New Topics in Asian News Section now on invisible mode until approved Options

Asian News Contributors,

We have decided to put AEN on a per-approval-basis.. that means, all incoming news topics will come in invisible until the mods make them visible..

why are we doing this? 2 reasons

1. we want to control double posting, following news rules etc.

so... news posters, pls check and re-check the latest news. Double posts does not necessarily mean exact words.. Similar news are also considered double posts.. Also, the news sources.. Have to post LINK.. dont just write, (for example) source : AEU . Give complete source link

2. now that we have our own team of translators, we are giving priority to everything done by the official translators and even those translated by the regular members.. news translated from outside sources are going to be filtered to give way to our own AF-translated news which are always more comprehensive and accurate.

The whole waitng for approval thing i guess kinda make sense cuz there are ALOT of double posts in the news section mainly cuz poeple repost the same thing from different sources with a new title.
lets hope that ends.

HK-news is the most problematic with double post and such, therefor we concentrate on HK-news moderation more.
All other countries news will be approved asap.

moderating them gives us time to tag them too (oh wait, you guys weren't supposed to know about tagging yet)

I like the idea and it can prevent it from posting false news and double posting news like what my mistakes more often.

I've found that all the differnt countries' news occasionally gets posted more than once. However, I guess it happens more often with the Hong Kong news...

That is a good idea. That's why I couldn't find the news articles that I have posted up. I thought I did something wrong and I posted it up more the once, maybe like three times (on the same article, oopps..sorry about that) because I thought I did something wrong.

Things needed to be changed at AF especially in the news section, so I'm glad to see this happen.

And thank you for reiterating the "link back" part because there are so many news I've seen from here that aren't linked to the article.

What's next, AF? Maybe a new layout so the sidebar disappears so the typing/viewing space is wider? 8D Heehee, just suggesting...

it kinda gets unsettling when the news posted are in invisible mode.
first time i posted w/o seeing it, i clicked on it several times. it must have entered your threads many times. LOL!

can we see the disapproved in to the trash can? just so we know and that we won't be posting invisibly again, thinking it never went trough.

Because there are a set of rules and standards all the AF Mag Crew follow when translating and posting news up in the news sections, and so those articles don't have to be as thoroughly double checked as the normal members' submissions.

If you want to become part of the Mag Crew, get Member status and then apply to be one of our official translators. They're still accepting applications.

this is a great idea. but there are still many times when articles are being repeated. i would comment that it has been posted the day before and should be deleted but 2 days after it hasnt been deleted yet.

oh this is a good news, while you're at it, i suggest no.1 one to be checked will be the source of the news.

i've reported few false news posted, and its too tiring to report this kind of news.

i also suggest to atleast notify the news contributor, if their news was rejected.

Another way is to click Find Member's Topics when you click on the arrow next to your name. You'll see a list of topics you've made and where they are.

ok so i was wondering how the approval works?
cuz in my head i am thinking that when a news article is submitted it lines up according to when the submit was and then Mods come down and approve them in that order.

BUT.... some articles are approved faster than others despite when they are submitted. so does that mean you guys get to chose which ones go first regardless of when they were submitted? or do you randomly approve them? Or only certain mods get to approve news from certain people?
