Japanese Version Meteor Garden, Ratings open up Red Plate


Taiwan drama, Meteor Garden, edited from Japanese manga ever created a wave in Asia with it's 4 characters in the show. Just before the Taiwan version fixed it's road, Japan's TV station has now released the Japanese version to compare with the Taiwanese version. After it was broadcast, ratings opens up red plate, the team and actors were all very happy.

Last Friday, Japan broadcasted it's Japanese version of Meteor Garden. It was only the first episode but their ratings were at 18.3%. Before it's broadcast, the team and actors were under pressure. Firstly was because the media's comparison between the Taiwanese and Japnese version. On the otherhand, whether the show could hit ratings was another concern. Seeing such good results, everyone heaved a sigh of relieve.

In the Japanese version of Meteor Garden, the way F4 appeared left a deep impression on everyone. The scene which the female lead punched DaoMingSi caused discussion, it's also believe because of the good results of the first broadcast of the show. As the team specially got Song Dao Cai Cai Zi to act as DaoMingSi's sister to hit him hardly, it's predicted it will be broadcasted in the 3rd episode. Because of Song Dao Cai Cai Zi's acting in it, the ratings is believed to go higher.

As to which is the better version, afraid that it would have to wait for the Japanese version to hit the Taiwan market before audiences can review on their own.

Originally a Japanese manga, "Meteor Garden", in the Chinese Taiwan version that became a TV idol drama actually stirred unexpected sensational results, and introduced F4 as famous ideal handsome men. Seeing F4 so popular everywhere in Asia, Japanese producers also thought of looking for a group. A few days ago, the Japanese TBS TV network announced that on October 21 on primetime they will release a TV serial “Ideal Men” of the Chinese “Meteor Garden”, in order to save the increasingly weakening Japanese drama market. From "F4"s Jun Matsumoto, Ogori Syun, Matsuda Shota and Abe Tsuyoshi portraying and "Shan Cai" imitation Inoue Mao. But looking only at the chosen cast, regardless of whether media or the viewers won’t favor them, the only reason is-- in ideal men, being handsome is not enough!

Jun Matsumoto calls himself F4
The outstanding idol group "mist" Jun Matsumoto will play an important lead role and soulful character of Dao Ming Si. In the Japanese drama circle, Jun Matsumoto is presently not so famous. A part in " Great Teacher Onizuka” let him succeed to come out of the string, also his roles in the a new version of "A Golden Fields Teenage Diary" , "Pet Sweetheart" etc. serials. As "mist", Taipei -Tokyo link lines have seen Jun Matsumoto in report feeds saying he is F4 Jun Matsumoto, and everyone thought he was joking. At first, because he is connecting under these drama roles, he just said it this way. Jun Matsumoto previously considered his elder sister's influence in watching these mangas in the past, then he began to like the story, and he also thought that Dao Ming Shi is really very handsome.

However, Jun Matsumoto, although growing to be more talented and smart, his height however is not tall. According to estimates, he is only 170cm tall. This and Jerry Yan's version of Dao Ming Si has an enormous difference. After all, those 4 men are 180 cm handsome guys but with fully-raised eyes.

Many stars wait for the roles
Besides Jun Matsumoto, the rest of the leads all wants to make the same score. Portraying the role of Hua Ze Lei, Ogori Syun of “GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka” is introduced again as a new star, and compared to Vic Zhou, he also has that mysterious look in an artist but somewhat irritably young and tender.

To everyone, Matsuda Shota is very possible to have an unfamiliar point. The late star Matsuda takes pride of his two sons. He followed his elder brother Matsuda Ryuhei and later was also sent to showbiz. Although inferior to his elder brother’s handsome looks and talent, he, however is lucky to also look pretty good. Afterwards, TBS TV network specially prepared the drama serial “Bad Teenager returns to School” later and now also acting in a lead role. But portraying Mei Zuo appears to be a waste because his Mei Zuo role lacks even more. It’s possible that Matsuda Shota , who is relatively more suitable, can exchange their roles. Among the 4 guys, Matsuda’s external looks slightly yielded one count.

even though Jun Matsumoto isnt as good looking as Jerry he's also a good actor . i watched him in "Gokusen" i really like that series. He stars with Yukie Nakama, the girl from "Trick", if anyone knows . hm...and truthfully im kind of glad that they are making a japanese version becuz i think that they would be a better job making the series seem more anime like. if u watch "Gokusen" you will know what i mean about more "anime-like".

however, the taiwanese production of meteor garden was also very good, dont get me wrong. i just think that becuz i think it is a manga/anime, if it is protrayed in japanese it will be very good as well. (im an anime freak, sorry =P)

Would like to update you some info about F4

About "Dragon Squad" movie promotion, it is confirmed that Vanness will join the HK session. There will be 3 more sessions of promotion in Mainland China, we are still under discussing with the movie distributor on this, will let you know once itinerary is confirmed.

Ken will attend Nov 12 Karen Mok’s concert in Su Zhou as performing guest, fans please go there and support him. For Ken’s movie “Far East”, production company has planned to launch the film on late Nov, will update you on any changes.

Vic’s TV drama filming has less than 1 month to go, after that he will have album recording. For movie plan, it is always undergoing, hope we can match up with a good film for him.

Jerry is still filming “White Tower”, since the filming schedule is very packed and Jerry got nervous or pressurized easily, he might more or less lost some weight. Yet he’s working happily, that ‘s what you all would like to see, so don’t worry.
I’m recently busy with Karen’s concert tour, so not much time to come here to drop all of you messages. After the tour finished in mid Nov, I’ll come more often. Thank you.

Yan Chengxu has chosen to fly solo and be his own boss. F3 not only know nothing about it but also has to guard against the situation of "three controlled by one" in the future. F3 has many projects planned for next year, but if boss Yan asks too high of a price, the upcoming F4's 3rd album and a world tour consisting of dozens of concerts for F4's 5th anniversary might end up falling through.

The eldest walks out and become one controlling three

Because the eldest of F4 has gone away by himself, where will F3 who are separated suddenly go? Will they reunite with Yan Chengxu to be F4? It will all depend on if Yan Chengxu alone is satisfied with the mode and price that the two sides collaborate.

In other words, by flying solo, Yan Chengxu has established his position as one controlling three; it proves that he has a vision in making the move.

Judging by the fact that F3's agency, Fulong, didn't know for sure until 1 or 2 weeks ago that Yan Chengxu, whose contract expired around July and August, had already started making his own contacts with vendor corporations, F3 most likely do not know of Yan Chengxu's latest move.

Next year, all are fully loaded

But Fulong reveals that F3 has many projects planned for next year, mainly CDs. Each of them will be extremely busy.

According to plans, Zhou Yumin (Zaizai) who is currently filming 'Silence' will release his 3rd album and his movie is still under negotiation. Wu Jianhao, who was promoting 'Dragon Squad' in Hong Kong yesterday, has two TV series under negotiation, besides CDs and movies.

Besides CDs and TV series, Ken Zhou, who has just finished 'The Far East International Trial,' will continue filming movies in China next year. As for Yan Chengxu, Fulong doesn't know of his plans next year. But previously they were engaging in talks of releasing F4's 3rd album and holding a world tour consisting of dozens of concerts for F4's 5th anniversary.

Performances: fair as individuals

In other words, by flying solo, Yan Chengxu can either advance to attack or retreat to defend. He not only can fight alone but also plays the key role in determining whether F4 can pick up and continue their former relation. He has already started learning paying salaries. In case he unilaterally decides that the price, schedule, or terms don't work for him, F4 won't see the light of day.

In the past, when F4 work individually, their respective performances were just fair. But if they combine, their power was so strong that it swept across the whole South-East Asia. A few months ago, the photo book that they shot together blew the Japanese females away. In the future, F3 are bound to have to strengthen their individual ammunition. Striking in Twos will be the latest mode of collaboration.

F4 always combat most effectively when they unite. Missing the eldest Yan Chengxu (right), it remains to see whether the remaining F3, Wu Jianhao (left), Zhou Yumin, and Zhu Xiaotian can still exert great money-drawing power.

Yan Chengxu's revenue increases a whopping 30% after being his own boss


Yan Chengxu starts his own company. F4 is formally disbanded. The original plan of reuniting F4 in CD, commercials, movies, and concert tour all have to be put on hold. F4 are estimated to lose NT$80 millions (about HK$20 millions) in revenue. On the other hand, being his own boss, Jerry will save the commissions charged by a management company and increases his income by 30%.

Yan Chengxu, Zhou Yumin, Zhu Xiaotian, and Wu Jianhao became red-hot five years ago for starring in Taiwan TV series 'Meteor Garden.' They swept across the South-East Asia using the name of F4. Their annual incomes are calculated in NT$100 millions. In recent years F4 have been working separately and reunite occasionally for commercials. Because Yan Chengxu frequently had disputes with his manager Angie Chai, two years ago Jerry moves to a sister company, Fulong, headed by Ge Fuhong. Collaborations among F4 remain intact.

Jerry's contract expired in July but he used the filming of TV series 'Giant White Tower' as an excuse and refused to negotiate a contract with the management company. After considering for several months, Jerry decided to start his own company, a work shop including his name - 'StarJerry entertainment team', to handle his work. Reportedly, Jerry has invited Arron Kwok's previous Taiwan manager, Liu Weici, to work with him. The new company has 8 employees and is separated into two departments, respectively for Taiwan and overseas business.

Jerry's recent Oral-B promotions in Hong Kong and Malaysia were the first assignment of StarJerry. Currently StarJerry's staffers are busily contacting corporations in various locations for commercial deals.

Commercials F4 represent together will be broken up in the future. Pepsi is one of them. Jerry was already on his own in the commercial for the mid-Autumn festival.

Jerry's formal departure from Fulong will impact next-year's F4 reunite project the most. Originally F4 planned to release its 5th anniversary album in Jan, film 4 commercials in Feb, and hold 6 Hong Kong concerts in Mar. and start the world tour in April. Their incomes in these four months alone will reach as high as NT$80 millions (about HK$20 millions).

Via his own company, Jerry indicates to Fulong that detailed discussions on next year's F4's work will have to wait until the end of the month when he finishes filming 'Giant White Tower'. Schedules and pays all will have to be renegotiated. Except for the release of the F4 album which is postponed to May, the rest of the work will be put on hold temporarily. On the surface, Jerry will lose the part of income working as F4. But in fact, being his own boss, his income will increase by 30% and he no longer needs to pay commissions to any management company.

Taiwanese boy band F4 aims to reunite for album, concert next year

HONG KONG -- The popular Taiwanese boy band F4 hopes to reunite for an album and a concert in Hong Kong next year, one of its members, Vanness Wu, said Monday.

Wu said arrangements are ongoing.

F4 has not formally disbanded, but the four band members have been pursuing individual careers.

Wu said he misses his days with F4.

"When we first went abroad for promotion, when we first came across fans, when things were crazy, it was the four of us together," Wu said at an event promoting his new action movie, "Dragon Squad."

"The four of us got where we are now together. We started out together. ... We have that friendship," he said.

F4 is famous for the TV show "Meteor Garden." The band was so popular in Southeast Asia that another member, Jerry Yan, was received by Philippine President Gloria Macapal Arroyo when he visited the country in November 2003.

The other F4 members are Ken Chu and Vic Chou.

"Dragon Squad" is the story of a group of young Interpol officers who pursue a fugitive taken by mercenaries in Hong Kong. Wu plays an Interpol officer from the U.S.

Wu also previously played a fighter in the action movie "Star Runner." (AP)

F4 will tour the countries next year

Recently, Vanness of F4 told the media that F4 has discussions to tour the countries next year when he was interviewed by the media. Yesterday, the reporters interviewed F4's management company, Taiwan area's promo person, Mr Zhi. He have confirmed that F4 world tour rounds would start in March next year starting from Hong Kong's hong kan, touring the world. Right now, many manufacturers in China have been talking to FuLong regarding this matter.

At the end of year 2002, F4 separated and did their own solo prospect after their world tour concert. Regarding next year's reunite for the concert, Mr Zhi don' think reunite is the correct word. "F4 have never been separated before, they merely progressed on their own for a short period of time. Thus, there is no such thing as reunite. Their contracts are still with FuLong." For the past few days, HongKong and the Singapore media have been announcing rumours of Jerry starting his own management company, Star Jerry and pointed out that he might be absent for F4 activities. Mr Zhi denied all these rumours. He said that at the concert next year, Jerry would definately be there.

F4's year 2002 China concert's performance was $600,0000 china dollars. Till today, have their prices dropped ? Mr Zhi expressed, "Right now, the money for everything have not been placed out but it is definately not as high as $600,0000. However, it's predicted that the money in their performance should be around $3 to $400,0000. This is not far off from their performance in China in year 2002." Mr Zhi admitted, "F4 is still popular. It is actually difficult for us to get them together as they have good results in their solo aspects. They have lots of commercials and dramas to recieve. Thus, we set the target of a world tour concert for next year. We went to talk to the various drama sets and manufactueres to avoid not having time next year and this would become bubbles again. The rise of F4 once led the way for the wild upsurge of boy bands in the Taiwan entertainment industry, and also fanned the rapid development of the Taiwan idol drama industry. Yet, F4's "leader" Yan Cheng Xu announced at this time his intention of going solo. Beside creating a shock in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, what course will F4 follow in the end? The love and hate between F4 and their management company, the breaking and making-up with their respective girlfriends, is, quite simply, the real-life version of "Meteor Garden"!

As they grow older and gain more experience, the characteristics of each of the F4 members are also becoming increasingly obvious. They also fully realize that, perhaps for a year or two, the name F4 will still be a thriving business, but to be a long-term meal ticket is impossible. To fly solo and set out on their own is already a subject that they have to face.

Idol groups disband after being together long

This seem to be a curse that all idol bands have to face. Thinking back to earlier times, the once-immensely popular "Xiao Hu Dui" and "Hong Hai Er" have already disbanded a long time ago, their members going solo, and even changed their line of work.

Ge Fu Hong - head of Fulong who's responsible for managing F4 - didn't avoid the issue. At present they are together, their power still astounding, but from a long-term point of view, each member still has to enrich themselves, to prepare for when they will each go solo in the future.

Moreover, ZaiZai is still studying and hasn't entered military service up to now. F4 will inevitably be separated because of the problem of his military service, unless he doesn't need to enter the military. Once he enlists in the military, if time dragged on, Yan Cheng Xu will be over 30 by then, that he will prepare to separate himself is also necessary.

Support F4, and earn as much as possible while still popular

But because Da S didn't like how Yan Cheng Xu was too serious and severe when filming, while ZaiZai was about to finish singing, she unexpectedly went up on stage with the flowers. There's still a "big brother (big star)" backstage whose face turned livid almost in a split second - that, is Yan Cheng Xu, the person whom Da S was supposed to give the flowers to. With a long face, he asked the people beisde him: "Why did Shan Cai (Da S's character in the drama) go up now?" Reportedly, nobody dared to answer him. Arranging the order of appearance until they perspire

The order of who will take the stage first during F4's first Taiwan concert was also a giant headache for the staff. If they arranged for Yan Cheng Xu to take the stage first, it's as if announcing to the world that Yan Cheng Xu is the "big brother" (or most popular? - grendel). If they arranged for ZaiZai to be the first one, they worry that Yan Cheng Xu will misunderstand and think that he is just the "second".

As a popular idol group, each member of F4's every action and every move is naturally the focus of attention. Even though from their present situation, going solo immediately is not very likely, privately they don't exclude any opportunities for them each to work individually.

ZaiZai is young, his personality is the most obedient

People who know ZaiZai's personality well all know that he is easy to get along with. His philosophy in life is "You're okay, then I'm okay." His high EQ and sensitive perception also makes him be praised the most as the most intelligent one in F4.

Because ZaiZai is the youngest among F4, he has not finished his studies yet, nor has he served his military service. Wu Jian Hao is amiable, with a high level of independent thinking

But because he harboured the most dreams and expectations towards making albums initially, that's why he is specially careful in making his solo album. Expected to be released next year, he himself participated a great deal in the creation of the album, even took a hiatus in the US and stayed for quite a while because of it.

Extremely lively with the most body movements, Vanness had acted in the film "Star Runner". Last year, he even went to the mecca of Chinese martial arts Shaolin Temple in Song Shan to learn fist fight maneouvers, to become the first artist to become an Shaolin lay disciple, a big step forward in marching towards Hollywood.

In making films, Vanness doesn't necessarily always follow everything the company arranged. When he comes across a film he wants to act in very much, even if the management company doesn'nt necessarily support it, he would still give it a serious consideration, and is by no means resigned to just being ordered about by the management company. His inclination to go solo is slightly stronger than ZaiZai.


Zhu Xiao Tian is casual, easily overlooked

In F4, Zhu Xiao Tian can be said to be the one with just slightly less inclination than Yan Cheng Xu to fly solo. He is also described as the one who takes care of people the most, the one who most possess an artistic essence. Zhu Xiao Tian, who sometimes would become overweight with his face frightfully full of casually-grown beard, is also the one who is reportedly the least willing to make an F4 album together again.

HONG KONG -- The popular Taiwanese boy band F4 hopes to reunite for an album and a concert in Hong Kong next year, one of its members, Vanness Wu, said Monday.

Wu said arrangements are ongoing.

F4 has not formally disbanded, but the four band members have been pursuing individual careers.

F4 is famous for the TV show "Meteor Garden." The band was so popular in Southeast Asia that another member, Jerry Yan, was received by Philippine President Gloria Macapal Arroyo when he visited the country in November 2003.

The other F4 members are Ken Chu and Vic Chou.

The band F4 have been out of the limelight for a little while, since
their soft-drink commercial and promotional tour in Japan earlier this
year. One of the golden boys, Vanness Wu, has his second big screen
outing now on general release in Hong Kong. Dragon Squad is directed
by Daniel Lee, who was also responsible for Star Runner, Vanness'
first effort. The film is a high-octane crime thriller, with a top
international cast, including Shawn Yue, Sammo Hung, Maggie Q, Eva
Huang Sheng Yi, Lee Bing Bing, Hur Joon Ho and American action hero
Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens). This multi-national
production, supported by the US, Korea, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong
had a final budget of HK120 million.

Fellow F4 member, Jerry Yan, is preparing to launch his very own
management company, Star Jerry, when his current F4 contract expires.
This may come as a shock to the loyal fans of the group, but Jerry's
manager, Liu Wei Ci, has made a statement confirming that Jerry is
still part of F4 and a series of group activities have already been
planned for the near future. Coming in January 2006 is an album
celebrating their 5th anniversary. Six gigs are scheduled in Hong Kong
during March, before they begin touring in April. Right now the four
guys are busy with their solo projects. Jerry is working on the
Taiwanese drama White Tower, and Vic Chow is shooting the drama A
Moment of Togetherness in Taiwan and Qing Dao. Ken Chu has also gone
back to TV to work with Gao Qun-shu, a renowned Chinese director, and
Kelly Lin His Lei in Far-East International Trial.

Breaking the rumors of disbanding
F4 plans a tour all over Asia in 2006


F4, who haven't been up to much for a long time, will be fishing up some money next year when they take a tour around Asia! Even though Jerry Yan has gone solo, it didn't destroy F4's friendship. In addition, when they "reunite" the four's value will be even higher! They are estimated to earn more than a hundred million when they take a tour around Asia in March.

Although Jerry had expressed to the public that he hasn't gone solo, Fu Long has also stressed that F4 didn't disband. But it has been confirmed that Jerry is going folo. Right now his drama and movie contracts are no longer handled by Fu Long but are made through Star Jerry. Recently there has been rumors that Jerry is thinking about going to China to develop and doesn't exclude chances of acting in ancient dramas. As for a drama crew offering him USD$20,000 per episode, his assistant Lu Shu Juan said that she never heard about this.

Earlier China media said Jerry will be acting in a China drama named "Ai Zai Lai Shi" (When Love Comes). Because his manager has a family emergency, a response couldn't be made. His friend Ao Jun Yi is helping him with contracts and expressed that they only sent them the storyline. There are currently more than 10 drama invitations that they are considering but everyting will have to wait until "White Tower" is finished filming. Ao Jun Yi also said that even though an agency contract doesn't exist, next year F4's tour will still be held as planned.

F4's Zai Zai Vic Chou and Da S are currently dating. Following the completion of "Silence - Shen Qing Mi Ma" the 2 have been seen by the media going on dates. But Lu Shu Juan says that ZZ is taking advantage of this time to work hard on his studies and preparing for his next project.

Vanness Wu, besides having filmed the 2 movies "Star Runner" and "Dragon Squad," has been in America preparing for his new album. He, who has become a Shaolin disciple, said he wants to break into Hollywood since his family is resides in America. If he works at home then he'll be able to spend more time with his family.

As for Ken Chu, after filming "International Military Tribunal, Far East," besides his rumors with Kelly Lin, who worked with him in the above-mentioned movie, and his trip to Suzhou to attend Karen Mok's concert, he hasn't appeared in public. Dear All,

As if it’s been a long time from the previous message, how are you all?

Recently a lot of Ken fans are asking about the movie and TV drama on air date. For TV drama, the launching date is still on hold as lots of the contents are requested for revision during censor.

Regarding the movie, it is undergoing censorship procedures of different local departments, the proposed launching period will be March next year for the time being, so please be patient.

Now VanNess and Vic have finished their movie and TV drama filming respectively, together with Ken, all of them are focusing on the group album and some training course of other areas. Ken has been going to gym, so don’t need to worry about him.

Some good movies for Vic are under negotiation. Yet it becomes a problem as Vic needs to spare time for his study, it’s too harsh for both Vic and the filming team if Vic needs to travel every week in and out of Taiwan. We are still striving for the best solution, will update you once confirmed. By the way Vic’s Pepsi fans gathering is coming this weekend, don’t forget to join and support Vic!

F4 concert tour is another big issue that fans are paying close attention. The original plan is to hold the concert by mid to end of March next year However as Jerry’s filming of White Tower has been prolonged; it’s still a question whether the concert can be held on the proposed period. Hope there will be a clear picture by mid Dec.

Jerry explains, Not starting his own Company


Taiwanese young pop group, F4 once wand through China, HK and Taiwan. However, after some time, the 4 members individually started their own development and seldom work together now. Recently, there were rumours that among the 4 , Jerry Yan was starting his own company, starting up Star Jerry to handle his work contracts. However, all fans can be relieved. It is only a rumour and Jerry have explain about it.

Recently, there were rumours of Jerry setting up his own company, Star Jerry to handle his work. Jerry said, "Jerry Star is only the name of my personal webpage. As there isn't much webpages about me, i'll like to gather the news and release it on the official site. I didn't expect the outside world to think i want to be my own boss!"

In fact, after Jerry's contract with Cai Zhi Ping ended, he have resumed to his freedom. Him, working with Fu Long has no contract based at all. Jerry said, "I carry dreams and missionary thinking working in the entertainment circle, similiar to Director Cai's dream. Hopefully in future, i'll be able to work with him to invest in a movie. The main aim is to push Taiwan's dramas to the international market." Jerry even joked that Director Cai has a kind heart, his heart was as sensitive like a human. If he is a woman, he'll definately fall in love with him!

Other than that, it was Lin Zhi Ling's birthday. As her rumoured boyfriend, his actions were watched by the outside world. Jerry, who is fliming The Hospital in KaoXiong expressed that he is so busy that he has no time to keep in contact with Lin Zhi Ling on the phone and can't return to Taipei to treat her to dinner. However, he wish that she'll get well soon.

There were also rumours that Jerry went to a pet shop to look for a poodle as Lin Zhi Ling's birthday present. Jerry laughed and said, "I merely went there to take a look, i didn't want to buy a dog. I can't come out to explain for every single rumour, i'll just let the media write whatever they want to write."

Bao Long and ZZ are very refined


Bao Long Jerry Yan and Zai Zai Vic Chou's relationship isn't bad because recently when Jerry was filming "The Hospital" and ZZ was filming "Silence" they visited each other on the set. One day they also concidentally were filming in the same building. Jerry bought some food to go see ZZ and played around with him, "Please let me be a passerby."
