it seems that many artiste have been judged by their roles they played in shows. For example Qiao Qiao for the role of Xiao Bei in AQMFS or Myolie Wu for any "annoying", "irritating" roles that she played. i find that is kinds mean and shallow because after all the characters is not even real and is not part of the artiste's personality. if everone starts hating the artiste who plays the bad girl and the bad guy, then no artiste will be willing to play these characters cause they are scared that they will lose their popularity. any show without any baddies will not be fun to watch anymore.
if i were to hate the artistes for the role they played, i will have hatred Flora Chan for her role in Triumph In The Skies, Charmaine Sheh in her role in A Herbalist Affair and Xiao Qiao in her role in The Champion and Prince Turns Frog, but surprisng i like all of them! i used to hate Michelle Yip for her role in LWVB, but after watching TITS, i start to like her again. i realise that each artiste has put in effort for all their portrayal of the characters and even though we do not like the characters, it is not fair to pass the judgement to the artiste who played them, right? just my two cents worth. |

this recently i'm watching a drama series from ATV. so far, the only character that i don't like is lei siu wan(don't know her real name) in FONG DE AND MIU CHUI FA. it's quite ridiculous. either the scriptwriter problems or what. anyway, my dad said is the way they prolong the series.no matter what still don't like it.

hehehe good question. I wouldn't hate the artist, because if we hate the character that means that the actor/actress is playing good the role. Is usual that there's some people that hate them, but what they exactly hate is the character.

I tend to LOVE actors who can make me hate them.
I really don't like one-dimensional bad characters. I like the ones that keep you guessing whether they're good or evil and keep crossing back and forth over that line. I love the ones that you understand their motivations, and even though you don't agree with what they're doing, you can sympathize with them. So if the bad character is that well written and acts it well, I usually have a lot more respect for them than the lead actors of the drama/movie/TV show, etc. ~Tiffiany~ |

Used to when I was little for weird reasons (and didn't know better) but now I realize how good some of those villian roles are or how they were able to portray those character to the degree that you think they're that character.
I agree with Tiffany_45 that the ones that kept you guessing are more interesting. Their complex personalities keep you wondering of their action and the reasoning behind it. Also, their conflicting thoughts at times, etc. It's actually interesting to see how the actor(s)/actress(es) chosen portray those types of roles also. Sonjia Kwok! The first few series I saw her in she was absolutely hateful so that totally clouded my judgement of her. Also, she looks whiny.

haha, I got to say I dislike Vivian Hsu when I saw her in the serie with Vic, but now I just laughed at myself for disliking her because I can't even remember the name of the serie. It just one of those things that is funny. I still remember I just don't like her character in there. No matter how much people tell me something to try to convince me I was not listening. However after all these years, I respect her for her music and seeing some of her interviews are really honest!

lol actually I did. I disliked Kenneth Ma when he played Hugo in the first installment of D.I.E. Can't stand two-timers.
I don't care if he looked hot with the shades... much. |
