No worries, asian guys do like black women, maybe just not those that follow stereotypes too closely. Aside from that, i'd say you have nothing to worry about. =)

I asked if (black or white) Asian men like non Asian black women (e.g. African-American).

You guys keep talking about caucasian women and I'm like in tears, cause there seems to be no love for black women at all... weeping.gif

But as KC_deathscythe said "If there's love... race is not an issue".

Well. There is a small percentage of Asian men who are in relationships with black women, but it is more common with the other way around, black men with Asian women.

Thank you American media. Thank you. You made my life so much easier to deal with.

I wouldn't go so far to say that "all" hope is lost, but it's definitely in the minority (in case you haven't noticed sweat.gif). That's not to say it doesn't happen, because it does. Also it depends how pretty you are too, I mean I'm sure Halle Barry or Christina Milan look-alikes would attract plenty of asians. biggrin.gif

Anyhow, if you REALLY want an Asian boyfriend, my best advice is to get to know more of them and if they are into black girls, they would definitely let you know since they probably don't know that many black girls either. Also you'd have better luck with 2nd or 3rd generation asians who are born in a Western country (in your case, Finland) because the 1st generation will still be quite traditional but chances are that you'd be unlikely to get into the 1st gen friends' group in the first place.

Well for a open minded asian man then a black woman is no problem and there is always hope. I know a African American who has a chinese husband. Chinese and Indians have married blacks in west indies. Sepiraph is right though it is in the minority. I found a interesting article
QUOTE
Universal preference of whiteness over blackness?

I was at a party when I overheard a Chinese acquaintance remark "the fear of blacks is instinctive". To support his point, he mentioned the mainland Chinese distaste for African students in China despite limited media exposure to blacks. A white man disagreed with him, insisting that prejudice is learned. The Chinese man happened to have many white friends, but no black friends.

Sometimes, it seems the preference of white Europeans over black Africans (and black Asians and Australians) has reached worldwide epidemic proportions. This mentality travels beyond places where significant numbers of dark-skinned Australians/Africans and white Europeans actually live. Even natives of East Asia, which has no significant populations of blacks or whites, venerate whites and vilify blacks. In addition to this, many Asians prize 'European' features like 'high noses', 'oval faces' and 'light hair and eyes' over indigenous features like 'flat noses' and 'black hair and eyes'.

The prevalence of such attitudes easily lends support to the theory of the white "Master race," i.e. white people's superiority is so natural that even people of color instinctively recognize it and ascribe respect to different races according to their place on the color line. Just how far does this common world view go back in time?

By taking a look at the prejudices expressed by people at various points in history, we can see that whites are not immune to scorn and misunderstanding from Asians too. There is nothing innate or 'natural' about Asian perceptions of white superiority. The adoration of whites today could just as easily be the vilification of whites, depending on historical circumstances and the dictates of contemporary media.

QUOTE
Modern Asian attitudes towards black and white

The Shanghainese are known for admiring Western civilization. One in four Shanghainese sons-in-law are foreign (including foreign-born Chinese and other Asians). Many Chinese parents boast proudly of daughters married to European/Euro-North American men. This enthusiastic reception for white foreigners contrasts with the prevalent Chinese belief, held even by members of the supposedly non-racist Communist party, that people of African descent are unredeemably savage. But was the white-good-black-bad mentality part of Chinese tradition? Or is it a product of Western imperialism?

Koreans and Japanese have similar attitudes towards blacks and whites.

Japanese animation
is full of beautiful, sexy and heroic white characters. A European woman who saw Sailor Moon noted with much amusement, "If this is Japanese animation, why do none of the characters look Japanese?" The few black characters in other works of Japanese animation are mostly negative or marginal. The recent LA riots in the US testify to the damaging effects of Korean attitudes towards blacks. Generally, white consumers are treated better than black consumers in Korean establishments. Many Koreans and Japanese dye their hair blonde, brown or red. Blue and green contact lenses are also popular among young East Asians.

Southeast Asians, wherever they're living in the world, also express similar white-is-better-than-black attitudes. A black Amerasian living in Vietnam said he wished he was a white Amerasian instead. A Filipino American woman who ran an Asian social group allowed white friends and partners of members to attend but came up with an excuse ("Asians only") when a group member wanted to bring a black friend. A South Asian woman recalled with horror a stranger knocking on her door, expressly noting it was "an African American man". Race is almost never tagged onto descriptions of white strangers.

QUOTE
Pre-modern Asian ideas on 'race'

Apparently, the white-is-right attitude so prevalent today was not always the norm.
Standards of beauty in South and Southeast Asia:

Marco Polo reports on the Dravidians of South India:
"It is a fact that in this country when a child is born they anoint him once a week with oil of sesame, and this makes him grow much darker than when he was born. For I assure you that the darkest man is here the most highly esteemed and considered better than those who are not so dark. Let me add that in very truth these people portray and depict their gods and idols black and their devils white as snow. For they say that God and all the saints are black and the devils are all white..."9

In the Chinese record Nan Tsi Chou, a Chinese traveler to Southeast Asia wrote that the local people "consider black the most beautiful." 10 Although modern Filipinos prize the 'high-nosed', oval-faced European-blooded individual as beautiful, some even going as far as to pinch their children's nose bridges in the hopes of achieving a higher nose, this has not always been the case. Prior to European colonization, the ancient Visayans of the Philippines considered the very opposite of high noses and oval faces handsome. Visayans, as well as some other Austronesian peoples in Malaysia and Indonesia, compressed their babies' skulls to achieve broad faces with receding foreheads and flat noses . The Minahasa of Celebes even restricted binding with a forehead board to the nobility.

Despite the negatives continue to keep a open mind and judge people as individuals rather than a group. why in particular are you looking for an asian guy there aren't hardly any in finland?

I don't remember the post but there is certainly validity in what you say

These are certainly a lot of numbers to consider. Basically, what these stats tell us is that among the six major Asian American ethnic groups, among both husbands and wives, the groups that are most likely to have a White spouse are Japanese. Although the numbers for intermarriage with Blacks and Hispanics/Latinos are low, Asians who are most likely to intermarry with Blacks are Asian Indian husbands and Filipino wives while Filipino and Japanese husbands and Filipino wives are most likely to intermarry with Hispanics/Latinos. Those who are most likely to marry within their own ethnic group are Korean husbands and Asian Indian wives. Finally, Japanese (husbands and wives) are most likely to marry another Asian American (outside their own ethnic group)

Hrm... obviously because beautiful people attract other people. I think people like to mention these names because they are famous beautiful black women, and that one can get an idea on what most people generally see as beautiful for black women. As for the other view, I'll go on record to say that white (or really anyone) who looks like models are much more attractive to others, including Asian... it is just that it's so simple and implicitly understood and doesn't even need to be said.

Of course these women are beautiful but I think it depends on what your exposed to. I think if you live in a multicultural society and see black women on a day to day basis then those examples aren't needed. But if you don't then I suppose a example is needed. There are Asians here in Finland, but most of them live in Helsinki. I live in Vantaa, which is right next to the city, but it takes 20 min by train to get to the Helsinki railway station from my house. And I don't go out much, since I like to stay up at night and sleep half the day away. A habit I haven't gotten out of yet (but have to before school starts again).

My lil sister is a model (she's not that well known yet), and I could be one too if I wasn't so "fat". Fat, as in "not skin and bones, a skeleton" fat. But since guys like the way I am like this and I pretty much am okay like this, I don't starve myself to death or anything. And I wanna be a singer, not a model.

And I don't wear make-up (most my age here do), which should say a lot, since I'm very self conscious. And I've been told I'm beautiful by people I don't know (guy friends of a friend of mine and even strangers) and I only wear mascara and a touch of lip gloss on my lips. And usually I don't bother with the mascara.

Let's just say I don't have to put on tons of make-up to look pretty or beautiful. Is that "naturally beautiful"?
And my lil sister has to wear make-up, since she's got a bad habit of picking her skin... Leaving ugly scars.

I don't really like rap/hip hop anymore. In a way I do, but I like Asian music more. I like J-Rock and -Pop, since I can understand a bit of the language already. Chinese (Mandarin) sounds romantic (don't look at me like that! cluebat.gif) and I've just gotten into Korean music.

Basically... I like a couple of songs from different genres of music. I can listen to anything and either like it straight away or learn to like it.

And I don't act black. My dad's Afro-American, but since I've lived my whole life in Finland and my dad's lived in the States... I never actually learned the "Black Attitude". But at home and when I'm with friends I'm myself. Though I look black and am proud of being black, I'm also proud of being myself.

I want a man who has an open mind (because I have one), is proud of his culture, and is proud of being himself. I hate the Euro-hoppers here in Finland (white trying to be black). They're trying to be something they're not. I just wanna yell at them to be themselves, stop acting so "cool", cause they're not. They just try too hard... And if you'd see them, you'd feel the same way. Elementary school kids smoking and all that... Not cool.

I'm half black, but I won't take offense, since I wouldn't want to do a really dark black dude either (in your case, black girl). My skin's slightly tanned (a slightly tanned version of créme) and if I'd have to do a black dude, he should be a mulatto just like me. Very dark black men scare me...

I dunno about it looking wrong... Skin contrast is like art to me, and I'm the final masterpiece (all the children of mixed races are). My upstairs neighbor is a very nice Thai lady and she runs a small daycare in her own home. She's taking care of her sister's son, a coupl of white girls and this little mulatto boy who's the most cutest guy I've ever seen! He's about a year old or so and he smiled at me when I happened to be outside at the same time. The first thing I thought was "OMG!! He's so cute! Ooh... He'll get all them girls when he's a teen!"

I love kids and can't wait to have my own... *sigh*

I don't wanna look like Beyoncé, Rihanna, or Halle Berry. My sister wants to look like Beyoncé, but that's a different story.

I've had self image issues, cause my sister's been saying I'm fat since I was a little kid. Now I've slowly started to realize that I've never been fat, just a different body build than she. And the guys didn't look at me that way at first, cause I looked different (black). But now as it's so common to see black, Asian, white... etc together, both black and white guys have taken interest.

I still don't exactly know why... See? Problems with my self image!

But... The Asian guys are all in Helsinki... I've almost lost hope with them (since all my friends see more Asians than I do while just walking around... No fair...) but I want to visit Asian countries.

I've been promised a trip to Japan when I graduate from school and my mum said that it might be possible for me to go to China as an exchange student or something... I'd like that.
I'm a bit scared of Korea (south and north), since I don't know that much about it yet and don't understand why it's separate. I've been told a million times, but I just don't understand why. Maybe I'll understand someday... blush.gif

Your kidding aren't you? You look black, your proud to be black and now your saying very dark black men scare you! what is there to be scared of? You'll only go out with a black guy who has the same the skin colour as you, why is that?? You're not making this requirement with Asian guys. You said earlier that everybody seems to be talking about caucasian women and there almost seems like no love for the black women. The articles explain the main reasons but you appear to have that exact same mindset by saying that very dark skinned black guys scare you and you'll only accept a black guy with the same kind of skin tone as yourself. You want a open minded asian guy and you say you have one yourself but how open minded are you being with your approach to black guys by discriminating them by their color?
Being black doesn't equate to street slang and liking hiphop or reggae music or wearing certain types of clothes. Would Ja rule be someone with a black attitude and acts as a black guy is expected to act?
Hell that guy doesn't even know that Soweto is a township in South Africa he thought it was a night club!!!
There is nothing wrong with an interest in other cultures just as long as the person knows about their own culture and does not reject it.

He's about a year old or so and he smiled at me when I happened to be outside at the same time. The first thing I thought was "OMG!! He's so cute! Ooh... He'll get all them girls when he's a teen!"
I've said this many times because a child is mixed race it doesnt mean they're beautiful. Its depends on the genes I've seen good looking and not so good looking mixed race children they're are just like everybody else in that regard. If skin contrast is like a art to you then you shouldn't be scared of very dark black men after all their skin would contrast to your own.

I wasn't like that, you know. I had this very dark man harrass me sexually a while back and I'm still kinda shocked by it. That's why I'm scared of them.

And I'm not making that requirement with Asian men, cause non have harrassed me. If one did, then I'd be more cautious about them too. That's just the way I am...

So... To correct myself, I had an open mind (and will as soon as I get over the man trying to force me to have sex with him).

It doesn't matter if the person is good looking or not. I just said they're masterpieces. It's an expression, because I called the "main" races art. But if you didn't like that expression, I'm sorry.

It seems we're not on the same page. I won't take offense of the things you wrote.

And I explained the reason why I'm scared of very dark skinned black men above. But now you know the reason why I'm scared of them.

But I do have African friends, so I'm not that afraid of them anymore. It was just one (or three) bad experiences with black men, but I'll get over this whole thing.

And I've noticed I'm not very attracted to black or white men. I can't help the fact that I like Asian men, because it started as curiosity when I was a little girl and bloomed into attraction after I turned 12.

I'm just... Argh! Sorry, okay? I hate it when people misunderstand me... *pout*

My cousin married an Afican American as his wife, and they already have 3 kids together, so there, it is possible for an asian guy to fall in love with a black woman.

Good luck finding your love~

Although she has already answered your question, I think your logic doesn't really apply here. People's preference on attractiveness is a personal choice, and if I said that I'm not attracted to a GREEN-skinned person, is that a racist statement? (because it is NOT, it's a colour issue) Also I agree in principle on some of the things that you said, and I think you view the world as black or white (logically-speaking). You can have that type of worldview if you want, but I think life is more complicated than that.

True, being born into a particular skin colour doesn't necessarily make you act a certain way, but you also have to remember that people are influenced by the media, their life experiences that may be a result of racism, and the society's expectation. If you are always exposed to racism and prejudice, it'd be quite difficult for you to not have a more racially-biased view of the world.

Nothing's impossible. I've seen the couples around. And if you've ever taken specific classes at school, you'll know there's no such thing as race. You can't justify splitting the entire world up into different races. Anyway, just to go back to the old system and your question, don't give up, I guess. If you believe in it, it will happen.

I'm sorry for your bad experiences. I'm sure as time goes on you will look at the whole picture and realise
if you haven't realised already that bad behavior knows no color.
I think looking for a Asian guy in Finland is not an easy thing to do because they are such a small minority.
Good luck anyway.

Its a fact that most people prefer their own ethnicity.we as human beings when choosing a partner will pick someone similar to themselves. I think that if someone says they don't like a particular ethnic group then this statement in itself is not racist and as a preference fo another the statement in itself is not racist. But importantly the reasons behind the preferences might be.

There are reasons behind our actions and choices that we make. There is a reason for preference. Look deep enough and the answer to the question why? can usually be found.

The reasons for preference may or may not be racist ones it depends. I'm well aware that life is complicated and the world is not black and white thats why I say there is a reason behind preference. As Ayume-chan as already proved.

Unfortunately thats correct. The biggest selling Newspaper in Britain is The Sun a tabloid newspaper and also a racist one.

I don't like this question either, but it's been running through my head for over 2 years, so I had to let it out. And I've so far only seen Asian guys with either Asian girls or Caucasian.

I had heard that some African American women have married Asian men, but me and my stupid insecurities wouldn't believe it. But now since most of you have said that it's possible, though uncommon, I feel like I'd still have a slight chance. That's all I need.

I also hate categorizing people, but I didn't know any other way to ask this question.

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. unsure.gif

It is hard! I don't know any Asian guys! I only know a few Asian girls...
Two Chinese and two Thai...

I know it's a small number, but it's a start. Right?

And my mum was asking me a couple of months ago if I'd like to go to China or Japan as an exchange student or something... I was really happy when she suggested that.

What better way to make more Asian friends and find him, than go to their own country? At the same time I can get an insight of the culture up close!

But I still have to wait a year or two, my mum said... down.gif

Not all black women wear make-up. I don't, cause I believe beauty comes from the inside and not the other way around.

Fake hair? Oh! You mean the extensions some braid/sew into their hair?

Afro hair grows naturally down to approximately your chest, and a bit longer if you take real good care of it. My hair won't be growing longer than it is now, though I'd want it to. But I've gone to the hairdresser and permanently straightened my hair. It's too hard for me to tame otherwise.

And you could phrase your sentences a bit more nicely. Just a "I don't find black girls attractive" would've done the trick.

There's a truth that some people tend to forget... A person may look "ugly" on the outside, but inside that person might just be everything you ever wished for.

I think that Sepiraph is right you are far more likely to have better luck with 2nd or 3rd generation asians who are born in a Western country.
1st generation are far more likely to be racist against you because you're black.
Going to China or Japan as an exchange student is a good idea. When you go clear your mind of trying to meet a guy otherwise you may come over as desperate and you may be disappointed. Just go and have a good time and see what happens.

I don't think that'll be a problem. I clam up when I talk to guys, any guys I don't know actually. So I won't come over as desperate. Most likely weird or just... weird, but I miraculously have friends. I'm just shy in the beginning.

But I'll take your advice and clear my head first.

@ Ayume,
ok pretty much its like this. If ur hawt, any guy will like u (as superficial as that may sound). we're reaching an age where theres more interracial dating, girls are picking up guys (woohoo), and even same sex dating.

Do Asian men like non Asian black women?

I'd like to know if all my hope for an Asian boyfriend is lost already... laugh.gif
i think its rare, honestly. most of my asian friends stick with asians. But im sure there are some Dim Sum Guys + Aaliyah (R.I.P.) relationships (Romeo Must Die)

You're the first one here to say you like black girls. clapping.gif

I'm not going to move to any particular country. Maybe America, but that's only because I don't like living with my mum and sister. My dad and most of my relatives live in America, so... >.>;;

I just said I'm going to go to either China or Japan as an exchange student. If I'm lucky (which I'm usually not) I might find someone there. But only if I'm lucky...

gosh i feel like im digging up old topics..which i am...but... lol... i just been browsing and saw this welll i think to the person who made ask this question...

I think that race does not matter as long as you like/love the person. Personally I dated asian and black before. I agree with you that beauty is from the inside. Oh, and I will confirm that there are asian guys who like black girls, because one of my bestfriend likes a black female.

At first I thought your question was just the sake of curiosity... but when you said... 'so i dont lose hope' it seem like you ask more because you wanted to know if an asian guy would like you... but as you stated before...beauty is from the inside so why does the guy has to be asian?

Or are you just asking for the sake of it? ... Do I sound mean? If so im apologize... I didnt mean to sound rude or anything.

Well. There is a small percentage of Asian men who are in relationships with black women, but it is more common with the other way around, black men with Asian women.

Thank you American media. Thank you. You made my life so much easier to deal with.

I see that quite a lot actually, I don't think I've seen 1 asian guy and a black women as a couple but I quite often see black guy and an asian woman as a couple. It's the same the whites, there aren't many asian guy and white girl couples but plenty of white guy and asian girl couples. I think it's that asian girls seem be "exotic"...it's a shame it doesn't happen the other way round...ah well, that's life.
