I want to watch this drama (GOONG) very much as everyone is talking about it but I can't read or speak mandarin / korean!! I currently live in Singapore (River Valley Rd) and whilst out shopping, I found the dvd with english subtitle. As you guys know more about this dvd than I do, do you think the quality of the english subtitle is good enough? I'm going to Seoul very soon on biz, do you think I should buy the dvd from there and whether the dvd will offer eng sub? Thanks guys.

:] I really hope Kim Jeong Hoon (Yul) is in season 2! He's just too handsome.. xD lol and I loved him in Goong! This personality was so sweet... though his anger/selfish-ness made him kind of evil at the end.. but he redeem himself! He's just so.. prince like looking!

My American friend who has never heard, seen, etc.. of Goong or the actors.. when she was over and I showed her a picture of the Goong cast (The one in my favorites banner, with blue background).. without telling her about the plot, etc.. she looked at it and pointed at [KJH] and asked if he was a prince. Completely ignoring JJH. Lol...

Ya! Those 3 MUST be in it! Without them, the show totally wont be nic! I just hope that shin will take the place as KING! He's so hot! I love him and CG together. They make such a cute couple. I love it when they kissed during the goong 1. So much chemistry in it! I predict, they will make it big in the korean industry. xD

It says that the season 2 will be the story about a delivery boy who finds out that he is of imperial blood to become the new emperor. Princess Hyemyeong (Shin's sister) became empress at the end of season 1, but because matrilineal succession is forbidden, a male is needed to succeed the throne. So this guy is a distant cousin of Shin and Hyemyeong.

Then the story would become ridiculous, don't u think so? Why would they look for another heir when the rightful heir is very much alive. I thought it would be better if the sequel would be abt convincing Shin of taking back his responsibility, after giving him some space to taste the life of a commoner. It would more interesting to see how he realized what he could do for his people if he becomes a king. Anyway, how could one easily left his throne and responsibility? If that's the case I'm sure Prince William is a commoner by now And what abt Yul ? The way the story ended in Goong 1 is not really fair to him. I think they should justify what happen to him If it's gonna be abt someone else, they might as well make a new series with a new title not a sequel

继'宫1'之後,黄仁磊将继续执导'宫'的第二季.本月15号晚,黄仁磊在位於首尔梨太院的某事务室内接受了记者的采访,他表示目前正在为明年1-2月将要播出的'宫2'的准备工作而感到烦恼不已!


黄仁磊导演表示"'宫2'是一个全新的故事.该片讲述的是不知道自己拥有皇室血脉的男主角在明为'宫'的中国餐厅送外卖,是个生活在社会底层的人物,并後来进入皇宫後适应皇太子身份的过程.电视剧有很多喜剧元素,一句话来描述就是穷光蛋变成王的故事


黄仁磊导演接著表示""原来母亲那边的孩子是不能成为王的，所以故事是以第一部中慧明公主(李尹智)的孙子不能继承王位为起点展开的.'宫2'是从爱上庶民杨顺的哲宗的故事中找到主题,但是电视剧则将以圆满的结局收尾.而主角不是尹恩惠,我们现在正在寻找'男的尹恩惠'.'宫2'讲述的是街道皇室的召唤而入宫的男主角经过自己的努力登上王位的过程,故事时而搞笑,时而又能发人深思.


黄导演表示'宫1'的主演朱智勋,尹恩惠,宋智孝,金正勋等奖被全部替换.为了能保存季节制电视剧的连续性,黄导演曾决心沿用所有'宫1' 的主演,但是由於演员们只顾考虑自身的日程安排使得他无法实现心愿.因此黄导演在采访的过程中还曾吐露出对於演员们的不满心情.实际上出演过'宫1'的朱智勋,尹恩惠,宋智孝,金正勋等都是透过这部电视剧才走红的.


黄导演表示"金正勋是唯一愿意继续演出的演员,然而其馀演员全都表示不能演出,所以我认为也没有意义了,於是决定将四位主角全部替换,有的演员甚至都不接我电话.但是对我来说他们都像自己的孩子一样,我也没有什麽办法(笑~)."

在'宫2'的选角以及故事展开过程中,收获巨大成功的'宫1'可能与之形成竞争关系,对此黄导演表明了警惕的立场,他表示"许多'宫1'迷们纷纷表示'宫1'可能成为'宫2'的形成对手,因此克服这一点是最关键的.'宫1'迷们都猜想在'宫2'中会否出现前篇主角们身影,表达了对'宫1'的热爱.


黄导演表示目前正在为主角的人选发愁,不知道是该选用新人来饰演主角,还是该选用有一定名气的演员.现在来事务室试镜的演员非常多,多得都快把门槛挤破了,但是４名主角的人选将在中秋节之前做出决定,因为'宫2'将於10月中旬正式开拍,而现在该剧的剧本已经出到第4集.黄导演表示"'宫2'将补充好前篇中的不足之处.我们将向大家展现贵族阶层的真正义务,而电视剧布景和音乐的规模也将超过前篇.目前我们正在建造拍片场地,前篇中出现的主角们所上的艺术高中在'宫2'中将被皇室专用的学院所取代.後来才得知在古代'宫'是许多人出入并生活的地方,因此故事素材也很多,在准备'宫2'的过程中,我差不多制作了近100个剧本."以观众们的立场来看,今後'宫'将不只被制作成季节制电视剧,还有可能被制作成情景喜剧."


当天,黄导演还谈及了电视剧制片公司的现实情况,他表示"'宫1'尽管得到了广泛的喜爱,但是制片公司却没有获得太大的收益.直到最近与日本缔结了出口合约,这才艰辛地平衡的收支.本来电视台和制片公司应该以公平的立场一同合作,但是现实上是不太可能的.同时由於演员们的身价上涨等因素,恶劣的制作环境也很成问题.也不知道为什麽,制作了许多电视剧的制片公司反而钱赚得更少.正是由於这个原因,最近电视剧制作协会决定减少制片公司数量.大概只有市场规模最大的前10位制片公司能生存下来."


当面对记者"'宫'这部作品对於个人来说有著怎样的意义"的提问时,黄导演表示"电视台方面认为到了我这个年龄,执导的电视剧的收视率就会越来越低,而且我启用的全都是新人,所以许多人都曾感到担忧,但是在受到大众的瞩目後,这部电视剧最终成为了意义深刻的作品."

PD Hwang achieved success in early 2006 with new style Goong and encountered several problems during his preparations for Goong 2. He needs to overcome the extreme pressure resulting from Goong in order for Goong 2 to succeed.

He will be replacing the 4 leads Joo Ji Hoon, Yoon Eun Hye, Kim Jung Hoon, Song Ji Hyo. He had wanted original cast so that Goong 2 has continuity as a series but then everyone had their own timetable and did their own thing and he couldn’t achieve his wish. All 4 leads became overnight stars because of Goong. During the press conference,PD Hwang expressed dissatisfaction with some of the cast.

Only Kim Jung Hoon was able to confirm his participation but since the others said they could not join the cast, PD Hwang said there was no point. Some actors/actresses did not even answer his calls.

He’s now debating whether to recruit a totally new actor to act the role of the Chinese restaurant delivery boy who suddenly finds himself moving into the palace as a prince, or to get an experienced actor .. he’s looking for a male “Yoon Eun Hye” as there will be comical moments during his struggles to adjust to being a prince, but there will also be reflective moments. Goong 2 will tie up whatever loose ends from Goong 1. Some of the sets will be modified for the storyline and new sets will also be built and production costs will be on higher scale. The final cast will be announced in the coming autumn as production is starting in Oct.

The rest of the article talks about the commercial aspect and profit making concerns of the tv stations and that Korean production companies are not making enough profits, resulting in maybe the only top 10 such companies will be able to survive. There was concern about PD Hwang’s project due to his age and the fact that he used newbies, but he has managed to make Goong a great success.

I think WITHOUT the original cast, it's better change the name instead of using Goong 2 bcos everybody will thought it's really a continuous story from Goong 1, but we all know it's not the case. People will thinking why Shin & the rest suddenly disappear, it doesn't make sense. Same case like HZGG 3, change ALL the cast but with SAME name, as we know there's no 'plastic surgery' during that time. Anyway let's pray that all the news posted to be UNTRUE until MBC really really confirm the cast in 2 weeks time. But I think I don't put high hope on that matter. Too high the hope the greater disappointment!!!!!!

I think it would not be a nice sequel if all the main leads are not back for the show.. There would be no direct link to Goong 1. in that case, i see no point in continuing with Goong 2 already.

That sucks, I don't want to watch unless the original cast comes back. The new storyline sounds lame also. They should hold off production till the original cast can make time in their schedule.
