Hello, I'm really interested in re-renting tvb's longest ever series "A Kindred Spirit". But I can't seem to find any infos about it. Can anyone help me out. Thank-you.

All I know is it's about elderly people, Celine Ma and Michael Tse are paired up, Similar cast to Virtues...

That series just got more boring as it went on, I gave up on the last couple hundred episodes but watched the ending. OMFG this series is so boring...

A Kindred Spirit was a television drama series that was broadcasted on TVB Jade in Hong Kong from 1994-2000. It is the longest running drama show in Hong Kong television history. Its exceptional longevity still amases people in a city where scripted TV drama programs only lasts around 20 episodes, with the show running daily. The show centers around a family who operates a restaurant in Hong Kong. The family members include:

Bing (often called Char Siu Bing by his family members)- The head of the family who operates the restaurant and makes Chinese BBQ foods for a living.
Auntie Shin- Wife of Bing. A typical housemaker who took care of her children carefully and fed them for many years.
Grandma Ga- Auntie Shin's mother.
Auntie Yung- The servant of Grandma Ga.
Hoi- Adopted son of Auntie Yung. His biological mother, from whom he was separated from during a big fire in the 60's, is the wife of a wealthy Malaysian Chinese tycoon.
As the show progressed, more new characters were added into the show. The show finally ended in 2000.

I remember watching that series when i was like, 6 years old. It was interesting at first, but then it never seemed to end so i have up on the last thousand episodes(hehe).

the ending was kinda wierd. they had an ending to the show and then an ending for the cast members. does that sound confusing? when i was done with the series, i felt like i was saying goodbye to my family. separation was hard.

I remember watching this series too but I didnt get the chance to watch the end..What's the ending and and can someone tell me about Hawick Lau's love storyline..I remember they added a new girl in Hawick's love storyline..Did he end up with May Kwong or the other girl in the end??...I remember he was about to get marrrry with the other girl.

The ending was a very happy one. The old cast members came back including Kenix Kwok, Sunny Chan, Winnie Yeung, etc. for Hawick and May's wedding along with Yuet Lam (don't know his real name) and Ah Chu's (Melissa Ng) wedding (it was a combined wedding).

As for Hawick Law... He was caught in a love triangle that involved Joann (May Kwong) and Jun Jun (don't know her real name). He was going marry Jun Jun when she told him that she was pregnant with his child, but then the secret was expose that she wasn't pregnant. He tried to break up with her but she threatened to accuse him of rape if he doesn't go through with the wedding. On the wedding day, when they asked him "do you take Jun Jun to be your wife?" he said no so she slapped up. After that she left the show for good. Then a while later, he bumped into Joann and things started to heat for them and they got back together.

then her parents took her back to the states where she can start her "new life"

After Ah Jing (Lap Sung's wife) woke up she pretended as if she had amnesia and couldn't walk from all that rest during the coma. She thought that she wasn't good enough for him. She thought that Ah Chiu (Melissa Ng) was a better match for him so she kept playing dumb. Eventually the family found out what she was up to and put on a little play for her that allowed her to stand up for the first time and to regain her strength.

After that, they finally got married basically. She became best friends with Ah Chiu and gave her the honor of becoming the baby's godmother. Lap Sung got a job offer in England and was about to pursue it. Ah Jing thought that it was the perfect time for her to finish her course (for school) in England so she was thrilled about it. At the same time Say Hay (her niece) received a scholarship to attend school in England and her father thought that it was a great idea since Ah Jing (her sister) would be able to look after her. Lap Sung later found out that the hospital in HK wanted him to be the head of his department (something like that) and wanted to stay instead. Ah Jing wanted what's best for Lap Sung and insisted that he stayed in HK while she was plotting to leave for England secretly to pursue her goal, but Lap Sung found out what she was up to and took time off for 2 weeks or so to go with them until they were securely settled in England. He later returned to HK [alone]. After that, we didn't see Ah Jing anymore until the special after the final episode. They were still happily married by the way '.

This is just a long STORY! Last time this show was played in Malaysia ( 4 years ago I think ) - the last time I watched was already Epi 600 something..

i couldn't finish this series either...after spending close to 400 dollars renting like 200+ episodes of it, we decided to give up...it was just too much and i'm not just talking about money here...i didn't mind watching that series at first...but after awhile, it just got to me...they just kept bringing more people in, had them do bad thing(s), and then forgave them...i forced myself to watch up until the woman's son died (where he got shot by the police)...my mom was still watching it but she didn't want to spend that much money...had we rented the whole series, would have spent over 1600 dollars on it...lol...

Yeah me too,I know that Kennix have play in it. She have a twin sister I already think that she is beautiful. I also remember Nancy Sit bf Marvin and she call him "cat sh*t" or something like that

ahhhhh, i remember this one. My parents started watching this one religiously in the beginning, but it became so long that renting it and watching it everyweek began a chore. They eventually stopped without finishing the series.

just curious, how many episodes is this entire series anyway?

i think TVB purposely stop at this number because it's a good number.

I find this show one of the most heart warming series ever... and the best part is everyone ends up with someone! What's not so good in my opinion is that Da Li's sister, Xiao Mei in the end, got together with someone who is much older (though richer) than her. Thought she deserve someone better. The couple I like to watch best is the doctor and the vietnamese.. haha... thought they look very cute together.

Anyway itz a REALLY nice show... even if you watch from the middle, you'll not feel lost. In my opinion, itz even better than Jie Da Huan Xi.

omg it wouldnt even consider watching this series it's so freaken long..... it have so many actors, and actresses that it seems like it's a totally different movie from beginning middle and end..

what a classic series. i thought the cast was excellent, always changing, but revolving around a wide variety of people with different talents. i admit i've forgotten alot of the stories because it was so long and it dragged on for ages. but i think the parts i remember best is Harwick Lau stuck in the love triangle with Jun Jun and Joanne, that was great,becasue both set of couples looked good, but toards the end it started getting nasty. And at the bit with Kenix Kwok and how she got together with her hubby. It's a series i'll remember because the lessons it taught me and because the number of real life stories within the series, it was prety realistic for a series. But also because it was so long and I watched from beginning to end lolz.

i loved this show when they played it i forgot how long ago in spore. had to rush home everyday by 7pm to watch it! now they are still showing reruns every weekend and i still watch it! i love the story between ah gui and xiang hai, and lisheng and lin mei mei! and its so sweet to see lisheng and lin mei mei act together as a couple while knowing that they are a couple in real life! anyone knows how is their real relationship now? married already? dont tell me they broke off!

The part I remeber the most was when, Louisa So died, left behind a son and husband.

OMG that was so sad, I cried.

Everything else I pretty much forgot about.... Except for the Marco Lo cheating and someone was mad to eat dirt...... another sad and shocking part?

ah xue ended up with amnesia and left for US with her mum and dad. then after when jing chuan came into the picture, ah xue came back to hk to visit or smth. lisheng found out and wanted to see her but everyone objected. especially ah xue's dad (also one of hao yi's boyfriends but i forgot the name). then jingchuan got jealous or smth when she found out ah xue is bad and the lisheng-jing chuan relationship became quite bad. but somehow ah xue found out abt her relationship with lisheng(i forgot how), and in the end, they parted quite peacefully (i think) since she has a new boyfriend and he has jing chuan.
