Finishing first in the first season of the Taiwan talent competition show "Super Idol", up-and-coming singer Zhang Yun Jing was one of the most eye-catching newcomers of 2008. i think these captions are meant to go with the background scenes of the mv
and the song's lyrics are supposed to relate to Zhang Yun Jing, herself

It's a song of friendship, the deep kind...and being your true self
perhaps some people might be irked a little by the (i don't know what to call them) people who dress in dresses and probably are guys
but this song is just about having someone who accepts who you are and loves you for that
quite deep indeed ^^

I would say my favorite scene from the MV would be of the burning dresses and Jing standing among them. It's a silent kind of motivation.

I've listened to all 10 songs (I'll put the list description up later) and all 10 of them are really good, at least in my opinion. They really show off Jing's vocals and all.

she has another MV out called 破天荒/(translation: something about going beyond or breaking loose from expectation)
she's changing into different characters as if going beyond the audience's expectations
this song was written by 怪獸 from 五月天 or Mayday

at first i thought that Jing's voice was too quiet for this song and didn't have enough power

but after you listen to the song one or two times, there's this sort of inspiring feeling that comes from Jing's voice and the accompanying music
it cheers you up in a way

last note: of the many characters Jing becomes in this MV, she wears a long hair wig and all that

netizens had this whole stir because she wore this wig and "dressed up like a girl"
but then again she IS a GIRL

I was like: "who is this?"
originally i was watching the video for some other singer, but then my focus totally turned to Zhang Yun Jing haha

It's supposed to be a love triangle thingy like a drama or whatever
Plot: The three of them (Jing, QiLing from Flying Fish a.k.a the guy in the yellow shirt, and Li Hui Qi the other girl) are really close friends. QiLing likes Jing for her outgoing nature, but LHQ likes QiLing because he's really caring towards everyone. I don't know how the MV will turn out, but it seems exciting from the released pics so far.







During the filming of this MV, Jing had a scene where she had to hit QL. But she hit him too hard and so they had to delay filming for QL's jaw to swell down. This sort of reminds me of Meteor Garden (the taiwanese version). There was similar news where Barbie Hsu had to hit Jerry Yan, but then she hit him so hard that he didn't talk to her the rest of the day or whatnot.

haha yea i seriously that she was a boy. i was so surprised when i realized it was a girl. i guess if i had heard her voice first i would have known it was a girl. but i hadn't heard her speak before so i thought she was a guy all the way up until this time haha

I've been reading this particular site about Jing. So far this is the only site that post all in english. Am glad of it..

About the previous posts, hmm, I think many would have the same thought and opinion about Jing's gender. But I have never thought she was guy (i guess i'm weird)... maybe because of her small body frame. The first time I saw her was on 100% entertainment news and the volume of my tv was on mute mode. Maybe that's how I got away with the wrong judgement on Jing... haha.

Anyways, am glad that minchong92 have been posting updates about Jing in english all these while. This site is where I first saw Jing's MV. There are too many websites that has Jing's story and info but very limited in english.

With regards to minchong92's post on the new MV of Jing, I can't wait to see the MV... haha. It's really interesting to see Jing acting.

By the way, does anyone knows that Jing was being considered to appear in Love or Bread where the main casts are Da S (Barbie Hsu) and Xiao Zhong (Chen Yuan Chang). But after that, there's no update about it.. I guess it's just a news, nothing much.

Also, there was this article that said there will be a new taiwan drama series titled 'San Bao Mei' and GTV was asked whether are they going to consider to ask Jing to play the role of 'San Bao Mei'. In the end, they said they wanted to get a more experienced actress as Jing is still a newcomer to the entertainment industry.

Before I "discovered" Jing, I was actually just about to give up Taiwanese entertainment for a while because none of the new debut singers were that unique. When I went to Taiwan, I bought a magazine and the cover had Jing on it. I was sort of confused as to whether she was a guy or not. But I saw the word 她 (she) on the interview section and got even more confused. Then I gave the magazine to a friend and forgot all about it...until a random youtubing event
I saw her again on YLBFB and then watched some of her performance clips on Super Idol.

Then it was what some ppl may call "obsession"? haha nah, I just really find Zhang Yun Jing's stage presence really fascinating and her voice is really clean and bright. Her voice isn't very girly and it's not that guyish either haha, it's like in the middle. For the new year, she had a duet with Qing Feng, the lead singer for Sodagreen. They sang Blue Eyes (the original singer was Angela Zhang) and for me, it's a whole new kind of duet. Because QF's voice is quite high-pitched for a guy and it's somewhat yodely while Jing's voice is clean and go high or low. For me, the duet really is one of the best that I've seen in Taiwanese music. Perhaps it's not the best vocally-wise (but it's up there), but it's really fresh and rejuvenating XD
The two of them are a really cool pair and funny at the same time

Yeah I saw those two articles and they're the only articles on Jing in Asianfanatics sadly .
Most of the idol dramas for GTV or SETTV usually bring up random/popular singers or actors/actresses to get more news for their drama. I don't think Jing was considered for the role in Love or Bread that seriously. But I heard that her manager was also managing that drama and was somewhat considering her. But that also conflicted with Jing and Super Idol because Super Idol is on the channel SETTV while Love or Bread airs on GTV. The two channels are sort of rivals so Jing being casted on Love or Bread would've been really complicated. I think Barbie was considered slightly but her name is just in the article to make news I guess.
The two main people who ended up being casted for Love or Bread were Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng (Cheng Yun Chang). The drama ended a few months ago.
San Bao Mei was the same thing I think. The two people who ended up being casted for that were Nicholas Teo and Amber Kuo, I think. Should be...

But I think Jing wants to further her singing career before she goes into acting. But if she ever did go into acting, according to an interview (I'll post that later), she doesn't want to be the lead. She wants to be the side character who beats up the bad guys who treat other girls badly or whatever. haha

For Jing to get such good results for her first album and after 10 long months from her winning Super Idol, this shows that she will be a singer to be watched and heard from now on

Do you mean QingFeng of Sodagreen or QiLing of Flying Fish? I sort of lols at both of the guys' interactions with Jing. She's so manly towards both of them, like slap shoulder manly. haha
And that dance up there that I posted some weeks ago, that dance comes from Flying Fish's song, Weird Girl. I lol'ed even harder at that.
On the other hand, Jing seemed really happy to duet with QingFeng. She smiled really big throughout the entire duet.

Jing has started to have some signing events for her CD. She has already held two events, one in Taichung and one in Taoyuan.

Another big one is coming up 5/30 this Saturday in XiMenDing, Taipei.

They don't have to pull in another person who dresses like Jing to further emphasize why Jing is different from other female artistes...
Furthermore, Li Ning was already eliminated from Super Idol 3 weeks ago and the 敗部復活賽/Wild Card part of the competition hasn't even been started (even though potential wild cards have already been getting ready for it)

I would think since right now is Jing's album promotion period, the show only focusing on her would be more beneficial towards Jing
personally, I have seen some Li Ning's performances (her first performance was the best, in my opinion). She's not as vocally strong as Jing and her stage presence is sometimes somewhat boring, but she has her own strong points such as her work ethic to improve and will to practice. Still, the show producers should have thought first before asking Li Ning to come. Li Ning still has a long way to go and she's only 16 (so much time for her to get better). Plus Super Idol 3 isn't even over! To give Li Ning more exposure would be sort of unfair to the other contestants...

Last Saturday on 5/16, Jing went back to Super Idol 3 to promote her album. She is the first of Season 1 to have an album. After all, she was the winner.

Besides being a guest judge, she also dueted with another contestant (who is currently the highest in popularity votes like Ah Jing was in Season 1)
They sang Blue Eyes (the duet Jing sang with QingFeng), but this time Jing had to sing the deeper part. I would say this duet was pretty good, even though the contestant's voice is really high in pitch and somewhat shaky at times. If you download the mp3 file and listen to it a few times, the duet gets stuck in your head xD and gets as addicting as the duet QF and Jing sang

Jing's appearance on Azio @ Superstar was the one that really caught my attention. It was only aired this month on 12/5/2009 on Astro channel 301. (Isn't that very backdated?? ). I remembered seeing her duetting with Yuming singing "Fan Dao Zhe Lian". That scene was abit funny and where the part they hold hands, I don't know whether those who saw that part paid attention to one of her fellow super idol member, the guy who's sitting back there... he's reaction was tensed up... don't why he gave such a 'king' expression (u know how taiwanese used to describe when a situation is very tense)
Since then i'm quite into Jing... especially her songs, music talents, and her unique vocal. I agree with minchong92 that her vocals now has improved alot... more than alot actually..
Malaysia's now still airing Super Idols Season 1 on their local tv station. There's still alot more episodes i think..So those who still wana catch Jing in the competition, you can still watch it on Malaysia's local channel 8tv, every saturdays @ 5pm.

This was when she recorded Black Dress and the guy next to her is Anson Hu, her senior who wrote the song for her specifically.
Jing wasn't on television that much last year, probably because of the Super Idol top 10 concerts and the promotion events they had to do. But I think she was on the majority of shows that the top 10 had to appear such as 100% Entertainment, Azio, and some other ones (I think Million Star contestants got more tv programs to appear on; but now that's all changing)

haha, I remember that. It's really rare when contestants from "rival" singing competitions get collaborate. It was so funny though when they switched their parts and Jing sang the lower part and Yuming sang the falsetto. I cracked up especially at Weihao's (the guy in the glasses) reaction to everything; he's so dramatic... In my opinion, the holding hands wasn't that weird. It was just really funny; Jing almost starting laughing too hard to finish the duet.
I think that show aired around November of 2008. I guess that is a little late to air the show in May, considering Super Idol EP promotions are over already. But it gets to show off Jing and maybe more ppl will go and buy her album.
I want to watch Jing on tv. But the closest I can get is connecting my laptop to the tv XD

I feel a little overenthusiastic at times about this haha, perhaps it is obsession...

Qing Feng and Jing sang for the SETTV New Year's Concert. Before they sang their duet, Jing also sang some other songs that she had performed before on Super Idol. She also did this rock duet thing with one of the judges, Huang Guo Lun. But in my opinion, it wasn't as good. Huang Guo Lun's a little old for the rock thing XD no offense to him... He's a good songwriter and judge and he's funny too. But I don't think the singing english rock songs does it for him.

Yeah, the G-Music chart is based in Taiwan. I heard that the radio stations in Singapore and Malaysia have somewhat begun to air Jing's Black Dress. I'm hoping that her album will sell well enough for her to be able to go out of Taiwan to promote her album.

some more news: yesterday 5/26, Golden Typhoon EMI held a celebration/news conference for Jing. I think her album has done really well, better than other new artists currently debuting in Taiwan, in just the two weeks that it has been out. Jing said that now her company is considering to film 3 more MVs for her (besides the ones for Black Dress, Unprecedented, and Let Me Take Care of You). That's really exciting

To get ready for going abroad, Jing got a new passport. She hasn't traveled abroad before. Her company is already planning for her to go to Hong Kong and Szechuan, China to promote her album.

yay more opportunities for Jing to known worldwide
she already has a growing fanbase in Hong Kong, China, and Singapore

Yea, that's the one... haha. Thanks. Oh my goodness, what made me recall it was Harlem?!! Ah.. now i remembered, i saw Jing on Million Star ('Bai Wan Da Ke Xing' - 百萬大歌星). If i'm not wrong again , Harlem jokingly teased her by singing Jolin's song, with part of the lyrics - 'Lao shu, Lao Hu, sa sa fen bu ching choo'. That was my another regret because i didn't watch that episode from the start till the end . Was busy catching up my sleep..haha. When i woke up,i saw part of it, around 5 mins then went away from the tv to do something else. My sister and mum nicely got to watch the whole episode of it. I think i was not interested in that program bcoz i didn't who Jing was at that time.


I think Malaysians' definitely begining to know more and will want to know more about Jing because the local tv station is currently airing Super Idol season 1. So now not only the Malaysian chinese get to the see the program but also the non chinese will also get to see it, as well as the non satelit tv subscribers.

Hmm, speaking about her album, i think it's not yet made available here in Malaysia. I've gone to the record shops but there's no sign of her album , not even the Super Idol EP (maybe the EP's only available in Taiwan... is it?) I wonder what's the delay. That's strange...because there's a CD shop around where I live (California, US) and my friend told me that Jing's cd is already there. Compared to the US, Malaysia is so much closer to Taiwan

haha, I've never been to any signing events before, but I have been to JiuFen, this really thin alley market in Taiwan. People literally squeeze past you and you can smell their sweat and all XD. Now I'm sort of wishing that I was going to Taiwan this year to go to all of Jing's events. It would be worth it even if there were so many people. I want to shake her hand really badly haha.

(2009/5/27, Taipei) Zhang Yun Jing, continuing from the momentum of winnning Super Idol and gaining a strong fan base, has released her first album [Unprecedented] which has done very well in such a short time. When interviewed, Jing talked about her feelings about transforming from a normal person to a singer, as if this reality feels just like a dream. When the paparazzi, the fear of many entertainers, was brought up, Jing directly responded by saying that she only fears that they will catch her pulling up her underwear, because such an act is "way too embarrassing."

Album achievements-Zhang Yun Jing: "It feels like a dream!"
From the singing competition to releasing an album, ZYJ feels like she has completed her dream. Releasing her album has given her feelings that she has never experienced before. She said: "When the singing competition started, I was an ordinary person that people paid a lot of attention to. As ZYJ's popularity is rising, it is hard to avoid the paparazzi. When the interview got to talking about what would be more embarrassing to be caught doing, Jing said: "Pulling my underwear!" Jing feels that the life she lives is too normal so she isn't afraid of the paparazzi following her. But Jing, who is a Virgo, holds a small stance concerning such circumstances. She isn't afraid of getting caught picking her nose or cleaning her teeth. But she is afraid of wide circulation of pictures taken of her pulling her underwear because it really is "too embarrassing!"

Receiving criticism for dressing neutrally (or like a guy), ZYJ doesn't take notice
During Super Idol, ZYJ attracted much attention and discussion about the way she dresses. Coming from a singing competition and still dressing the way she did before, ZYJ has been compared to China's Li Yu Chun. Regarding the way she dresses, ZYJ gave a firm answer: "When being yourself, having your own opinions is most important. You can't use someone's appearance to judge that person. For example, those who express their own opinions in showing themselves to the public are the ones who won't become bad." She encouraged other girls who dressed like her in outer appearance: "I've always felt that someone who knows how to be themselves, is someone who is the most simplest person."

唱片公司挑戰不可能任務，努力挖掘張芸京的「女人味」，在MV裡讓她溫柔地偎依在師弟七零的大腿上，還有差一點就「擦撞」出來的吻戲，讓她難得地表現出「少女味」。大家看機不可失，當場決定加拍一段戶外景，擺脫MV裡的第三者黎卉淇，替張芸京和七零製造「獨處」機會。

沒想到，張芸京邀七零去打球，兩人尬籃球、相追逐，「京爺」本色出現，一陣混亂中，七零不敵，還真的被張芸京推倒膝蓋磨破皮。

七零被師姐打敗，成為大家的笑柄，但張芸京說：「我偶爾也有『女』的感覺啦。」據觀察，也就是腳不經意會有日本少女的內八、偶爾會撒嬌，儘管她的「偶爾」是指「兩天一次」。除此之外，她打球和周杰倫一樣，球技不重要，耍酷裝帥才要緊。

Zhang Yun Jing just can't be girly so in the setting of her new MV [Let Me Take Care of You], Jing becomes engaged in an ambiguous relationship with Qi Ling and her acting was praised to have much chemistry. So Jing hurried to film the basketball playing scene and once again regained her manly status, even causing Qi Ling to get hurt.
Jing's record company took on a challenge in trying to bring out the feminine side of Jing. They got her to film scenes with Qi Ling where she leans against him and there is even a scene where Qi Ling pushes her against the wall in an attempt to kiss her. These scenes gave Jing a chance to display the [Young Woman] side of her. Anyone watching the television won't be disappointed. There are also scenes filmed outside, including a scene where Li Hui Qi lets Jing and Qi Ling have a moment together.
Unexpectedly, when Qi Ling and Jing filmed the basketball scene, Jing was so manly that Qi Ling was no match and really scraped his knee. (translator note: not sure if this is just describing the scene or if it actually happened )
Qi Ling, defeated by his senior, became the laughingstock of the film crew. But Jing said: "I do have my girly moments though." On the outer appearance, she may not have the legs of Japanese teenage girls, but she will kiss up to people occasionally;that "occasionally" meaning once every two days.
On the other hand, Jing plays basketball like Jay Chou. Playing skills don't matter, instead it's all about looking good while playing.

Jing is really going beyond in this MV, watching the teaser actually just makes me more excited for the full version. The whole story of the MV is like a drama. Jing's acting is superb for her first time.
