Mr Miu is one of the "Five Tigers" in the 80's. He left show business in the 90's and has a very successful optical business. It great to see him back!!!!!!

I think he did a very good job in The Academy, playing Lee Sir. He really commands respect from the cadets. It is a perfect role for his come back to show business after so many years away.

QUOTE (cbale456 @ Apr 30 2005 10 37 PM) Hey Jfan, I see that you are a Michael Miu fan. Just wondering do u post at this forum: http://forums.cinple.net/miukiuwai/ If not, hope to see u there soon! I go by the name of "jenny" there. Thanks for recommending the site. I went on it today and seems like there's a lot of animosity towards his wife. Why don't people like her? I think he's great. The Academy is the first series I've seen of Michael Miu. There aren't that many places where I can find information about him. |

Yea right now there is some animosity and hopefully it will die off soon. I'm personally not an MB fan (though I like many of their series) but I post there because it is the only English MKW forum I know. There is a Chinese website that I go to for pics and video clips and they are really respectful of Jaime there but just that I don't know how to read chinese. Here's the site if anyone is interested: http://bbs.miukiuwai.net/
The Chinese site is very active and has everything u need about Miu--too bad I'm chinese illiterate I must say that the English forum is not for everyone since it is dominated by mostly MB (Miu and Barbara Yung) fans. But I go there anyway and just ignore any negative comments about Jaime and other actresses because I'm desperate lol. |

What do you think of Michael in The Academy? I'm Vietnamese, but my friend is Chinese and got me watching with her because she likes Ron Ng. But Michael is the one that made me want to watch more . She translates the storyline for me and has got me totally hooked on the man. He's got that air of authority about him that makes his character totally convincing. I loved episode 17 where he defends the students to the other instructor. Also at the end where he pretends to be strict with the students for listening outside his door and Pak Kiu catches him smiling.
I'm also enjoying the storyline with Ron's mom, Ivy, and the aunt. By the way, I have an episode where he guests on a recent game show. If I upload it, can someone translate it for me? My friend is away on vacation and I have no more access to Michael. I'm getting withdrawals. |

Hey guys! After reading many of your posts saying the the English forum http://forums.cinple.net/miukiuwai/ is too stuck on old series, I've decided to rev it up by posting more on The Academy (I just posted a TA thread for discussion) and I've also posted alot of recent video clips of interviews, etc on Miu. So please visit the forum if u have time and also it would be really great if you all can also contribute to the forum so that the forum can be more active and not just be filled with MB stuff (don't get me wrong I like MB; just that I don't want the forum to be limited to only MB).

Well if u have, gosh I feel soooo sad for Miu's character. When they ended eps 21 with Miu looking so sad and the sad music playing, I felt really bad for him. Aw, poor Miu. And which game show is it? I know Miu's gonna be on Super Trio but I thought it won't air until this Sunday. But hey, I have time so go ahead and upload it and I'll translate for you QUOTE (FeiHung @ May 9 2005 11 46 PM) i 've watch many of his tv series....but never see him long time , i know he is doing spectacles business. How come he came back to series actor again...? anyone knows? Miu is going back to acting because he loves it! He guest starred in the movie Jiang Hu and it sorted sparked his interest in acting again so that's how he got into it again. I'm so happy because I get to see more of him now Have u seen The Academy yet? Miu is so good in there! And he just finished filming the series "It is You" (Formerly "Disappearance") where he is the lead there. I saw some behind the scenes and my oh my he looks even more fit and better in there than he did in The Academy. Can't wait for it to come out! |

this is the first series i've seen miu in too. i was struck by his coolness and masculinity compared to the others. i also love his interactions with all the other characters. i love all miu and sammul scenes, miu and chin ka lok are soo funny.
i actually think that michelle yim looks a bit too old to be paired up with miu. maybe cause i imagine her being paired up with people like adam cheng and damien lau. i don't feel much chemistry between them. i don't like how she keeps throwing her sister at him either. but i'm really feeling their relationship after the story line about how miu has liked michelle since middle school. and now that he's trying to pursue her, she's avoiding him cbale456, thanks for both the english and chinese forums. thank goodness for those couple years of chinese school, i was able to work my way thru the chinese forum...it didn't help that it's in simplified chinese either. but from all the interviews and stuff, he seems like such a outgoing and cheerful guy, not like his TA character at all. and he loves to smile, and what a smile he has |

Here's Michael on some gameshow. I don't know what the show is called. But it's something where you're supposed to choose what should happen in two different situations. At least I think that's what it is. It sucks not knowing Cantonese.

Go and immediately get your hands on Chor Lau Heung 1984! You've never lived until you see the rest of his series. lol. I really like all the Miu and Sammuel scenes too--they are both my favorite 2 characters in the series. I do agree michelle yim looks a bit old for Miu but in "It is You" Miu is pairing up with Melissa Ng who's pretty young. I think she would be better. I guess tvb noticed too hehe. I've watched up to eps 22 so far and let me tell you I felt really bad for Miu at the end of eps 21. You will know what I mean when u see it. Too sad You are lucky you know some chinese because I pretty much don't know it at all and I have to rely on a translation website to help me navigate at first haha. Not easy to do at all and it took me awhile. But for Miu, it's all worth it! haha. And yea Miu is very outgoing and also very outspoken. I just love him! QUOTE (Guest @ May 10 2005 7 54 PM) Here's Michael on some gameshow. I don't know what the show is called. Cbale456, thanks for translating. http://s19.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3IMJTFQ...HR27Y6W7CSZA5CS Hey thanks for uploading it! I just finished watching and wow first let me say Miu looks soooo handsome in the show! Here's the translation (Do u only want translation for Miu parts because that's the only parts I can actually pay attention to lol.): First, the concept of the show is that a clip of an event will be shown and people have to decide whether given the scenario if the law has been broken. Those who guess wrong leave and those who guess right stay. When Miu enters, Dodo the host says "He's recently become Ah Sir (in reference to The Academy") but let's see how much he knows about the law. It's Miu Kiu Wai!" Then a clip shows 2 actresses who hate each other to begin with. One slaps the other and the other gets mad at her because she slapped her for real and wants to sue her. Then Dodo goes to the audience for opinion. If audience press red light, means they think the law is broken and can sue. If yellow, no law is broken. Miu presses red and says "I think the law is broken because as actors when we have to film such a scene, there should be communication between the 2 actors." Dodo says "but you know when filming you want realism. I've had my share of slaps as well." Miu says "well you should have called the cops then" (Miu is so funny When it's the short guy Eric Tsang's turn, he presses red. He says "there was this one time with Chun Bak Cheung...Miu, you were there too!" and Miu says "Chun Bak Cheung deserves to get slapped!" haha. Eric continues, "Well the actor slapped him real hard but the director said it's not good enough and told him to do it harder and for reals. The actor slapped Cheung so hard that he fainted" and Miu says "he can't sue because he fainted" and Eric says "well ifi someone has to be sued it's the director not the actor." The answer is yellow--the law is not broken and can't be sued. There was some legal mumble jumble and terminology that I really didn't get so I can't really explain. haha Next clip: a guy walks into the store and tells the lady he really likes the chair and wants to buy if for 1000 bucks. The lady says she made it herself for ornamentation but eventually sold to him anyway since he really wanted it. His girlfriend hurts her back when she sits on it and breaks it. He goes back to the lady and demands payment. Eric preses yellow (saying no payment is required) and says "see Miu sells eyeglasses..." Dodo says "how is it related to Miu?" and eric says "if I go into his store and want to buy eyeglasses but I see his dog is cute and I buy it and the dog bites my daughter it's not Miu's fault." Miu's turn, he says "what's the fun if no one has to pay?" and presses red! "Ofcourse u gotta pay. I think gotta pay because there was a transaction involving money. For example u sell a car to me today--I'm not a carmaker--but it's a personal transaction. I buy the car and it breaks down after just 3 days don't u think you should pay for my losses?" Answer is red (miu's right this time!) because the lady never said that the chair is ONLY for ornamentation. She only said SHE herself uses it for ornamenation so she has to be responsible. BTW, do u mind if I post this link for others to d/l in the other 2 forums? Thanks! Oh yea, are there other clips of Miu you know of? You don't have to upload it just tell me and I'll try to find it. The weird thing is that I don't think even the chinese site had a link to this download. I just want to make sure I get my hands of everything that is Miu that's all haha. I never even knew Miu was on this show. This post has been edited by cbale456: May 11 2005 8 05 AM |

actually i did watch CLH. after miu caught my attention in TA, i just had to see some of his old series. i found CLH on ebay and i loved it!!! he was really handsome and charming. i actually don't see the great MB chemistry(from what i read in his english forum). there is chemistry but the vibe i get is not of love but more of a playful brother sister thing. perhaps it's just in this series because i don't think their storyline is developed enough since MB don't share much screen time together. i get why she likes him (along with every other girl in the series) but i'm not sure why he likes her. oh well, can you guys recommend me another must see miu series?
thanks for the transcription, the chinese forum does have bt download for the law show, it's posted in the discussion section. wow, they don't miss anything |

Good job, good job! He was just so dashing in that series! A perfect hero! And I agree with you about MB there...there wasn't very much screentime between the two especially if you purchased the edited 25 episode version which I assumed you got. I saw the original 40 eps version so it was more developed for me but still somewhat lacking. I would also recommend "Fearless Duo" which is also an MB series but Barbara and Miu have much more screentime here and the development of their relationship is a maiin point of the series. It's personally my favorite MB series out of the 4 so you may see more of their chemistry there. While CLH was very fun to watch, I must say that the Miu series which left the deepest impression on me was Legend of the Condor Heroes 1983. Miu plays Yang Hang here and eventhough he is not the lead character he definitely outshined the main character Gwok Jing! This was the character which made Miu famous and he got all leading roles after this series. Have u seen the new version of LOCH1994 with Gallen as YH? If u did, I must say that Miu as YH is 1000 times better! He is to this day the best YH ever. With Gallen's version YH was just an ordinary evil character, but wow Miu was unbelievable in bringing complexity and emotion to this character. Miu's YH also had a playful and charming side as well. I'd also recommend watching the uncut version for this series as well because the edited version I know cut out alot of good parts. But if you really can't find the original version you can at least watch 2 clips that have been edited out at the Chinese MKW version in the movies section. I only saw the edited version of LOCH and so when I saw the 1st clip I just bawled. It was so touching. I don't want to spoil it for you though so I wont elaborate haha. I think I've been elaborating too much already. I also heard that Legend of Dik Ching 1986 (with Kitty Lai) is pretty good. And I heard that "You Only Live Twice" is very worth watching because it's really fun to watch and it's also the series where Miu met and fell in love with his current wife Jaime Chik. I have seen't either series yet. I've been trying to look for Dik Ching but I've only seen the Viet version on ebay--it's not released in Canto yet. But I know "Only Live Twice" is out on Canto already and I really really want to see it. I'll get it as soon as I finish up with my school finals. I heard it's a really good series and that the chemistry between Miu and Jaime is superb! Blasphemy! J/k Oh bbdida, actually you may want to see The Foundation as well. It's also an MB series and though it's not one of Miu's best I must say that Miu looks the best in that series. I don't know what it was about his clothes or hair but he looked unbelievable in there! Even better-looking than in CLH. That was the second series I ever saw of him and it was also the series that made me his fan. Seriously, I know I'm repeating myself but my gosh he was good-looking in there! To Cbale, thanks for translating. I didn't think you would do it so fast! And yes, I only wanted the Michael parts. It's funny that Michael wants to call the police for everything. I can't imagine calling the police beause of getting slapped on a movie set.l I'm trying to decide if that means he has a high ethical code. Thanks again for the quick translation.
I agree, he looked very handsome in the show. He looks different than in the Academy. Younger and happier. I don't know if it's because he lost weight or if that's the way his character is supposed to look. By the way, I got the gameshow clip from a friend of a friend who got it from Michael's chinese site. I didn't even know that until I asked. What a small world! The only other site I know where you can get clips is tvbsquare. You'll need to have special software to download it, but the site tells you how. And everything is in English! Here's the link http://www.tvbsquare.com/downloads.htm |

Hi Guest!
Thanks so much for uploading the gameshow and posting the link! But sorry I was too slow to get to it and all the downloads have been used up again. Could you please upload once more? I know it's a bit much to ask, but would really love to see it. Thanks! Really appreciate your help! Oh btw, you can email the link to mkmk3680@yahoo.com; then perhaps I could get it before the dls run out. |

Thanks for the reply cbale456 and bbdida!
I know the other 3, except Kent Tong Chun Yip. Is he an actor or singer? I don't think I've heard of him before, perhaps if I see his face... Any idea why they were called the 5 Tigers? Its kind of a unique combination with 2 TVB stars (Felix and Michael), a singer in Andy and a movie star in Tony, though Tony started off with TVB too. Hey cbale456, thanks for the warm welcome! I didn't know such a forum existed, I've only ever been going to the cinplenet forums before. Yes, KPMG is a big four public accounting firm...I just used it as a nick as I couldn't think of anything else that is easy to remember...kind of a corny choice though! LOL |

LOL They were called the 5 tigers because they were the 5 most highly promoted actors for tvb back then. Actually, they all originated from tvb, including Andy Lau and Kent. Andy Lau was famous as Yeung Gor in Return of Condor Heroes 1983 and Tony as Wai Xiao Biao in Duke of Mount Deer. I never knew Andy acted in tvb until just a few years ago as well. Hard to imagine the big-time Andy acting in tv series eh? |

I just saw episode 29 of Super Trio show with Miu in it and it was hilarious!!!! OMG they were cracking Miu jokes throughout lol! I couldn't stop laughing it was sooooo funny!
It was especially funny how Miu's wife Jaime Chik Mei Chun was in the audience so they kept cracking jokes when Miu had to get physically close to the other girls during some of the games. And it was sooo funny when they had Jaime come up to roll on the mat with Miu. OMG so funny!!!! |

It's in the "Variety Shows" forum in the download section. Here's the direct link: http://asianfanatics.net/forum/HK_Show_The...-talk35164.html This section also has the download for the "Justice" show Miu was in where Dodo Cheng is the host. |

i've seen up to episode 28 so far. i like sammul and fiona. ron and tavia have their moments but for the most part they bore me. i feel so bad for miu when he was in the rain with michelle, that look he gave her when she walked away

I absolutely agree with you about the scene with him in the rain. It was heartbreaking. Especially after he was so happy being with Michelle and his classmates earlier in the day. I gotta say, he's such a great actor. He's able to show so much emotion with just his eyes or a facial expression. Ron and Sammul don't even compare with him.
I'm also wating anxiously for his next series. I heard he had a recent radio interview. Can anyone recap the good points of the interview? Also does anyone know if he plans on returning to acting full time or if this is just something he's doing for now? |

yea, i finished TA yesterday night. i thought episode 31 was kinda rushed packed with too much stuff. but miu!! poor miu!! that's was sooo sad. i miss lee sir!!! i was really down last night so i had to watch the miu episode of the trio show to balance myself out. i went from crying to laughing like crazy...my parents thought i was bipolar.
now that TA is over, i need my miu fix...so i went to blockbuster online and added 2 miu movies to my queue. hero of tomorrow(movie where he plays "sam gor" and thus his nickname) and tigers(movie with the other 4 tigers). can't wait. oh and something i notice. in TA, miu does the finger waving gesture a lot. i wonder if that's one his own mannerisms or one he made up for his character? I feel exactly the same way about TA. I really miss Lee Sir. But where you're renting movies, I just watched the series again. Since I didn't really pay attention to Michael when I first saw the series, I rewatched all his scenes. And I did notice that he gestures with his hands alot. I agree with the people here, he is a very good actor. This series has made me a big fan. Since this is my first Michael Miu series, I will definitely check out his ancient series. Hopefully, the stores will have at least one of them. If not, I might have to rent one of the movies you mentioned. Please let me know what you think of them. |

Arrrgggghhh! I'm stuck on episode 29. I'm dying to finish TA, but the tapes are all rented out. I need spoilers. I already know what happens to Michael at the end. Someone please help and tell me every detail of what happens betwen him and Ivy. Does he confess his love before everything happens? How does she react to what happens to him?

I don't know who Maggie iCheung is, but I like her already. She's got good taste. I read on another forum that Michael will be in another series with someone named Benny Chan. That's three more series to look foward to. It certainly looks like he's going to be a regular TVB actor.
bbdia, thanks for posting the screencaps. That first picture of Michael looks exactly like him in the Academy. He hasn't aged much at all. |
