hey everyone peace.gif, well i'm new here, to be honest i just registered yesterday, and already i'm posting a thread, haha.

Anyway I'm not Asian, but I'm really into the Asian culture, and like the way they dress and the way they style their hair. However, I have Asian friends who think that dressing like them is going way too far, and hate that I'm "trying" to be Asian. I'm kinda worried about this to be honest. Am I that much into the Asian culture? I don't really think so. On one hand Asians "try" to be white, by dying their hair, and are Americanized to some degree, and noone cares, but when non-Asians begin to like the Asian culture, it suddenly provokes war. Well I'm exxagerating, but you know what I mean, kind of, maybe. xD,

On the other hand I wanna know what you guys think smile.gif

haha yh, I think my colour's nice. Right now i look kinda pale tho, so yh sort of a bage, light yellow. biggrin.gif

That still doesn't solve my problem though, no matter how good I'd look dressing in Asian clothes or having my hair Asian because my skin looks Asian, my friends still won't accept that, since i'm not actually Asian.

wannabe hahaha...... Sounds like a term a grade schooler came up with. Yep soak it all in. Xenophobia is a beautiful thing.

Anyone trying to defend the legitimacy of this term in practical use needs to go stroke their E-cock elsewhere.

QUOTE (Love. Music. @ Nov 7 2009 6 05 PM) *
there is a huge different about being into asian things and trying to be asian yourself,
if u are just into the asian culture thats good for you i dont see the problem. i mean if u like listening to asian music and eating asian food thats cool
but the minute u walk around acting like u are that ethnicity yourself and even have the nerves to correct people of that ethnicity themsleves thats when u are pushing it.

asian wananbe to me is what the latter does.

Exactly. I think this post answered fully just about everything this post needed to know. They're called 'culture vultures', the bad ones. And there's one in every culture.

I think people need to just enjoy culture more and stop trying to preach it, vainly display it, defend it or fight it. It will make you a stronger person biggrin.gif.

i think its fine as long as you know what suits you. however it does disgust me when you get someone that tries to look asian but doesnt suit them but its not like i will bare a grudge agains them for that.
