This drama was aired from May 21st 2006, to September 24th, 2006. on CTV, with 19 broadcasted episodes. Its theme song is Jing Jing De(Silently) by Harlem Yu, and its ending theme is Shou Xi De Wen Rou(Familiar Gentleness) by Vic Zhou Yu Min.  Cast: Vic Zhou as Qi Wei Yi  25 years old, intelligent, talented, excells in all areas. The confident Wei Yi has always believe that there's no "misfortunes" in the world, there's only "not try hard enough." Because of this, he's so strict on others that he's almost merciless. This is until his doctor tells him that he has liver cancer with only 3 months to live and when he meets Zhao Shen Shen again. Wei Yi slowly changes because of Shen Shen and lives the last days of his life nicely. Gradually he understands the meaning of pursuing life and love. Park Eun Hye as Zhao Shen Shen  23 years old, Chinese-Korean, in an accident she loses her ability to speak. But this didn't bring complete misery, but instead it helped her to better understand how to use her heart to listen to and understand others. She didn't give up because of her mishaps and you can't see the inferiorities of disabled people in her. She substituted it with honesty and optimism. Though she can't speak, but the "love" in her heart is more intense than anyone else. Megan Lai as Mi Xiao Guang  Wei Yi's fiancee, serious, competent, independent, wants to use her abilities to have a breakthrough achievement in her career and prove her strength. Although there aren't many feelings between her and Wei Yi but they have a steady tacit understanding of each other. When Wei Yi suffers from cancer and dismisses their engagement, she couldn't help but reconsider what "love" is. Andy Hui as Zuo Jun  27 years old. When he was young he was rebellious and playful, harming Shen Shen to become mute in an accident. Although on the surface it seems that Zuo Jun refuses to admit he's wrong, inside he holds himself responsible. To make up for his wrongdoing, he decides to protect Shen Shen from any kind of harm and unconsciously falls in love with Shen Shen. He's convinced that he's the only one who can give her happiness.  Synopsis Zhou Shen Shen loses her voice after a bus accident and gets taken to the hospital by her friend Zuo Jun(who blames himself for making her mute) there she meets Qi Wei Yi a boy who leg got broken by jealous peers. He finds a letter she had put in a bomb shelter wall. They leave each other letters and promise to come back in the Christmas of 2006. They become good friends and fall in love but Wei Yi is unaware that Shen Shen is mute. When he has to leave before her, He gives her his phone number and tells her to call him. Years pass and in the year of 2006 they met again but is unaware of who each other is until Wei Yi finds out he has liver cancer and is dying So he decides to go back to the hospital he went to as a child and he finds out that Shen Shen is his childhood love but not wanting to hurt her when he dies he hides his identity and eventually pushes her away. I got to say that for me... the best acting scene of Vic here, well besides all the stomach aches he had which is really good... was the part where he saw the paper with his name and number which shen shen was taping.... there was not much movement but only his eyes expressed everything he felt at that time...like shock, regret, gladness but also with sadness...everything was in his eyes in that particular scene...that was just my observation...I observed it late though... |

hmm.. lol i never really got to finish it @_@;;
my friend said it was one of the few taiwanese dramas she ever finished (bcoz she's bad at taiwanese and no subs that time~) and that it was pretty okay but... Y-Y i'm such a disgrace lol.. maybe it's the cast or something that makes me dislike it... *sigh* and megan is AGAIN the third person in a vic drama relationship =_-' yeah well.. someday i'll finish it ^__^; |

I think that the thing tat makes this drama so memorable is because of the ending. Usually when series have a sad or a powerful ending like this one, it leaves more of a impact on them. Although I would have loved it if he didn't die, but yea..like i said, i think tat is wat makes me still remember it.

If given the chance to revise the script, I would make this drama a happy-ending, of course. I'm a sucker for a happy ending stories. I know this one is a sad one still I watched it mainly because of Vic Z.

Well, I already like the ending of Silence....I don't wanna change it.....
Though it made me really sad, but if Wei Yi didn't die, it would be very unrealistic.... I agree with yanyan2003....The ending made the drama more memorable....It is something that we could bring out and talk about...If he didn't die, the lesson of the series would not be as strong.... |

i just finished watching silence!!! even tho the series was a bit draggy...and slow....i still liked it!
hmmm zaizai again proved his acting skills..the scenes were his stomach was hurting was done rly well, lol megan lai is in here again as the rejected girl, but again, she acts out her characters perfectly. park hye eun (sp?) was a rly good actress, and acted out zhao shenshen well overal, the series was pretty good, but not at the spectacular level. i'm glad the ending was how it was, or else it'd be lame. even tho the ending left some questions unanswered, such as xu li, parent's divoce another thing is...carolyn chen is a rly good actress. her role in silence and cwl is completely opposite, and she did both perfectly. good job to her This post has been edited by iceeblaze: Jul 26 2007 4 47 AM |

This is one of my favorite series cause it's really worth watching. Zaizai has improved a lot and he's also more handsome in this series than when i first saw him in Meteor Garden. I also like Park Eun Hye. They look really cute together. Though the ending is sad, I still enjoy watching this series and I recommend it for everyone to watch.

hello everyone!
I just finished the last episode of silence....and I'm still crying  ...This is just THE saddest drama I've ever watched....why oh why did it have to end that way? I'm a serious drama addict. I've watched over 40 of them but this one just tore my heart apart...I mean, I am used to sad dramas and unhappy endings...but seriously... I loooove park eun hye and this is my first time seeing Vic Zhou's acting...they made the perfect couple in this drama. The chemistry was simply amazing...

i loved Silence. even though the ending was sad, it wouldn't be one of the best series if he didn't. if you want a great drama with happy ending, go watch Mars. although it's on the dark side and not really comedy.

Yes, I love silence so much, the story how it evolved, so sad but one thing I like about the story is that the lead character which zai acted, was able to correct his mistake, he was humble and very sincere. Zai's acting is superb, very believable, I cried thru out the film everytime he's in pain. I feel sorry also for her mom there. I developed hatred towards the father.I like the comedy part of yellow's sister hehehehehe!!! she's so cute too. Yellow is also great.

I just finished this series. I felt that it was an okay series although the acting in this series is really good. It felt dragged out for me. I don't know what to think of the ending. My first reaction was that's it? I wish they did a better job of tying things end especially with the minor characters. Like Megan Lai and yellow??? or the father? and andy hui???

i love this drama, vic 's acting improve a lot....his acting make me amazed coz i havent thought that his acting can improve like that...and park eun hye is so cute in this drama, i like her all skirts^^.
i love all the scence when sheh sheh and wei yi live together, the way which they show their love is very cute^_^, i love it. Poor wei yi, he s so cute, why can he die so young T_____T? i dont want this drama ending like that, i want wei yi still lives with shehsheh, and they will have a happy life until two of them are old. oh i like the song which sheh sheh sing by using her gesture on beach. She sings when wei yi look at her and smile happily. do anyone know the name of this song? plz help me, i really like this song, thank u^^ |

VIC ZHOU's performance in this series was superb!
I almost forgot that he was just acting and that I was just watching a drama when I cried buckets of tears in this series. Though the ending was sad, It was realistic and it made this drama a memorable one. I actually love all the scenes may it be the Happy ones or the sad ones. |

Silence was amazing beyond words. The story was very touching! T _T @_@ Zai Zai was HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!!! I love his hair so much in this series. >3 I watched it quite a while ago, but I still remember most of it very clearly. (: Oh, and ---- just sharing a few loopholes I found in the process of watching: 1) In Episode 6, Wei Yi was revealed to have liver cancer and was told that he only had 3 months left to live. However, 10 Episodes later (or more) when he was living with Shen Shen on the top floor of Yellow's apartment, he still had 3 months left. (recall the plant Wei Yi was given that grows flowers in 3 months) o_o;; Shouldn't at least 1 month have passed by then? 2) How could Shen Shen NOT know the name of the C.E.O. of a huge company?? I mean, doesn't Wei Yi ever come up in newspapers or TV or the radio?? And also .... Wei Yi already has her phone number and sends text messages to her ALOT. Doesn't his name ever show up in the display???? Shen Shen catches on waaayy too slow! I felt there were 23750982365239 moments where she should have found out that Wei Yi was "shi gao jiao" (cast leg), but she didnt. @_@ 3) Zuo Jun technically was the cause of Shen Shen's mom's death as well, anyone agree? Because .. in Episode 1, it was said that Shen Shen's mom got into a car accident when she was riding her bicycle to the hospital to deliver Shen Shen lunch, and if Shen Shen was never in the accident because of Zuo Jun making her skip school ... nothing should've happened. But then again, she would never meet Wei Yi then. > _< 4) Shen Shen was holding the piece of paper with Wei Yi's phone number for a LOONNNNGGGG time and staring at it. Shouldn't she have remembered the phone number by then? xD One of the most touching and beautiful love stories EVER. omg i just started to watch this and augh, this is so freaking good. i think i am starting to fall in love all over again with vic! augh...
and i had no idea that she was korean at all, i mean i had a feeling, but then wow.. its so sad, there are quite a lot of selfish people in this show, who makes me pretty pissed. only up to episode 9 though ....sad...great OST by the way...well in the drama the soft music is my favorite. haven't heard the ost yet. |

yeah... silence is great *_* my favorite scene was.... im not sure ......i have lots of favorite scenes .... i think every scene where you can see vic and park eun hye together.. they had amazing chemistry... and the last episode was so sad T__T i cant decide which scenes i like most >.< but i know which secene i hate most xD ... when zuo jun got in a car accident on purpose just because he wants to seperate shen shen and wei yi... his action piissed me off |

Silence was broadcasting on tv and I decided to give it a try. I am so addicted to it at the moment. Unfortunately they only air 2 episodes a week
 I really love this show. Everything about it is so beautiful, the scenery, the story and the characters. I am totally in love with Vic right now. He's like a prince, rich and handsome. Park Eun Hye is doing a great job too I love watching sign language.The only bad thing about Silence is Andy Hui, I don't really like him or his character. |

Found this fantastic Silence screencap plus commentary that I found in a blog. I really love this drama and got bowled over by ZZ's gorgeous looks and superb acting there. So here’s recalling HOW ADDICTIVE ZZ was in Silence : Excerpt of post by hope-fuleigh at livejournal (2nd Sept 2006) Read the full post here : http://hope-fuleigh.livejournal.com/59007.html#cutid1 ……………Silence is about a girl who can't talk and a rich boy she met in the hospital right after she was in a terrible bus accident that robbed her of her voice (oh, and her mother dies right afterwards). They become good friends, passing notes to each other, blah blah blah, but he eventually goes away (leaving her only his phone number - even though she doesn't talk, demonstrating how incredibly intelligent he is NOT) and their young love is doomed forever. Fastforward to 2006, and they run into each other again and there is hatred, arguing, snarky banter (although one is through writing and signing) and gruffly tryng to bite back smiles (hee!) So, that's all well and good. But Silence isn't REALLY about that. What the series really is about are the many ways that Vic Zhou can look alternately pretty, angsty and intimidatingly HOT. I was watching it, thinking it was okay - cute, kinda light-hearted, but I didn't think I was going to get sucked in. And oh dear God, I got sucked in. Allow me to detail to you, with pic-spammy examples, exactly how my brain is completely owned by this new series. This is his grumpy "what have I gotten myself into" face:  After Shen Shen carries out the evil revenge we saw her plotting earlier, he catches her and tells her to get into the car so he can take her to the police station. This is a picture of him trying to be intimidatingly sexy as he leans over to buckle her seat belt:  This is him trying to be DEVILISHLY sexy.  It's totally working. At this point, I was definitely trying not to "EEE" out loud, because holy crap! This part made me giggle-squee. You can't actually see it because the cap is fuzzy, but he's playing with his tie, acting devilishly sexy and trying not to giggle ALL AT THE SAME TIME!  He leans over to whisper in her ear and I AM GONE:  Thoroughly amused with himself for being so devilishly sexy and intimidating while at the same time, finding Shen Shen's reactions to his overtures, he tries to bite back a BOYISH GRIN:  Here, he tries to hide the BOYISH GRIN by acting all gruff. Notice the attempt to look pensive, and the frowning:  This is a moment when our long-lost OTP look into each other's eyes, and the dramatic music cues up and you are supposed to think that they might actually recognize each other. At least that's what they want you to think, but really, it's just an excuse to shoot a close up of Vic Zhou looking pensive and hot:  See? More pensive hotness:  This is a shot of him acting cocky and non-serious as he tells her he's going to leave her on the hill to walk back into town. He's SO bluffing, you can tell by the charming facial expression, which is produced by his attempts to appear devishlish conflicting with the urge to laugh:  And here, we have the BOYISH GRIN That Did Hope In and Made Her a Silence junkie. He's no longer biting back the smile, because she has already flounced away and he finds her so incredibly amusing, this whole encounter with the spunky girl who can't speak was so amusing, he can't help but actually SMILE for the first time all episode:  And THAT is how Hope became addicted to Silence. A wonderful ZZ and Silence fan, siewleng found all these Silence BTS/ NG scenes. And she even did a summarized translation of each video.

Part 1 http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do...amp;iid=4377900 Beginning was the intro about SILENCE...Further on seeing Cai Je explaining why this drama was called SILENCE and the friendshipness that ZZ,Shen Shen and all the crew gained from this drama..Although it's tiring but all of the crew was very happy to know each others and was coping very well although Shen Shen came from different country...Communications was never a barrier to them...U could see ZZ,Shen Shen and Jor Juen having a Question and Answer section where each of them are required to answer quetions given by others with their own feelings...ZZ mentioned that if ZZ himself really gotten this sickness and left 3months to live,he will never tell anyone about it and handle to situation by himself untill really can't stand it anymore then only he will look for his best friend and inform him/her about his problem..ZZ said this drama perfectly describe ZZ own personality as he is very much alike Chi Wei Yi.... (means very tired) Part 6 http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do...amp;iid=4404066 Now this is an unforgetable kissing scene that we will never forget where ZZ and Shen Shen was pretending to celebrate an early White Christmas outside ZZ house with snowy ice falling down from along with the beautiful christmas tree decorated with colourful lights....But did u know that actually those so-called 'snowy ice' was made from chemical and taste awful and smelly too...Imagine ZZ and Shen Shen have to kiss with those chemical keep falling on to their face,body and lips! Part 7 http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do...amp;iid=4428144 This is the most touching part of all the NG's part i have seen....1st it was ZZ and Shen Shen at the airport saying goodbye,ZZ was funny there...Remember the scene where ZZ rescue Ah Han,ZZ mentioned that he never knew it's so hard to rescue a boy as the lake was so deep and ZZ consider himself as good in swimming also having difficulties swimming inside the lake...Lucky ZZ was OK at the end!Then again ZZ at the lake falling into the lake after being rejected by Shen Shen...(U could see how many people rushed up to help ZZ once ZZ falls into the lakeside,proof they care ZZ very much neh!)...And the most heart pain scene seen here where after Shen Shen confess to ZZ and said 'Wo Ai Ne'...ZZ drop into the swimming pool NG's for 33times!My god!Zai are U ok?Poor ZZ!And the last part where ZZ hold his breath inside the bathtub...Dir wanted to see how long ZZ could stand without breathing inside the bathtub and guess what?ZZ can hold his super looong breath for 117seconds! Crew joked said that ZZ past life must be a FISH! Part 8 http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do...amp;iid=4428264 This part tells us about their feeling filming in Ching Dou....ZZ said he was happy to work with Shen Shen and Jor Juen....Notice at 2.00min Shen Shen make a sign language to ZZ calling ZZ 'Pen Dan' (means Foolish Boy)...ZZ was so ke-ai neh!And lots more of the funny scenes u could see... Part 9 http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do...amp;iid=4428395 Behind the scene footage....meaning in some part of the scene there were two version of it..1st it was where ZZ and Shen Shen coming out of the restaurant raining and ZZ took off his coat to cover Shen Shen together ran over to their own cars..From this clips U could feel ZZ eyes looking very deeply at Shen Shen,this part has been change because they felt ZZ shouldn't be looking at Shen Shen like that as it was too early to fall in love with Shen Shen...2nd was the song 'The Sound of Silence' sang by Shen Shen using her sign language at the park as ZZ asked Shen Shen to sing...3rd was the scene with Jor Juen at the hospital after knewing Shen Shen has disappeared...Originally the location should be inside the hospital room but was change to the corridor later as they felt ZZ and Jor Juen looks like enemy inside the room....And the 4th was where ZZ was punched by Jor Juen..... Part 10 http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do...amp;iid=4428813 These clips filled with various NG's scene taken throughout the dramas....Very funny and hilarious!Must see too ya.... Part 11 http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do...amp;iid=4428960 This clips isn't about the NG's scene but Cai Je promoting this dramas as this drama SILENCE is a very good drama...She mentioned that some of her friends after seeing this dramas raises staff salary and even one of her friend purposely called his boyfriend and did not talk at all when her boyfriend pick up his fone,then his boyfriend said 'If u are Chao Shen Shen,double tap on the fone'.... I could only say that this is one of the most memorable drama i have ever seen so far and also my love for ZZ starts from here.....  This drama has given me a lot of feelings and experience..I learn to care my family more and often remind myself not to take things so seriously....This drama made me grew up to be more matured and learn to handle things evenly.....silence siewleng..............
