English Name : Kelly Lin
Pinyin Notation : lin2 xi1 lei3
Cantonese Notation : lam4 hei1 loy5
Birthday : 29, October, 1975
Birthplace : Taiwan

Let’s celebrate Chinese New Year by casting a lecherous eye over Hong Kong movie star, Kelly Lin. Chinese folk exchange gifts at this time of year but, according to ancient superstition, giving away your trousers is very unlucky. It doesn’t seem to have done Kelly Lin any harm, though, because she’s currently Hong Kong’s hottest female lead and was ranked first out of the 10 Sexiest Asian Women by FHM Magazine in 2002.

Kelly, 28, is actually from Taiwan and used to go by the name of Hsi Lei Lin. She’s the star of a dozen films .

A co-production of Hong Kong's Media Asia and mainland's Galloping Horses Film, "Jianyu Jiangwu" boasts a stellar cast including Malaysian kungfu star Michelle Yeoh, South Korea's Woo-sung Jung, Taiwan's Chen Chang, and Hong Kong's Kelly Lin.

Yeoh plays an lady assassin who falls in love with a postman (Woo-sung Jung), neither is aware the man's father was killed by her gang nor that he is a trained martial artist. Their love blossoms but then the past comes back to haunt them.

John Woo said it was his favorite martial arts screenplay over the years and he had been waiting for such a chance to cooperate with Michelle Yeoh.

Angeles Woo, daughter of the "Face/Off" director, got a minor role as a mysterious killer.

John Woo's long-time partner, Terence Chang of Lion Rock Productions, will also work alongside him.

Chang describes the film as a combination of "Face/Off" and "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" set in China's ancient Ming Dynasty.

QUOTE (cfensi @ Oct 29 2009 4 21 PM) *
So it's been out for a while, maybe a few days and I was busy so I resisted watching it but I finished it last night. This is the first time I really got to see Kelly Lin act, and I have to say, she was impressive. She had a grace and subtlety, and charisma that all my favorite actors have. Who add movements so necessary to make the character whole, but are so minute that you don't even realize they did it until watching the movie a couple times.

I was less impressed with Sun Honglei actually, maybe because I had higher expectations. He's usually so good at humorous subtle expression in everything he does that takes you a moment to register because he eases into it. But as this character I think he could have upped the charisma, and perhaps it's because he was playing an unsuave character, but still I don't know...that's not an excuse. He's officially one notch below Deng Chao now in my list of favorite Chinese actors. He wasn't bad at all, but I just think with his skill he could have brought more.

Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to Kelly Lin in another romantic comedy. Too bad she's doing martial arts next right? I've become increasingly less fond of fantasy and wuxia over the years and I'm not sure why, so I usually just wait to hear if those are good before really paying too much attention.

I'm looking forward to the sequel though. I really liked the last scene, simple as it was. Sun Honglei was good and they were cute.

Kelly Lin and Italian actress Asia Argento.

"Boarding Gate"is a film by French director Oliver Assayas (Olivier Assayas), as the director once again featured East asian culture, Oliver Assayas not only chosen Hong Kong as location for its filming, but also hired Kelly Lin and WU Jia-Long(Carl Ng), two Asian faces for the starring roles.

She happily said: "Though we apppeared few minutes on the movie screen, we spent several days shooting, and the result of our hard work paid off! "She added:" This is a unique experience, working with a huge foreign director (Oliver Assayas),and to try different role and personality. The "AMERICAN STANDARD" Charms of Kelly Lin
source: www.sina.com.cn
(2009-11-12 15:54:55)

Charming Kelly Lin with Honglei Sun in "May Fair Gentleman"

In many people's eyes, Kelly Lin is sexy, when she starred with Andy Lau in "Fulltime Killer" , her sweet face, and tantalizing eyes has cause quite a stir among the fans . At the recent movie "My FairGenleman", Kelly Lin's protrayal of a strong woman who single-handedly transformed Honglei's down to earth image to a classy businessman was impressive.

"My Fair Gentleman" is competitively smart

In a scene from the film"My Fair Gentleman", Kelly Lin did not know why the toilet has to be proudly placed inside the luxurious car. Perhaps, for Kelly Lin, as a person who pursues perfection in real life, every detail is perfect and the demand of quality of life is high. So, playing this character was a breeze, and she exudes real confidence and passion.

Perhaps, in "My Fair Gentleman", there's no one else who has the "American Standard" charm of Kelly Lin. Even when "My Fair Gentleman" was released,in this romantic comedy , we were able to see how she also spoke fluent English, and Honglei's awkward businessman character, who favored the American Standard toilet in a traditional country has sparked laughter among the audiences.

In the "Sparrow", "Tokyo Trial" and many other films, Kelly Lin's heart-warming image and charms were fully demonstrated in front of the camera. But she smartly said: "Even flowers have their use, they arent just for decorations, they also bring life and vitality."

KELLY LIN MENTIONS (BagSnob)

Olivia Harris Zip Pocket Round Sack in GREY!
By Bag Snob Tina on November 11, 2009 9:00 AM

I gave the black coffee Olivia Harris Round sac to my BFF in Taiwan, Kelly Lin, for her birthday last month (yes, being my BFF means you get lots of great bags as gifts!). I was going to wait for spring to get myself a dirty white but saw this grey version today on Olivia Harris' new online shop and had to have it! The grey is so perfect for fall and as many of you know, it is one of my absolute favorite colors. Bag Snob Kelly (it gets confusing when your two BFFs are both named Kelly) used hers all over Taipei and on our flights, it's such a light weight and easy to use tote and we can't tell you how handy that giant zip pocket is! You must check out the site for many other new styles that Joy Gryson has come up with for the line.

Michelle Yeoh and Kelly Lin join John Woo for ‘Rain of Swords’
Posted on November 11, 2009 in: News
http://www.asianmoviepulse.com/2009/11/11/...rain-of-swords/

Last week filming started in Shanghai on John Woo’s all new Asian swordplay movie called Rain of Swords. Action actress Michelle Yeoh, now 47 also joins the cast of this multimillion dollar production. The film is co-directed by Taiwan’s Su Chau-bin along with John Woo. Action choreography will be handled by Stephen Tung-wei.

Its great to finally see Michelle Yeoh back in Asia after a dissappointing run in Hollywood with Babylon A.D and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Yeoh plays a female assassin who falls in love with the son of a man killed by her team of assassins. They say love is blind and it certainly seems to be the case here as both Yeoh and her lover are unaware of each others past or martial arts abilities. As their love grows, her past soon comes back to haunt them.

Michelle Yeoh is still in amazingly good shape, but if Michelle Yeoh isnt enough eye candy for you then you will be pleased to hear that Kelly Lin and a wealth of other beauties will also have roles in this potential blockbuster.

Not due for release until August 2010 , Woo who joined the project as co-director had nothing but praise for the script.

Whilst we wait for more news on Rain of Swords, dont forget that Mrs Ferrari (Yeoh is married to Jean Todt did you know?) can also be seen in Wo Pings True Legend.

Stay Posted for more details.
