie Kong Synopsis: This story is set in Hong Kong in the 50's and 60's and how two young people with different personalities meet and look out for one another. Tang Wai Cheung (Roger Kwok) and Tang Kwok Fung (??) (Kenneth Ma) are uncle and nephew, but have different characters. After the death of his parents, Cheung arrives in Hong Kong to look for Ling Sing Bo, because Ling owed his father a favour, where he meets his uncle Kwok. Because Kwok owes a large amoutn of money to the loan sharks, the two of them can only work in whatever they can to make money to repay the loan. After working through 72 different jobs, they meet Cheng Pik Wan (Myolie Wu) and Ling Fung (Cherrie Kong) and embark on their own happy love stories. Kenneth: "The series is full of the sights and colours of the fifties and sixties and you could say that it is a classic show from the times but in colour. The younger generation will find it quite fun and the older generation will find it very reminiscent, like looking back on their pasts. The main selling point of course is Roger, because he has become a very flexible actor and he captures the essence of Brother Cheung [ref to Cantonese opera and classic film star Tang Wing Cheung]. I learned a lot from working with him and as well as looking after his own performance, he often offered a lot of advice to me on how to act. He would go into every detail and offer a fix for every scene, so the whole show is very refined!" Credit: Em & Yan - http://tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/

Roger Kwok Chun On, Myolie Wu Hung Yi, Ma Kwok Ming, Kong Chi Nei and Iris Wong Yat Tung yesterday dressed in nostalgic clothing to promote their TVB series SCAVENGER'S PARADISE (TUNG LO TUNG BO). On Jai looked fatter lately, he admitted, "In the show I had to drop to 140 pounds to play Cheung Gor, now in AH WONG SUN JUEN I have to raise to 160 pounds." Because he has been working on KUNG FU MAHJONG (JEUK SING) at the same time he has had a rather hard time. The film finally wrapped two nights ago, but for this scene director Wong Jing wanted him to play mahjong and sing at the same time. He said to Wong Jing that it was highly difficult, but Wong Jing said that he only got him because it was difficult. When he heard that a fire suddenly burnt inside him to make this scene great. As for whether Wong Jing would make a film that was similar to the nostalgic series, he felt that he could suggest it to Wong Jing and would like to work with him on it.

Weird voices they had to use. I understand why but isn't it hard to maintain your voice like that for the whole serie? It doesn't matter 'cause they did it. It wasn't a bad serie but it wasn't that great either. I don't know what else to say about it. It was average, it was good to watch when there was nothing to watch.

I really liked the way they spoke in this drama. Esp. with Kenneth Ma, he was hilarious in series. But too bad the storyline was a bit dry and predictable. Just glad that I'm done with this series.
