[Ta Kung Pao 14/11/04]

TVB is working in conjunction with Yan Chai Hospital to raise money by selling charity cookies and the opening ceremony was held yesterday in Olympian City where many artistes and Miss Hong Kong representatives were present to lend their support, including Bernice Liu, Anne Heung, Kate Tsui, Fu Sze Sze, Tang Wing Chi, Nam Yik Pong and Wong Hing.

Kate was asked to take the cookie tin out of the bag to pose for a photograph, but she clumsily dropped the tin on the floor and daren't bend over to pick it up, leaving her rather embarrassed. During the cookie sale, she secretly placed $500 into the box and took some cookies to present to her fans. She explained that her fans were there with their paper signs to support her and had spent all their money on making the signs and did not have any money to buy the cookies, so she decided to buy them some cookies to repay them. Is she worried that she does not have enough money with her just launching her career? Kate says that she is fine for now.

Bernice said whilst selling the cookies that she wants to buy a few tins to take back to her colleagues at TVB and was asked whether she would buy some for Moses. She replied: "You buy it, I won't buy it for him!" Bernice has been busy rehearsing for the anniversary performances recently and she says that she will be wearing 'pantyhose' suits with Raymond for their routine. When asked if Raymond would be 'showing off his bumps' whilst in the skintight suit, Bernice laughs that she does not know, because they have not tried their costumes yet. However, to keep fit, she will not be buying him any cookies! When asked if she is worried about revealing too much of her body wearing the costume, Bernice says that she will wear plenty of protective clothing underneath the suit.

Last year, Bernice won a car and there was also an apartment on offer, but there are rumours that in order to cut down on budget this year, TVB will not be giving away a car, but just putting up a cash prize as the top reward. Bernice feels that it doesn't matter what the prizes are as long as there are some then people will be happy. She won a car last year and she is still driving it, so she does not plan to sell it because she wants to keep her luck with her. She admits that her progress in her career has not been bad as she has filmed a number of series this year.

Kate Tsui, together with Linda Chung, Fu Sze Sze and Lai Lok Yi were at the Hong Kong Stadium for a charity walk as part of the Tung Wah Charity Fundraiser, joining five thousand members of the public. As this year's Miss Hong Kong, Kate is usually dressed up for the occasion and wearing high heels, so she was glad to take the chance to take a rest from the heels as she reveals that she is planning to take lessons from a masseuse to give herself a foot massage.

Kate says: "Usually I wear a lot of high heels and they leave my feet rather painful and tired so I would like to learn how to do foot massage. When I was younger and unwell, my mum would make me bitter tea to drink. Now I do go to see the herbalist to rectify my health and have even tried accupuncture and the effects are quite good. Also with the government promotion of Chinese medicine and even the introduction of a university course on it, then I would like to learn some techniques such as massage and reflexology."

What is Kate doing recently for TV? I read about tons of charity, but has she been hosting anything? Besides TVB's anniversary, I haven't seen her in anything. Any series she might start acting in?

she was definetly a big favorite during mhk, but now that she's hosting shows (alongside) and being seen on tv, she seems to have quite a few mess ups >< but her confidence usually backs her up. i wonder why she hasn't been assigned to any series yet, because i think queenie is already (isn't she?) i can't wait for mci though, i know she'll be great there. but that depends on what talents the other competitors have

During an event for TVB's Cover Girl Contest, Kelly Chen and Kate Tsui were invited to be judges. Having previously judged Miss Hong Kong and Miss Chinese International, this is the third time that Kelly has been a judge at a beauty contest and she praises her own skills for being able to choose a winner. However, this contest is a little different because she will have a chance to get to know each contestant a little better before she has to judge and it will be hard to make a decision before the day of the competition.

Although Kelly is a renowned beauty, it turns out that before she entered the industry, she felt that she was not pretty enough and did not know how to dress up, so she never thought about entering a beauty contest. However she had great confidence in her intelligence and improvisation. As for whether she would appear on stage in a bikini, she laughs that if the swimsuit was quite big, then she would wear it, but if it was very skimpy, then it would not be so good. She remembers when she first entered showbiz, some magazines asked her to model some swimwear, but she was so scared that she turned them down immediately.

This is the first time that Kate has judged a beauty contest and she will be taking part herself representing Hong Kong for Miss Chinese International in January, so she hopes that the experience of being a judge this time will give her an insight into the criteria of beauty and be of help to her forthcoming pageant. When asked if she has already started to prepare, Kate says that some contestants suffer from anxiety and insomnia during the training period and this can leave them bloated, so she is slimming and hopes to relax as much as she can so that she can face the contest in her best form.

[Ta Kung Pao 29/11/04]

The 12th Mai Po Charity Walk was held yesterday to raise funds for the World Wide Fund for Nature (HK)'s Educational Trust. The guests of honour was Hong Kong's Financial Secretary Henry Tong, Daniel Wu and representatives from this year's Miss Hong Kong winners, Kate Tsui and Fu Sze Sze.

This was Daniel's first trip to Mai Po, but he is no stranger to the area. He says that every year, 5,500 birds will migrate to the marshes, so it is an area that needs much protection. However, he is not very knowlegeable about the actual bird species. In December, he will be heading out to Shanghai to film for Stanley Kwan's new movie version of "Song of Everlasting Sorrow". There have been reports that filming of this movie has been delayed because of it having to fit in with the schedule of female lead Sammi Cheng, but Daniel says he has not heard about this.

Daniel will be in Shanghai for a month and as he is a Shanghainese, then he knows the city quite well. In the film, he will have a lot of scenes with Sammi. Talking of Edison Chan's sister Chan Kin Fei being charged and found guilty of drug possession, Daniel did not know about this as he has not been in touch with Edison for a long time now. He feels that if they had made the decision to do this, then they have to face the consequences.

Kate says that she usually likes to go hiking and although there have been some crimes on hikers, she will not be too afraid because she will often go with a big group of friends and there are often community patrol groups around. Meeting the financial secretary Mr Tong at the start of the walk yesterday, Kate said that he was very friendly.

[The Sun 01/12/04]

This year's Miss Hong Kong winners, Kate Tsui and Fu Sze Sze took part in the Yan Chai Charity Draw event yesterday and Kate revealed that she will soon be heading out to Beijing for a four day goodwill tour. She will be visiting the mountainous regions to see some poverty stricken children and when asked if she is worried about being moved to tears and whether the children will make her cry, she says: "I am a little worried, but I hope that I can bring some happiness to them, so I will be buying some presents for them in Beijing."

Kate indicates that earlier she has been on vacation to Beijing with her family: "I went in December then too and it was very cold, but the trip to the Great Wall was well worth it." With Christmas approaching, Kate remembers the time when she went carol singing: "When I was studying in America, we often went to the old folks' home to sing carols and spread the gospel, but I cannot sing, so I hope that with everyone else singing, they could not hear me."

Miss Hong Kong winners Kate Tsui and Fu Sze Sze were together with Hong Kong's first lady Mrs Tung at a Christmas light switch on ceremony.

Talking of Christmas, Sze Sze says that although she has been studying in Singapore all aong, but she is no stranger to Christmas in Hong Kong and actually has not spent Christmas in Singapore very much. She says: "As there is no winter in Singapore, then the temperatures at Christmas are still around 30 degrees and there is very little atmosphere, so when I had Christmas vacation, then I would come back to Hong Kong and spend it with my family. I like to buy some practical presents for my parents, such as clothes." When Sze Sze was asked what she would most like to receive under the tree, she smiles: "I would most like to have a non fattening cheesecake, because I have been dieting lately and I have not eaten that for a while."

As for Kate, who studied in America, she says that despite living in the states, she has never seen a real white Christmas when it was snowing, so her Christmas wish would be to go to Finland's famous Santa Town and have a real white Christmas!

This year's Miss Hong Kong winner Kate Tsui has received her first advertising deal, replacing Charmaine Sheh as the face of a skincare brand and receiving a seven figure sum as part of the deal. When it was mentioned that she was taking over from her predecessor, Kate says: "Don't say replacing, maybe the company likes the Miss Hong Kong image. (Your skin condition was quite poor before, why have they asked you to be their spokesperson?) My skin was pretty bad before because of an allergic reaction, but as a spokesperson, I have to try the product first and after a few weeks, the result was very good, so they took me on to promote the product."

Receiving such a handsome fee for her first ad deal, Kate is very pleased and excited, especially as she is one of the very few Miss Hong Kong winners who have received an advertising contract within six months of winning the title. When asked if she feels that Miss Hong Kong is becoming more and more commercialised, Kate explains seriously: "As Miss Hong Kong, as well as doing commercial work, there are also a lot of charity duties, such as visiting the elderly."

[Ta Kung Pao 24/12/04]

The three Miss Hong Kong winners Kate Tsui, Queenie Chu and Fu Sze Sze took part in the TVB External Affairs and resident journalists Christmas Lunch yesterday and posed for photographs beside the Christmas tree and the snowman to build the festive atmosphere.

Kate says that she will have a break this Christmas, so she plans to have a party at home and go to the movies. When asked if she feels bad about not having a boyfriend to spend it with, she says not at all because it is more fun to spend Christmas and the new year with a large group of friends. She says that she has already received three presents, from her parents and friends and she has also bought many gifts for her parents, colleagues and friends. The gifts are not very valuable, but she has not calculated how much she has spent. Although she has studied in America before, living in California meant that there was very little snow, so she has never experienced a White Christmas before. She hopes that she can have the chance to go and see it in Finland.

Queenie has been a Christian since she was very young, so Christmas is a long awaited festival for her. Earlier she returned to her old school for a Christmas party and when asked if she has a particularly memorable Christmas, she says that she once played Mary in her kindergarten nativity play and used her own Cabbage Patch Kid as the baby Jesus. Later in primary school, her mother made a Christmas dinner and she mistook champagne for apple juice and when her mother walked out of the kitchen after cooking, she found Queenie drunk on the floor and though that she had a fever. Although she can drink now, she cannot drink too much and has been warned not to drink too much on Christmas Eve. She laughs: "Now I am older, then I can control myself." As for the present she would most like to receive, it is a real Christmas card because everyone sends electronic cards nowadays and so real cards with a sincere message inside are particularly meaningful.

Sze Sze's most memorable Christmas was when she was studying in Singapore. She says: "I remember that I had to leave on 26th, so on the 25th, I went shopping with my friends. As we did not want to part company, we ended up crying and did not get home until the early hours, so I did not have time to pack before my flight." Sze Sze would also like to see a white Christmas and when asked what present she would most like to receive, she smiled dreamily and said: "A cheesecake that would not make me fat, no matter how much I eat!"

[Oriental Daily & The Sun]

Kate Tsui was filming yesterday in TKO TVB City for a Miss Chinese International promotional clip and wearing a strappy dress, Kate was looking very ravishing. When she approached the Ancient Street, Niki Chow was there filming for "The Gentle Crackdown" in a wirework scene and when all the martial arts directors and stage hands saw Kate walking past, they all joked: "Who is this sexy kitten? Is she a reporter? Why is she wearing such a short dress?" Niki, who was being strapped into her harness at the time saw this and said: "Don't just look at the pretty girl! Hurry up and fix the wire, I don't want to fall off!"

Afterwards, Kate was asked if she knew that she was being heckled and she said looking bemused: "Really, that's funny. (They did not know that you are Miss Hong Kong!) It doesn't matter, they were still praising me. I don't usually dress this sexily, so I have never been heckled before. This is the first time I have been to the Ancient Street." She reveals that the training for the pageant will begin on 7th January, when she will join the other contestants and the contest will take place on 29th January.

As for her costume for this contest, Kate says that she had wanted to prepare something herself, but she could not find anything: "Now the company is making arrangements for me and I have been busy keeping fit recently, going to use the machines at the slimming centres. (Has your mum made you lots of herbal soups?) My mum doesn't bother about me, so I buy birds nest and ginseng for myself." When asked what she will be doing for the talent section, Kate says she will be dancing and adds: "My strength, so it is safer." Also, she indicates that she had a party with over twenty fans on Boxing Day, when she received a necklace with her English name on it, making her very happy.

Niki says that since she has been filming "Gentle", she has been treated as a man, laughing: "The crew are all men and they are all a lot of fund, treating me as a guy and always telling dirty jokes in front of me, so I just pretend not to hear them!"

(12/28/2004) Kate Tsui Tsi Shan yesterday worked on the Miss Chinese International promotion at the Tseung Kwan O TVB city. Coincidentally Niki Chow Lai Kei was working on a wire scene for her TVB series SAU CHOI YU JEUK BING at the same location. When the stunt team and the crew saw Kate passed by they said, "Who is this pretty girl? Is she a reporter? Her dress is so short and so sexy!" Chow Lai Kei while tying her wire screamed, "Don't just look at the girl! Hurry and help me with this wire. Don't let me fall!"

Kate revealed that she will begin training with the other candidates on January 7 and the competition will start on the 29th.

[Ta Kung Pao 30/12/04]

The "2005 Miss Chinese International Pageant" will be taking place at TVB City on 29th January and the motto this year will be "Eternal Beauty - Touching Hearts for 5000 years". A press conference was held yesterday to mark the event by the organising committee and taking part were the Deputy Co-ordinating Manager Rosa Chan, Producer Chan King Yau and last year's winners Linda Chung and Mandy Cho as well as this year's Miss Hong Kong representatives Kate Tsui, Queenie Chu and Fu Sze Sze. In order to show their support for Hong Kong's Kate, they each presented her with a gift and a card.

Producer Chan indicated that this year's event will not have any location filming and everything will take place in the studio. The 22 representatives from around the world will arrive in Hong Kong on 7th January and take part in an event as part of the Jade Solid Gold Music Awards on 8th January.

Representing Hong Kong at the pageant, Kate is confident after receiving the wishes from her predecessors and she is happy that she is so confident. She says: "I feel that my performance in Miss Hong Kong was not bad, so I hope that I can keep to that standard at this contest. As well as doing sport recently, I have also been reading up on Chinese history to tie in with this year's theme." When asked if she feels pressure with Hong Kong not having taken the title since Sonija Kwok, Kate says she will do her best and hopes people will not put too much pressure on her because she will perform better if she is relaxed on the night, just like when she won Miss Hong Kong. When asked if she has been on the internet to look up the other contestant's info, she says that the photos on the net are rather small, so she can not tell very much. She just knows that many of them are very tall, but she is not afraid of losing out on this front as she has a very balanced figure.

After winning the contest last year, Linda Chung has furthered her career in Hong Kong and she feels that she has had a very fulfilling year. When asked if she has any advice for Kate, she says that Kate has already done very well at Miss Hong Kong, so she must already have plenty of tips and a lot of confidence. Linda adds: "I feel that MCI has brought me many things, including meeting girls from all over the world, so I have somewhere to stay wherever I go now." As for New Year's Eve celebrations, Linda will be spending the time wokring, but after filming finishes for "Virtues of Harmony", she will have two weeks vacation, where she will be nursing her health to prepare for new work as well as polishing up her Cantonese because there are still some words she cannot pronounce correctly.

Mandy Cho was last year's MCI runner up and thinking back to the three weeks training they had in the hotel, she felt it was hard work to start with but then there was not enough time. During this time, she had a very happy experience with the other contestants and they all formed a bond with each other, so it was a shame they all had to scatter at the end and head back to different places. They keep in touch by email now and she sees Linda and Vivien Yeo the most as they are both working for TVB now.

Does Mandy have any tips for Kate? She says that the most important thing is to enjoy the experience and not to let people give her too much pressure. She says: "The contestants from the other places come to Hong Kong for the pageant alone, so to represent Hong Kong, then you should try to give them the warmth of home. Last year, I tried to make everyone feel like they were on holiday and in the end they repaid my hospitality by voting for me in the "Miss Friendship" award." As for whether she has been on the internet to check the standards of the other contestants, Mandy believes that the standard is quite high this year, like those last year. As Jessica Chui from last year's contest has signed for a Mainland film company, Mandy tried to contact her whilst working in China recently, but was unable to. She says that as they are both very busy, then it is difficult to keep in touch.

For this year's New Year's Eve, Mandy will be having a party at home and she says that she does not like having too many people around, so most of her celebrations will be at home. As for the recent tsunami disaster, Mandy says she wants to donate money to the appeal, but does not know how to, so she hopes there will soon be some clear instructions from the organisations. When Mandy took part in Miss Hong Kong, she filmed on location in Phuket and she sighs: "Seeing the destruction in the area now, I don't knoww when we will be able to go back there again." Talking of the number of people dead in this disaster, Mandy says that the worst hit are the children because what was supposed to be a happy holiday has turned into an ordeal where parents have been lost and it is very heart wrenching.

Kate Tsui Tsi Shan will participate in the 2005 Miss Chinese International pageant. Mandy Lee Cho (Cho Man Lei), Linda Chung Ka Wai, Queenie Chu Wai Man, Fu Sze Sze and others attended the press conference in support. Tsui Tsi Shan honestly said that she was confident about being in the top three. "For years no Hong Kong representative have won. I will do my best. Recently I have been training hard and studying hard on Chinese history and culture." She has also seen the other candidates' information online. "Everyone is so tall, but having the right figure ratio is the most important."

Last year's Miss Chinese International first runner up Cho Man Lei advised, "Don't give yourself too much pressure. Enjoy the pageant process and try to be warm to other candidates. When I won the Miss Congeniality award I was truly touched, like I really passed."

The pageant will not shoot aboard this year. Producer Chan King Yau said, "Shooting in Hong Kong sets are pretty close because we have to coordinate with the Chinese and Western cultures. This year's Miss Chinese International candidates will present an award on January 8's JADE SOLID GOLD awards."

[Ta Kung Pao 04/01/05]

Kate Tsui took part in a press conference for the skincare product she is spokesperson for and wearing a white evening dress and the Miss Hong Kong crown, she went on to demonstrate doing a facial for a model. The event also premiered her advertising clip, but the result made Kate speak with a squeaky voice. Later, she explained that on the day of the shoot, she was just wearing a strappy dress and maybe because it was so cold, it made her voice sound very shrill. She says that she was shaking as she filmed and she did not have much breath, but she will be more aware next time.

As spokesperson for a skincare product, she will be presenting her friends and fellow Miss Hong Kong representatives with samples of the facial masks. As this is her first ad, she will be recording the ad when it airs. Recently there have been reports that although she is the reigning Miss Hong Kong, she does not wear make up when she goes out normally and this is affecting the Miss Hong Kong image. Kate says that she has read this report and on that day she just had light make up on. She says she will not be unhappy about this and laughs that she is not too bad and is still presentable even if she does not wear make up. Anyway, she has also read reports that say that she is not suited to wearing lots of make up, so beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

She adds that many young female artistes are always filming but still manage to keep their skin very well. Take Shirley Yeung for example, her skin is very good. As she will soon be participating in Miss Chinese International and the emphasis this year is on 5000 years of Chinese Culture, she is currently catching up on her Chinese History knowledge after studying abroad for so long.

[Ta Kung Pao 07/01/05]

This year's Miss Hong Kong winners Kate Tsui, Queenie Chu and Fu Sze Sze attended a presentation ceremony at the Hong Kong Jockey Club yesterday. A total of $35 million dollars was collected in donation boxes at all of its branches and together with TVB's own fundraising show and the government's fundraiser at the Hong Kong Stadium, the amount raised is estimated at around $100 million. The proceeds will go to five charitable organisations that are the Hong Kong Red Cross, Hong Kong World Vision, Oxfam, Unicef and the Salvation Army.

Kate indicated that she has already donated and hopes that she can help even more people, but she will not be able to take part in the Crossing Borders fundraising show tomorrow because she has to join the other Miss Chinese International contestants in the training camp. At the moment, she is working hard to keep fit and has even given up her beloved potato crisps [US: chips] and is keeping up her facial regime.

As this year's MCI pageant is themed along China's 5000 years of history, Kate has been busy studying and as she may be wearing an ancient costume, she would most like to wear a Mongolian costume. This year, the contestants will not be filming abroad and Kate says that this is not necessariily a bad thing because there are many places in Hong Kong that she has never been to, such as Nam Sang Village and Kut Hing Village, so she hopes that they can look around whilst they are filming there.

[Ta Kung Pao 19/01/05]

The second group of this year's Miss Chinese International Pageant contestants (Nos 6-11) continued filming in their Tang Dynasty costumes yesterday and as it was also the 25th birthday of No 5 Jolene Chin respresenting Kuala Lumpur, a special birthday party was held for her. The other girls gave her a big surprise as they presented her with cards and flower and her room mate No 17 Kate Tsui gave her a dress and a birthday kiss.

Whilst preparing in the dressing room, Kate was exchanging language tips with No 22 Sawankwan Pradubduen from Bangkok and just at this time, a staff member was handing out the girls' number badges and someone was teaching Sawankwan to say the number 19 in Cantonese, but on a number of times, she mispronounced the number 9, making it sound like an expletive and causing a few laughs.

As Jolene is an only child, she is very happy to share her birthday with so many people this year and her birthday wish is for good health and everything to go well and progress. When asked if her boyfriend had called to wish her a happy birthday, she says she does not have a boyfriend yet, but she did receive a lot of greeting texts earlier. She was busy filming in TVB City, but the other girls came to visit her in the studio. When asked what presents she had received, she says that when she returned to the hotel, apart from Kate's dress, there was also a mysterious bunch of flowers. No 12 Lena Ma from Toronto also presented her with a pair of earrings. When asked if she would win, she says she will go with the flow as she is only here for the experience and sees it as a learning opportunity. If she wins an award, then it would be a bonus.

No 10 Fala Chan is a hot favourite to win this year and wearing her ancient costume yesterday, she was even more photogenic. She says that this is because she has a rather classic appearance and the period costume is very beautiful. Talking of this year's theme being "Eternal Beauty - Touching Hearts for 5000 Years", does she feel that her appearance puts her in a good position? She says that this may not be the case because it is not just about looks, as stage presence, poise and reaction are just as important.

[Ta Kung Pao 20/01/05]

Contestant numbers 17 to 22 in this year's "Miss Chinese International Pageant" filmed in Qing Dynasty costumes at TVB City yesterday and this is the first time that Hong Kong representative No 17 Kate Tsui has worn period costume. She says that when she was young, she wore a Qing costume for ballet, but it was rather simplified. Riding on the back of the popularity of "War and Beauty", she feels that the costume this time is very beautiful and all the outfits and shoes have been especially made for the event. As for whether it is hard to walk in Qing palatial shoes, Kate says that it is not and she can actually walk faster than wearing heels, but she does say that the hairpiece is very heavy.

For this year's pageant, the girls will be wearing fur as well as bikinis and Kate was asked if she has been keeping fit. She says that she started her regime very early on. She adds that although she is representing Hong Kong, she still has to move into the hotel with the other contestants and for security reasons, she has to sign out when she goes out. Even when her mother brings her soup, she has to take it to TVB City to hand it to her.

I don't particularly like Kate because she's so fake...she wears a plastic tilted smile and she has rather bad skin...to be honest I don't even think she should represent Hong Kong...In the MHK 04 final I felt the night belonged to Kayee Tsang and Fu Sze Sze (just because her voice pitch was tooo high she didn't have the winning look).

MHK 04 I felt that it was pretty muched fix that Kate was going to win

I hope TVB does not promote her

[Ta Kung Pao, The Sun & Oriental Daily 21/01/05]

The 22 contestants from this year's Miss Chinese International Pageant went two separate ways yesterday and contestant numbers 8-11 and 17-22 visited Stanley, whilst the other girls stayed at TVB City trying on their Ming Dynasty costumes and filming. First they went to take photographs at Stanley Fort before heading into Stanley Market to go shopping. Afterwards, they enjoyed lunch at the Jumbo Floating restaurant.

After arriving at the market, they attracted many local traders and other tourists and although they were shopping, the trail of press following them made them rather unwelcome, with complaints coming from shopkeepers saying they were getting in the way.

No 20 Cecilia Liu from Montreal bought an angel headdress for No 22 Sawankwan Produbduen from Bangkok and as she was too happy, she slipped as she left the shop and as the press were too busy taking photographs of her, no-one bothered to help her up. Luckily she was fine and continued to shop away happily afterwards, buying a set of dragon-phoenix pictures for her family that signified "Safety in the Home". No 10 Fala Chen and No 12 Lena Ma [Em: this seems to be a mistake as No 12 wasn't there! Haha!] bought some doggy clothes, but the most prolific shopper was No 8 Patricia Hon from Calgary, who not only spent $600 on three pairs of shoes, she went on to buy a stone chop with her name on. Hot favourite Fala seemed rather chilly in her thin clothing and when they were having their photographs taken on Stanley beach, she was shivering with the cold. A warm hug from Kate soon warmed her up and Kate showed her friendship by helping to fix Fala's hair.

Hong Kong representative No 17 Kate Tsui played the photographer for the others throughout the trip, so she did not buy anything for herself. She laughs: "It doesn't matter because if I wanted to, I could come here any time. The most important thing is for me to be a good tour guide, group leader and interpreter because the main role of being Miss Hong Kong is to promote Hong Kong. (Some people thought you were just a tour guide and did not recognise you as Miss Hong Kong.) Really? Some people recognised me and called my name and even asked me to have my photo taken with them! (Some shopkeepers found you all obstructive and yelled at you to move on.) I did not hear them and did not notice. This trip to Stanley would have helped their business, so it is good publicity for them."

Meanwhile, five contestants were rehearsing in TVB City and were very excited about their Ming Dynasty costumes. Having been called 'ugly' by some tourists in Lantau Island the day before, No 16 Kimberley Chin from Taipei did not seem affected by this and said defiantly: "I am very confident in myself, this is not just about appearances, internal beauty is just as important." Vancouver's representative No 15 Leanne Li was asked if she was under any pressure after the previous successes of Vancouver in the contest and she said: "No pressure, as long as I do my best then that is fine."

I can't believe the people who don't like Kate! She has really strong stage presnce, as boa has said, and she has a really unique beauty! When i was in hong kong this summer, they done loads of lead-up shows on the miss Hong Kong's and she was so talented!

She speaks 4 languages fluently, she can dance - it's endless! And on the night that she won Miss Hong Kong, she was so graceful, and her confidence really shone through, so she answered all her questions really well!

She won 3 other awards on the show, along with the winner crown, and that alone shows that she was a really special Miss Hong kong.

I was also very lucky to she her at the food expo, and she is actually alot prettier in person! She was also very nice! As i called her to take a photograph, she turned to me, whilst Fu sze sze and queenie were only looking at the press for their phots to b taken!

So, for those who don't like kate, open your eyes! She is the best Miss Hk there has ever been!!!

Kate can be reallyy cute sometimes. She's the type that need the appropriate type of makeup.. like in the umbrella pic I think she's really cute, but not in skin care advertising pic. I read somewhere she's not joining TVB, which I find to be a real pity. I really don't get why a lot of people are against her, sure, she may not be the most beautiful or elegant Miss HK, but she definitely has talent, eloquence, and a special aura that makes her o-so-unique. Also a pity that I can barely find any info on her.

Kate and Shirley Speaks About Miss HK Candidate

Kate Tsui has been paying attention to this year's Miss Hong Kong pageant. Kate, last year’s Miss HK says that the quality is very balanced, the candidates for this year’s Miss HK have high educations and are very high is height. When asked about rumours that Chui Lai Yin's scar was actually from tattoo removal, Kate says that there are no rules that says that contestants cannot have tattoos and she has no objections to them, she would not have a tattoo or even have her ears pierced as this is a personal opinion. Tattoos are being allowed for the 'Mr Hong Kong' contestants; Kate says that she will respect the rules.

Kate is currently filming for new series 'Legal Spokesperson' and has been filming in the studio for the first time recently. Although she had learned her lines beforehand, she was still very nervous. Luckily Myolie Wu and Sammul Chan were helping her during the filming.

Shirley Yeung feels sorry for Chu Lai Yin, says, "maybe it was an accident, any girl with a scar will be unhappy." Shirley isn’t against people having tattoos, but she will not do that because it is a mark that will be there for the rest of your life. The current trend in artistes having tattoos, Shirley smiles and says, "I would not do that because in the past I have had fake tattoos and it looked disgusting when fading."

News]

Hacken Lee has invited this year's Miss Hong Kong winner Kate Tsui to take part in his new music video for "Flying Person" and Kate presented Hacken with her first screen kiss in the video. As Kate is this year's Miss Hong Kong, then they had to look after her image and integrity, so before filming, the director had consulted Miss Hong Kong Co-ordinator Rosa Chan to make sure she approved. However, Hacken has always had a healthy image and of course there is no problem and so Kate was allowed to give him her first screen kiss.

During the shoot, Kate was only required to give Hacken a very small peck on the cheek and it was nothing very serious at all. Hacken laughs that he understand that Miss Hong Kong have to keep their gracious image intact, so a small kiss on the cheek is enough to get the message across. The reporters laughed at him, asking if he felt a special affection being kissed by a Miss Hong Kong [Ref: Hacken's girlfriend and former Miss Hong Kong Emily Lo] and he responded by pointing and calling the reporter 'crazy' for looking at things from this angle.

In the video, Kate plays a ballet dancer who injures her leg and has to sit in a wheelchair and in one scene, Hacken has to join her in a wheelchair to show his affection for her. For Hacken, the most difficult thing was for them both to control the direction of the chair because it was very confusing and they were left rather puzzled. Hacken laughs: "With just one pair of hands, we had to hold hands and this meant we could not control the chair. Finally we had to ask the crew to help us turn the wheels and we finally managed to complete the scene." He praises Kate for giving a very professional standard in her performance.

As for giving her first screen kiss, Kate says it was just a peck on the cheek and when she was living in America, this was just a normal social gesture and in any case, Hacken's image is very positive, so she did not feel embarrassed at all whilst filming.

Kate looks best with dark makeup as opposed to natural makeup..
She's been filming 'Legal Spokesperson/Lawful Attorney' (whatever the title is) and she's gona also be in the new series 'It's Hard to be a Woman' as Sheren's sister! smile.gif

So anyways, I saw her eps of Fantasy Trend and it seems that she has the same problem as Mandy. Kinda shouts the lines and exaggerates for the happy scenes.. I guess it's a common mistake for beginners. But Kate's much more natural when it came to the emotional scene.

Kate and Kenneth Make Sushi
Having been romantically linked in earlier rumours, Kenneth Ma and Kate Tsui will be dating in their new series "It's Hard to be a Woman". In the series, Kenneth plays a sushi chef and Kate plays his student. They joined together earlier for some sushi making lessons at a hotel and although they were both quite clumsy, they worked together well, with one of them cutting the fish and the other making the rice balls, but Kate was quicker to pick up the skill and it was laughed that she was more like the teacher and not Kenneth.

There will be a lot of romantic scenes between them in the show, asked if she was worried about more rumours, Kate laughs: "They have already started even before filming, but it is all just acting, so there is nothing to worry about." With some kissing scenes in the show, Kenneth was asked if he feels awkward: "I don't know if there are any kissing scenes, but it is just filming. I don't know if Kate is worried though because this is her first screen experience."
