Xiah's Life

Xiah Junsu's vocal prowess (inherited from his mother, who used to be a singer) was discovered at the age of 12 when he auditioned for SM Entertainment through the Starlight Casting System televised talent search, with Moon Hee Jun and Kangta from H.O.T. as judges. Xiah wanted to be a soccer player but after seeing H.O.T perform the song Candy on TV, his new dream was to sing on stage. A year after, Xiah's best friend Hyukjae also made it into SM.

After entering SM, he begin his training for his future ahead. After three years, a 3 member RnB group was planned with Xiah, Hyukjae and fellow schoolmate Sungmin as the member. However, Xiah's voice change started as he went through puberty and that caused him to be unable to sing. Because of this, he lost several opportunities to debut. Xiah has often felt it was his fault that his other members could not debut as well, even though others have often tried to console him.

Xiah's voice change continued way longer than an average boy's. While the time was usually 6 months to a year, Xiah's lasted 3 years. During this time, Xiah could not sing and reach notes he could before. His frustration grew to a max when a visit to the doctor told him that he should stop singing until his voice change was over. Xiah could not accept this and would yell out songs and notes he could not sing anymore to counter his feelings. Looking back, Xiah thinks this caused damage to his voice and contributed to his special high-pitched speaking voice.

When his voice change ended, SM was planning the creation a new group. Xiah was the first member to be chosen for this group. His talent in vocal and dance made him one of the best trainees at the time. The other four members were also leaders in their respective training groups. While the group was still being created, Xiah's personality allowed him to quickly make friends with his new members.

Six years after Xiah first joined SM, he debuted as a member of TVXQ on December 26, 2003 during a BoA and Britney Spears Showcase with their debut single Hug.

His personality is more edgy.. when he's cold he's very cold, when he's mad he's really mad, when he's playing around he hits you hard, even though he was serious, but it still hurts! But he never hits Yoochun because Yoochun's really sensitive, once back in training days, he hit Yoochun playingly, and Yoochun cried.. so never again after that. Junsu went through a lot of tough times during training days, despite the fact that he was one of the best trainees. Once his voice went away, a lot of people who were jealous were all stumping on him. That was his darkest time.

Junsu's very strong and independent even though he acts cute in front of the camera, but off the camera he's much more mature than he appears to be on camera. It's said that if SM has plan for them to go solo, Junsu would make the first solo debut. Junsu holds himself and others to very high standards when it comes to music, he doesn't allow himself to make any mistake.. a perfecionist. Eun Hyuk of SUJU is Junsu's best, he will kick others butt for Junsu. Once during trainee days, someone was making fun of Junsu, Eun Hyuk came in and slapped him.

Xiah and Lee Hyukjae first met when they were in grade 5. They both shared a love of soccer and music and that's what drew them to each other. At school, they were seen as the "guys" of the school and were constantly together. They "ostracized" the rest of the school as they preferred to hang out with each other.

As they grew up, they went to the same middle and high school. Although not always in the same class, their friendship remained strong. When Xiah made it into SM and Hyukjae did not, their friendship was not affected. Hyukjae was happy for his friend, even though he was left out. However, a year later, Hyukjae also made it into SM through the same Starlight Casting System that found Xiah.

In 2005, the group Super Junior debuted. Hyukjae debuted in this 13 member boy group as Eunhyuk. He had to create this stage name because another celebrity shares his real name. During the time of their first debut performance, Xiah was busy with TVXQ activities. However, he didn't want to miss it, so he called his mother and asked her to put the phone next to the tv so he could hear.

Although close friends, Eunhyuk and Xiah love to bicker. Everyone knows this. During a Sukira radio broadcast in 2006 when TVXQ were guests (right after O's release), everyone expected the results. Max even stated he was worried about what would happen. Sure enough, Eunhyuk and Xiah started bickering on air and throwing insults at each other.

When Super Junior's car crash in May 2007 happened in China and Eunhyuk, Eeteuk, Shindong and Kyuhyun were the victims, Xiah was in Japan. He first heard the news indirectly and couldn't rest until he found out more. As soon as Eunhyuk could, he called Xiah from the hospital.

During Super Junior's SBS Exploration of the Human Body variety show, episodes 9 and 10, TVXQ were guests. Eunhyuk and Xiah could be seen always together and hanged out off camera. It's been a while since TVXQ were back in Korea and the two friends missed each other.

Reporter: First, please introduce yourselves.

Hyuksu: Hello. We are LeeHyukjae, year 1 class 11, and KimJunsu, year one class 12.
Reporter: What is charismatic about a career in singing? Since when did you guys feel interested in it?

Hyukjae: I like being in front of people, and being a singer allows you to show off yourself. I felt interested starting my third year of elementary school.

Junsu: I like making people smile with our music. I wanted to try it once because singing and dancing on stage is so charismatic. Since fifth grade and until my third year (of middle school), i had a dream to become a baseball player. . .

Reporter: Since when did you start preparing?

Hyukjae: I started in sixth grade, but I really kept up my dream of becoming a singer when I joined SM my second year of middle school. For Junsu, first year of middle school?

Reporter: The hardest thing and sacrifices you made while training?

Hyukjae: The hard thing is that it's so tiring. If my head touches anything, I just fall right asleep.

Junsu: (cute^^) I want to study but I don't have time so something of a loss is that I can't study ~

Hyukjae: Sometimes I cry becuase I want to study;;

Junsu: I'm jealous of you all who study~ (reporters laugh)

Reporter: Is there anyone else other than you two in your group? Is there a set group?

Hyukjae: There's one "hyung". He's a year older, but he's good-looking and sings well and is nice. But the others, I can't really tell. . . I *think* this is when they were still in process of making the 3-member r&b group? I'm not too sure. Seems like it though; the timeline & all. The person who found this suggested that the guy in Sungmin, but I don't think so since Sungmin is the same age?

Reporter: Tell me one episode that happened during practice.

Hyukjae: I saw a "gwi-sheen" once. While dancing, I was making a turn. I was watching near Junsu, and behind Junsu, there was a person standing there. But when I saw again, there was no on there. . ., I'm scared. TT TT

Reporter: Introduce us to a song you sing best. . .

Junsu: I don't know about best-singing but my favorite songs are kangta songs. . .

Hyukjae: A song I sing well is She's GOne~ (^^;;) Song I like is Park Hyo Shin's "pianist." (Due to Hyuksu's excuse of having caught a cold, we did not get to hear their singing TT_TT)

Reporter: About when will your album come out?

Junsu: This is really a secret~ sorrie TT TT

Reporter: Since when did you two know each other? How did you guys get close?

Junsu: We have lots to say about this one. Fifth grade, there was a boy who couldn't even play soccer but everyday, tagged along. He always wore a red cotton t-shirt and enjoyed wearing capris~ When I saw him then, his first impression was wierd and I felt awkward~ Of course the reason why we became close was because we shared the same dream.

Hyukjae: I too first saw him in fifth grade. (Junsu falls over on the bench ;;)

Which songs do you think contain a lot of emotion?
Junsu: I like “O” a lot! It was our third title track in Korea and it’s a song that only TVXQ can sing/pull off. You can see the TVXQ “color” in that song! Doing the recording in Korean and Japanese was ok, but as for performing on stage … (laughs). When I’m singing in Korean, there are times where I would suddenly just start singing in Japanese (laughs)

You’ve been to many places and heard different dialects. Recently, what dialect do you remember?
Junsu: Aaah, you didn’t know? Really? Yataaa! (laughs)

Spring is the season for meetings! In Korea, is it the guys or the girls who do the confessions usually?
Junsu: Recently, there are more girls who confess. But in the whole world, there are more men who do the confessions.

In an FAnet survey, we found out that the “Not just being kind, but also manly” got the most votes. The second highest was “An honest person” and third “A dependable person”. Fourthly, “An interesting person” and in fifth place “A person who shows his true colors”. Is it the same in Korea?
Junsu: HAI, I think it’s the same (laughs)

What have you been interested in recently?
Junsu : I’m insterested in PRISON BREAK! *LMAO hahaha*

Junsu: Hai! I’ve started getting allergic to pollen since I’ve came to Japan. (laughs)
Yuchun: I think I’ve got all the allergies in the world. I’m really allergic to cats, followed by dogs. Ah, but I really like them...
Jaejoong: Allergic to animals and flowers. And the worst of all, HUMANS (all of them laugh)
Yuchun: Junsu is allergic to horses too!
Junsu: I think there was once some horse saliva got into my eyes. And worse than that, I’m allergic to leather/fur (animal skin thingies) too! Ever since ou debut, if I ever put on a leather watch, I’ll get rashes (and I’m not sure why he used the sound effect to to to to to to to to)
Yuchun: Ah, me too! I really like wasabi, but if I eat it, I get tummy aches. However, I still eat it (laughs).

Ah, Junsu-kun, you’re wearing contacts! And its not that nice to have Pollen allergy huh?
Junsu: Hai! Recently, my eye has been really itchy (laughs). However, this January, I did a vision correcting surgery (I’m not sure if it’s lasik) and now I don’t need to use contacts anymore.
Yuchun: I went with him too!
Junsu + Yuchun: It was totally not scary!
Jaejoong: It was really scaaaryy! (laughs)
[Manager : That’s not true! They didn’t regret if after they had the op!]
Yuchun: The op was totally painless but after it was done, when light first entered my eyes, it was paint for about 4 to 5 hours (laughs)
Junsu: I thought to myself “Why am I doing this?!” But after about 5 hours, I could slowly see a new world!
Yuchun: “Waaaaaaa!” (laughs) Really, there was an improvement (laughs)
Jaejoong: But Yuchun sleeps in my room and he couldn’t sleep! When he was trying to sleep, he kept going “Uwaaaaaaaaa~~! Uwaaa!” and cried. He cried a lot (laughs)
Yuchun: My tears were flowing like a shower and my eyes were swelling as if I caught a cold! It was really painful and I kept going AAAAAAAAAAH (laughs)
Junsu: But it was ok after about 4-5 hours! However I had problems with my patience during that few hour (laughs).

He is so funny I never knew anyone who would be jealous of people who study. I think that it is great though that he likes to study. I should take after him and study some more.

leny yeh i actually didnt like live bands before,
cuz it makes the DE perf didnt sound as energetic and upbeat as the cd ver.
but then i came to enjoy it, i think the beats were actually catchy ^^
and yeh, i watched parts of the dl ver. too,
those that were aired before the dvd came out and some good perfs werent included
but now i have them all in my hands and for some reason, im not in a hurry to finish it lol
i think the logo of the T is really creative and artistic
i mean, its just a "T" but they made the coolest out of the simple letter "T" ^.^
now that i mention it, i want the "T" shirt too >.<
oh, so did u buy the booklet along with the dvd?
i actually never bought any booklets,
i always prefer posters or just booklet scans on computer haha
i know, so scheming, taking ppl's paid-for stuff, but i thanked them?
but really i think booklets are useless, at least to me ^^;;
theres a booklet in the RS concert dvd i just bought a few months ago
n i actually didnt go through it a second time since the day i bought it
idk, haha, lazy or just find nothing significant about that,
i hope i'd find someway to make use of it some day xP
