Synopsis
John Fok (Eason Chan) is the kingpin of illegal red oil in Greater China. When an oil tanker explodes accidentally, he becomes the focus of investigation by Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese police and is forced to halt his business to wait things out. While his business rivals start closing in, a member of his household is planning to betray him. On the surface, John seems totally helpless, but in reality, he's been staging a major comeback for months. Just as he is finally ready to turn his fortune around, however, his only son is kidnapped!

Senior Inspector Molline Szeto (Sammi Cheng) is the rising star in the police force, who is well praised for busting crime with her characteristic sangfroid and precision. However, in matters of love, she is totally at wit's end. After dating the same man for more than ten years with no likely prospect of an imminent wedding, she determines to cut the knot once and for all, before she becomes too old for childbirth. Poised at the crossroad of her life, she is thrilled to be assigned to investigate the kidnap of John's son.

John dispatches his whole gang to ferret out his son's whereabouts, only to find out that his rivals are redeploying people in China to assail him. Just when he is about to order an all-out fightback, Molline suddenly arrives with her team to garrison at his house. Spurning her at first, he soon finds her critical analysis of the situation at hand both apt and useful. An unlikely cooperation between cops and crooks thus ensues, leading to conflicts and clashes galore at every step till the very end.

been waiting for a new Sammi movie for A LONG TIME!! but that wig she has on is kind of weird looking.

The trailer is nicely done, but I thought the movie was more comedy..I guess not? And can't really picture Eason as a mobster. AND they NEED to change the English title of the movie.

Some other stuff I remember reading about the film:

- Kate Tsui is in this..
- Richie Ren has a cameo, playing LOL a gigolo..

The movie undoubtedly will be a box office smash..hmm it's gonna return Sammi to her HK Box Office Queen status after Everlasting Regret tarnished that a bit.

Michelle Ye also plays Eason's wife.

I thought there was going to be some sort of relationship going on between Eason & Sammi, so I don't know how that's going to work. Unless there isn't a relationship between them other than working to get his son back.

I think the trailer is good also. And I will love to see Sammi as an cop, and Eason looks utterly convincing as a kingpin in the trailer!

Actually I believe Sammi mentioned in an interview before that there isn't a love relationship btw Eason and her. Eason is married while Sammi has a steady boyfriend in it, Conroy Chan.

And Kate being in this big release really does mean her movie career is on the rise...

Yeah, hoping for a Sammi x Eason duet but more likely it will be Sammi alone since she is the main main character.

This looks like an exciting movie. Michelle loooks soooo pissed off. Michelle and Eason playing a couple is pretty refreshing, very curious to see how it plays out.

The themesong for "Lady Cop & Papa Crook" is out! no duet for Eason & Sammi. A solo song by Sammi and it's a fast song.



Can't wait for the movie!! Looks like Kate has a rather big role? I would think less scenes than Michelle Ye.

A new release date has been set for this film -- January 1, 2009.

Sad to say, I think this film won't be as successful as it could've/will be if they released it after their promotions or they didn't start promoting it until they set a real release date. That being said, I do think the film will still be a success especially with it being Sammi's comeback film. But I do think that releasing the trailer and doing promo for it wayyyyyyyy ahead of it's release date really killed the anticipation. Trailers are meant to entice and if one waits too long they might lose interest.

I watched this on saturday and gotta say really dissappointed. I thought it would be good - but it wasnt that great. But good to see sammi back and also like the theme song to this film too.
