![]() Host: Stephen Chan Chi Wan Summary: "Be My Guest" is a show created by Stephen Chan himself, who was once a senior government official and a famous radio program host. He is now General Manager at TVB. In every episode he conducts an in-depth interview with one famous star who reveals his or her secrets while having dinner. Guests: Episode 1: Connie Chan Bo Chu Episode 2: Dodo Cheng Episode 3: Kelly Chen Episode 4: Andy Lau Episode 5: Joey Yung Episode 6: Eric Tsang (Part 1) Episode 7: Eric Tsang (Part 2) Episode 8: Hacken Lee (Part 1) Episode 9: Hacken Lee (Part 2) Episode 10: Lydia Shum Episode 11: Jan Lamb and Eric Kot Episode 12: Leo Ku Episode 13: Dina Leung Episode 14: Eason Chan Episode 15: Liza Wang Episode 16: Miriam Yeung Episode 17: Donald Tsang (Chief Executive of Hong Kong) Episode 18: Michael Hui Episode 19: Adam Cheng Episode 20: Ekin Cheng Episode 21: Anthony Wong Episode 22: Kenny Bee Episode 23: Jenny Tseng Episode 24: Jimmy Lai Official website: http://www.tvb.com/tvb_lifestyle/bemyguest...0923/index.html -- I just watched one episode where the host interviewed Kelly Chen and he is god damn nosey as hell!!! He was interrogating her like crazy about her family, love life and all. He kept asking every question you could ask like you did not have a life! Like how old is your older sis, where does she work at, is she single, do you live with her, how close are you guys,...the BASICS of who, what, where, when, how!!! LOL. I was like, "Poooor Kelly!!!It's like she is running out of answers or trying to find an excuse not to answer." And he was like, "Answer...don't be shy! You have to let it out and all!" Is the restaurant where the interview is set at also his restaurant or is just some random restaurant they picked for different interviews??? Apart from the High school themed interview...the dishes looked so YUMMY!!! This post has been edited by forever_autumn: Nov 15 2006 5 52 PM |

QUOTE(GateauCakes @ Aug 28 2006 7 25 AM) I just watched one episode where the host interviewed Kelly Chen and he is god damn nosey as hell!!! Like how old is your older sis, where does she work at, is she single, do you live with her, how close are you guys,...the BASICS of who, what, where, when, how!!! LOL. Is the restaurant where the interview is set at also his restaurant or is just some random restaurant they picked for different interviews??? Apart from the High school themed interview...the dishes looked so YUMMY!!! Well, the point of these interviews are to get more in depth with the artist. The host asked more than just their careers but also their families, their past, etc. I admit the one with Kelly wasn't very good because it seems like he kept repeating the same questions. But I watched several episodes and some are quite good. The one with Do Do was interesting because I learned how she got into the business and why she doesn't plan on getting married and whether she had cosmetic surgery. The one with Joey was also very good. She talked about how when she first started she was rejected by Paco Wong (the famous agent of Leo Ku, Miriam, Justin Lo...). She joked that it was his loss. She also talked about her feelings about winning more awards. I can't believe she still has like 9 years contract with EEG. She said she would not sing anymore after her contract is up, she wants to do other things. Sorry about the rambling, I guess my point is it sometimes depend on the questions and the guest. |

Yeah, this program is more serious and more private. Its a show where you get more in depth information on the particular celebrity. No promoting oneself, their albums, or their movies, strictly personal. I heard that Stephen Chan (the host) asks brutal questions. But do it like Eason...ask him some hard to answer questions back.
QUOTE(kenji1234 @ Aug 28 2006 11 40 AM) The one with Joey was also very good. I can't believe she still has like 9 years contract with EEG. She said she would not sing anymore after her contract is up, she wants to do other things. 9 years? Wow, I think she was desperate for a contract if she signed a 12+ year deal with one company. Sorry it sounds so bad but I can't find another word for desperate, but at the end of the day, she made a good decision because she is well known. |

Will be watching Joey Yung ... interview/special dinner, coming this Sunday .. I can't wait !!
I do like watching this be my guest, interview/special dinner, programme. After Joey Yung, it shall be Eric Tsang, after him, it will shall be Hacken Lee, after him, it shall be Sum Tin Ha, as in Lydia Sum ............. etc and etc .... After Eason, it shall be Wang Ming Chun, as in Liza Wang. This interview with Liza Wang, will be showing coming this Saturday 9th September 2006 .. only HK TVB, not UK TVB. Because UK TVB channel is soooooo far behind from Liza Wang's interview ... but we will eventually get to watch it, in the UK TVB channel !!! |

QUOTE(lucky_star @ Sep 5 2006 6 38 PM) Can anybody list down the guests so far chronologically? 1. Chan Bo Chu 2. Do Do Cheng 3. Kelly Chen 4. Andy Lau ---> His answers were very weird. You can tell the host didn't understand what he was talking about and just kept nodding his head. 5. Joey Yung ---> To the above poster, Joey actually signed a 15 years contract when she first joined EEG. it's been 6 years, so 9 more to go. If you are new, record companies want to lock you in case you get famous and wants to jump ship. Of course, if you don't get famous, they can terminate the contract and release you. 6. Eric Tsang ---> Not bad, but he talks way tooo much (guess that's why they split it into 2 parts). It was sad when he mentioned the passing of one of his best friends, Anita Mui.... 7. Eric Tsang (Part 2) 8. Hacken Lee 9. Hacken Lee (Part 2) 10. Lydia Sum 11. Soft Hard 12. Leo Ku 13. Dik Na 14. Eason Chan 15. Liza Wang 16. Miriam Yeung |

Yeah, that does make sense especially with EEG. I assume Nicholas Tse also signed one of those long contracts because he's still there a couple of more years. But the weird thing is that Edison's contract was up, if I'm not mistaken. I think as artists, especially newcomers, you really don't have much of a choice because you want to get signed but I still think you should consider getting signed for under 10 years (at most) because 10+ years with a company you may not like after the first couple of years is not fun. |

I wonder if anyone watches this, the thread seems to be pretty dead. Two episodes have passed since the last post, Michael Hui 許冠文 appeared on the last episode (#18) and Adam Cheng Siu Chau appeared on episode 19, which aired on Oct. 7th (last Saturday). According to the official website, the next guest to appear will be Ekin Cheng and apparently he'll be interviewed on his romance with Yoyo Mung.

I love watching this. It's like somewhoe Stephan can get these famous actors to reveal their real emotions and provoke them and you actually see that they're just human also. Like how he made Eric Tsang cry, I've never seen him cry ever and he's super famous and not your typical crying guy. I think this show really show the true self of these actors even tho I thought Joey was still kinda fake but at least you get to see the other side to these people and that the questions are sooo out of line I'm surprised they actually answer them and I bet you some are honest answers.

i think this show is pretty enjoyable to watch, this guy at least does get pretty famous ppl on his show and gets them to talk about themselves - probably because of his position, but hey who cares. too bad his Q's and interviewing style isn't always very interesting. sometimes there really is no chemistry at all between him and the person he interviews.

Let's face it, Barbara Walters he is not. But, it's cool to watch the artists open up about themselves and talk about their private lives. For people who thought the this show is boring probably saw the ones with boring guests like Kelly Chen and Andy Lau because they didn't open up at all.
Do watch the eposides with Kenny Bee, Nat Chan, Anthony Wong, and Eason Chan because they were honest with their answers. I want to see the one with Dodo Cheng and Hacken Lee and Eric Tsang. Does anyone know where I can found them? Thanks. |

Everytime I see him, I get so irritated.
I have never seen a General Manager who loves the camera as much as him. He seizes every chance to put himself in front of a camera (TV or Picture). He won't even let go of the job of VO. You are already a General Manager. Leave the interview and VO jobs to those who really need it!! OT:Virginia is also another one. Before these two came along, I hardly saw the "heads" of TVB. At most it was Catherine Tsang who came out for the artists only. Notice how only the recently promoted artists will thank Stephen and Virginia. Catherine is the one that EVERYONE thanks because she's the one who actually helping them along the way-supporting them and fighting for them ; especially those that aren't "Favored" by Virigina. I don't like the host...He's just like a rat...that smile on his face the whole time, makes me sick. I think nobody likes him personally, but he is a TVB "big guy" or something like that, so ppl have to be nice to him.
Yeah, let Dodo Cheng or some other prof host do the interviews... This post has been edited by UltraJet: Feb 13 2007 12 42 PM |

They make it sound like he's a good interviewer that will ask you good questions and get the answer out from you. But thats not true, he's like any other ordinary host. When you are sitting one on one with someone and you ask them a question, its not like they can avoid it. The only way to avoid it is by answering it with a question or a different subject. Which in most cases, doesn't happen. So its not that these artists are willing to open up to him, these artists don't have a choice because they can't act like they don't hear or understand the question.
Someone like Eric Tsang or Dodo Cheng are good interviewers. In one on one situtations, they are proven to be better interviewers. They know how to ask a question so that the artist can't avoid it. For example, they don't ask questions out of the blue and like it's scripted (like Stephen Chan does,) instead they find spots to ask, like when the artist is answering a question they'll chime in with a more personal question. |

So far, I've watched Anthony Wong, Anita Yuen, Jenny Tseng, Kevin Cheng, SoftHard and Nat Chan's interviews.
My favourites are Anthony's and Anita's interview. They are so straightfoward and honest and they way they talk makes the interview very fun to listen to. Jenny Tseng and Nat Chan's one are also good. They are also very honest and bold in their reply. Softhard's one is ok. Kevin's one is rather boring since he took a lot time to answer a question and seems very guarded in his answers. |

this show is kind of boring because of the people he interviews. most of them are older and some i don't even know who the hell they are. he should interview the younger "famous" people nowadays. and yes, he is kn own to be straightforward, therefore he asks a lot of questions that may seem quite nosey. I just find the parts where they introduce the food to be very disconnected. it has no tie-in to the show or interviews. if he would interview people that are more "now", then i would watch it more often

This show is alright. It all depends on the "guest" as well as the host. I only watch the episodes of the celebrities I like so if you don't like a particular guest, don't bother watching it. I think some of the guests answers were quite honest whereas some are guarded as some others had mentioned. I've learned some things about certain celebrities which I didn't know of from watching this show so yeah, it's not bad.
