TVB Producers

Are TVB Producers important? In my opinion, producers are the creators for dramas. Their thoughts, inspirations, etc came from their accumulation of informations, knowledge as well as references from others. Gaining through experiences as well as learning from mistakes are the important key steps in order to produce a totally well-written drama. Besides that, with the cooperations of script writers, hairdressers, camera men, people who in charge in lighting effect, filming assistants and many more, the dramas were produced into a more wonderful, interesting one.

According to a source, TVB Producers are divided into TWO main groups, i.e. Catherine Tsang Groups and Tommy Leung Groups. Catherine Tsang and Tommy Leung [Toby Leung's father] are known as the two main executive producers.

Thank you for providing a very complete list of Producers from both Executives and their productions.

From the lists, it can be seen that each Producer has his/her own strength on what type of series they produce, even though some Producers do become more famous than the others. It's also interesting to see that some Producers tend to have favourite artistes to cast on their series. So it really may not be necessarily the Executives who are in favour of the artistes but the Producers themselves?

In terms of storyline and story-telling, I really like the works of Mui Siu Ching and Lee Tim Sing. I would say that these two are probably my favourite Producers. Both of them have different area of expertise though. Mui Siu Ching's strength is light-hearted heartwarming drama, while Lee Tim Sing's strength is wuxia-ish heroicness drama.

Tong Kei Ming produced only a few dramas (from the ones listed), but I think his pre-modern drama productions are quite strong and interesting, i.e. Phoenix Rising, Glittering Days, and The Silver Chamber of Sorrows.

Thanks to both for the detailed lists...very nice to have all these in one location.

My favorite producer is Mui Siu Ching. Yes, she usually does the heartwarming family series, but her repertoire is actually quite broad, as she has done quite a few serious dramas as well (for example: The Breaking Point, Forensic Heroes I and II, etc).

I also really like Poon Ka Dak's series as well...the DIF series and UE were particularly memorable.
