Gillian Fans Demand Official Apology For Photos Taken of Gillian Changing, Wednesday August 23, 2006 Hong Kong Options

Days ago, there had been a tabloid reporting the event of Gillian Chung changing when she was in Malaysia performing. It immediately led to a worldwide response. When seeing their idol have photos of her changing taken, Gillian fans have started an online petition named, 'Objecting of Illegal Invasion of Privacy Actions'; an official apology and a promise to not publish any other kind of similar information is demanded. Yesterday, when Mani Fok accepted a phone interview, she encouraged for everyone to protect the females.

As the reporting of taking photos while changing came out, besides leading to a big commotion in the ET industry, it also led to a great objection of the fans. It had been started by Gillian's fans; it's not of a fan club's name, but it is internationally collecting Gillian's fans and other citizens signatures. Besides having signatures from Hong Kong, Mainland, Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Korea, and other Asian areas, there are also countries overseas such as Australia, America, and Canada who have contributed signatures. From last night, there are already over 4000 signatures objecting to the actions of this tabloid.

As to Twins' manager, Mani Fok, she accepted a radio interview yesterday, When speaking of Gillian's issue, there had been a poll regarding how one views with Gillian having photos of her changing taken; the three answers were (A) Repugnant, (B) No Feeling, ( C ) Yelling At It While Reading It. Mani said, "I choose A! I feel a great deal of repugnance! Nowadays, it's like everyone's used to being secretly filmed! This time, it's not any ordinary kind of secretly filming. I've already sent out a legal warning letter to the tabloid!" Mani expressed that when the photos were exposed, EEG has already sent two extra workers to take care of Gillian. That day, Gillian was extremely upset; her face turned to be swollen after crying. Even her filming had to be stopped for half a day, so Mani apologizes to the filming crew. Because 'Let's Steal Together' has many actions scenes, Mani hopes that Gillian can feel better with her emotions soon because she doesn't want her to get hurt during the action scenes.

Mani has made an understanding with Genting, and they are investigating whether the changing room has a pinhole camera planted in or not. She expressed that workers always check the room very carefully, and she knows for a fact that the changing room is supposed to be locked at all times, so it is suspected that there may be an insider who did this. Everything is still being investigated, so Mani can't reveal too much. Mani has also had a word with the tabloid, she said, "I did ask them about it. (What'd they say?) There's nothing to lose in asking; they did give me an answer, but it's not convenient to reveal it. It's really still up to ourselves to investigate. Charlene was in the room at the time as well, but Gillian covered her, so they didn't get her. I am worried that there are other photos on their hands. Besides sending out legal warnings, we're also hoping to get the photos back just to decrease the pain of the artiste. I don't even dare to go visit Gillian in ShenZhen; I'm really afraid that she might cry if she sees me. The filming crew is going to get so angry if she cries again. (Did you contact help for the artistes?) Mr. Tsui Siu Ming did ask if I needed any help. I thank everyone for caring so much about Gillian. (Did the Protection of Female Rights Association contact you?) I'm sure many associations is aware of this situation. Twins actually advertise to helping children themselves; even though they aren't children, but females do need the protection. Hopefully, there'll be more advertisement on that part."

Also, Deep Ng and Vincy Chan were at a function yesterday. When speaking of Gillian's issue, Deep directly stated that these actions are completely against morality. Deep said, "I'm a guy, so I don't have to be that scared. But they're taking photos when someone's changing? The person who took the photos is no different than a rapist! There definitely is a problem with doing that!" Vincy said, "I feel afraid as well. Girls have to be extra careful. At my mini concert, it was dangerous for me to change as well because it was just a tent beside the stage. It's a great insult for females to take these photos. It now feels like it's not even safe to change inside. I've sent a SMS to console Gillian, but I didn't call her; it's very sensitive during this period of time."

I seriously hope that the reporter won't post them all over the net or something....It sounds like Gillian is upset...this may affect her in a lot of different ways. Deep is right, the person who took the photo is a rapist....who in the right mind would take pictures of someone changing?

I've just read this article on the newspaper today. I'm not much of a crazy fan of hers, but I can say I BLEW UP when I read it.

I can't believe the tabloids really have gone that far. The petition probably won't get anywhere, but it is a show of support for Gillian and Charlene. They'll gain more confidence and will pull through this whole insidious event. TWINS FANS UNITE!

Gillian having pictures taken of her has caused her to be in the hotspot these couple of days. I agree that those people are seriously crossing the line. Taking pictures of people changing? Even if it wasn't a idol that was being pictured I think legal actions would still be taken.
